  • Fantastic :)

  • @AcousticLauson Thankyou very much greatly appreciated BB

  • Great song, I love the Beckett album but I've never heard this track before! Great vocals and guitar work especially.

  • @AdamHansenDrums Hi Adam thankyou so much I'm so pleased you like it.You're the first person who's mentioned my guitar work too,I'm grateful for that too ! That was my old Hofner Verithin singing out on the single which I still use from time to time.I love it,it was the guitar I used for my audition with Beckett and our first tour with Alex Harvey.thanks again Adam keep on drummin' cheers BB

  • Very thanks! I'm looking for this single for so long...! Have you a mp3?? Thanks! Great band ever!

  • @apyreyma Thank you very much I'm pleased you've found us.I'll ask Keith if he can do you an mp3 to send.Glad you liked the band.cheers BB

  • I bought this single in 1973 and saw the band live when they were supporting some other band which I can't remember. I've always loved this song and still have the single. One of the band members - Arthur his name was married the girl next door to me in those days - I think I'm remembering that right

    James

  • @bozzypaws Hi James, thanks for your positives and buying the single too,You're right about Arthur he was the original lead guitarist but not on the single,I replaced Arthur in '73 after they'd signed their recording deal with Raft records. We were asked to come up with a suitable single so the band decided to use one of my songs that I'd written the previous year as the material we were doing didn't include anything that was single material at that time. Thanks again BB

  • @Broboable Hi BB what ever happened to Arthur? I have Little Girl on my Ipod and play it alot.

    Regards

    James

  • @bozzypaws Hi James,Arthur played with the last incarnation of Beckett as I've been told who were gigging locally in the N.east up until a year or so ago.I beleive they all decided to quit after their bass player announced he didn't have the time to do it anymore Perhaps Arthur is in another band now ? but I'm afraid I don't know.thanks again.BB

  • @fisherenterprises I'm still unhappy