  • don't the tea + coffee stains wash out?

  • cant*

  • Beautiful! Its starting to annoy that the ones you can buy are badly made or are purple instead of blue... Shame i can make dresses :( or anything ekse for that matter

  • Really informative, and very well presented :)

I think gentle distressing is important with regards to cosplay - sometimes it needs a little weathered look to get a bit more authenticity...you've nailed the ratio perfectly! I would never have thought of using a cheese grater ^.^

    Cheers!

PS: Your little Sister costume is extremely impressive! very nice work :)

  • your design is perfect. I've been wanting to make my own little sister dress but I've never worked with patterns beforelet alone made one, would you mind giving me advice?

  • @VintageVampire173

oh thank you. If its your first time I would suggest buying a pattern and altering it, maybe something like simplicities alice in wonderland dress.

I draft my own patterns by draping fabric , theres a few youtube tutorials online, you get a very accurate tailor made costume but its quite advanced. I would suggest buying a pattern and altering it as you need.

  • @sandscosplay okay, I really appreciate the advice. Mum's been trying to help me find a kiddo's dress patter from the 50's, but they're actually somewhat hard to find XD. I never thought to try an Alice In Wonderland type pattern.

  • @sandscosplay I used the Alice patter and it works great :D

  • awwww i need me a little sister when i go and shoot rivets into splicers, seems to lonely without her :( i like the vid though

  • oooooo and bart

  • how did u make youer hands blood red

  • @animelove271 I just used snazaroo body paints and some fake blood that I made using, flour, corn syrup and food colouring. Works really well. You can use some hairspray to seal it all

  • This will really help with my tuggish splicer costume :D thanks

  • get a maid dress mak eit purple though and cut up the ends a little :3

  • Great video! Do you have a tutorial on how you did your make up?

  • You should also include how Cinnamon really creates a rusted look thats what I used for my little sister cosplay

  • Wow this was great but how did u make the dress?

  • Wow this is a very informative video! I'm going as Eleanor from BS2 this year and this is definitely helpful, cheers!

  • awesome.it be more cooloer if the fabric was red, purple or green since i think those r the typical cloth colors the lil sis wear.

  • the UK cosplay team? LOL

  • I'm incredibly impressed with the professionalism of the tutorial! WOW!

  • I am being little sister for Halloween with a few of my friends and your tutorial really helped me distress my costume. Thank you so much!

  • For people wondering where to get a decent pattern that you can play with a bit yourself, for the little sister costume, the one I used was an alice in wonderland patterns and I tweaked it a bit. The most important aspects are the buttons, the pinafore and the peter pan collar.

@Sandscosplay, your video helped me quite a bit in distressing the fabric for my dress. Thanks. :)

  • @SaoirseSweet I second that !!~

  • omg sandscosplay.... that is a really good little sister dress!!! im trying to make one.... i tried 8 times and still it hasnt looked right... and i need the right pattern can u help me maybe?

  • very handy! i'm making a little sister costume of my own, so this is great advice!

also you have a lovely voice! :3

  • You said you made the dress of your own Pattern right?

  • @InvaderDebz yes I drew up my own pattern from scratch. I just drape pieces of fabric over my body form and pin and cut them to the shape I need

  • @sandscosplay Oh okay, I'll have to try that. Were doing a big Bioshock Costume group for a competition at my school and I'm helping my friend with costume making and I'm also being a Little Sister myself.

  • i love listening to you speak, you have a lovely voice. anyways you costume is adorable and i am jelous!

  • @chelsiemalfoy oh thank you so much thats very kind of you to say =]

    x

  • is there anyway you can do a vid of your patterns? cause im having a hard time trying to find different patterns it would really help :]

  • @ZombieJasmine hi there, thats an interesting idea I will try to make a video of patterns. I can take photos of some of my original pattern pieces (I think I have them kicking around) to send to you as well if thats any help at all. x

  • @sandscosplay i would love to have your patterns :] i just bought the fabric today so the patterns would be greatly appreciated :]

  • Hi ^^ i just want to know, i'm making a Little Sister dress too and the white piece on the dress i'm making one too and i don't know if i must put it over the dress or it's a piece sewn with the dress i don't know if you know what i mean ^^' thanks

  • @killerSkeleton hi there, sorry slow reply. Well my white piece is part of the dress as I was too lazy to make a separate pinafore! The top blue piece is sewn straight onto the white stomach area, then thats sewn directly onto both skirt pieces, the white and blue. Does that help at all? sorry bad explanation!

  • @sandscosplay thanks a lot ! I will be a Little Sister at Montreal Comic con in december, thank you so much for your help =D !

  • Very nice! <3

  • Hi I was wondering if you knew a way to pale your skin with make up. I'm thinking of doing a little sister cosplay. However I am naturally tan, and little sisters are pale. Soooo I was just wondering if you knew something or had some tips? :)

    Thanks for your time~

  • @UmbrellaBoatStudioTV hi there, well I use very watered down white face paint and cover myself with it, then use some talcom powder and use it as a setting powder. Sometimes you can just use the talcolm powder but if your naturally tanned then maybe try the white paint first =]

  • @sandscosplay Oh okay! Cool thanks! :D

  • Im gonna be a little sister for halloween I CAN"T WAIT!!!!

  • Umm hi i was just wondering where you got the dress itself from. I'm thinking about being little sister for halloween and i really the dress for it. it you could message me i would be eternally greatfull.

    ~Madison

  • @falloutmadison I made the dress myself, I drafted and cut all of my own patterns for it. I don't know if you would be able to buy one but you could search on ebay for a 50's style dress and dye it the colour you need

  • @falloutmadison i found a Alice in wonderland dress on ebay. it looks like the little sister dress and i think you can change the color of the dress, you should look, i'm sure it would be perfect :)

  • Wow! This is extremely handy. I love wearing worn, old-looking clothes. May I ask what you used for the blood? I've been wanting to give some of my clothes a subtle blood stain ,but I'm not sure what to use.

    Thanks!

  • @XxMissNoNamexX hi there, for the blood I just used fake blood that you can get in fancy dress and joke shops, or you can make your own. Just google recipes for fake blood, its really simple to do =]

  • nice video x3

    thanks for the tipps x3

  • Hey! I'm doing a splicer for a cosplay in June, and was wondering what did you use for the blood stains? Can you put it on your skin too? thankyou! <3

  • @ashleefodder Hi there, for the blood stains I used fake blood which you can get in most 'joke' or fancy dress shops. You can make your own as well out of corn syrup if you google it

  • how do u creat a ruffled effect on the skirt? i want to make a little sister cosplay, any pointers u can give me? :3

  • @MyLifeIsCrazy hi, to make the ruffled effect just do a running stitch across a long length of fabric and then you can just bunch the fabric up along the stitch line. Its really simple and quick =]

  • "too over the top with dirt and bloodstains" XD hahaha, thats awesome

  • i am doing this how did u do it........kinda need some help...

  • So you made the dress yourself? And thank you for your help!

  • Hi I love your video and costume, it's amazing! I was going to an anime convention and was wanting to make or buy a little sister costume...but the problem is I can't find a dress...what is the style of the dress called or where do you think I can buy it online? If you can help thank you and if you can't still thank you for your time and great video!

  • @004Ninja

Hi there, well the dress is a basic 50s style, google it and you'll see what I mean. I created my patterns from scratch but there are plenty of patterns you can buy that'll fit the bill.

If you just want to buy a dress then I'd just search ebay for 50's dresses, or if you have a vintage store near by then take a look in there

Hope that is of some help to you =]

  • I wonder If I'll do this... Depends for me, depends for me... But it does seem very helpful I can't find a big daddy costume so I have to go alone again hoping I can buy the Big Daddy doll, which seems sad and all...

  • Love this tutorial ^-^ Was just wondering what type of fabric did you use for the dress?? I'm planning on a little sister sometime in the future and have no idea what kinda fabric to use haha

  • Hi there, thank you for your kind words.

Its just a simple suiting linen. Its very lightweight and easy to work with. I purchased it on Berwick Street, nearest train station is Oxford Circus if you live in London.

Good luck with your Little Sister, I look forward to seeing yours =]

  • Ah thanks for letting me know ^^ i wasn't too sure what to use as I really want to use this tutorial as well so wanted a good fabric to work with, i'll make sure to go there next time im in london :)

  • Thank you very much! My friend has been looking for ways of making a dress, and this will help greatly! Thank you!

You have pretty hands <___x ...

  • haha thank you =]

I'm glad this helped your friend, if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask

    xx

  • love the cosplay

  • thank you x

  • interesting and informative !! 5/5

  • where did u get the dress in the first place?!?

  • I made it myself

  • Brilliant work! This is a really well made tutorial. I've always had trouble distressing the edges of stuff, never even thinking of using a cheesegrater. Excellent. 8D

I used diluted paint for a lot of my stains. I made a friend a Bubblehead Nurse costume last year and we diluted yellow acrylic paint and splattered it on there, but teal would be a much better alternative. The blood was just watered down read+black, and that worked well too. I really prefer your methods, though. :D

  • I would like to add that fake blood can help out as well too :-)
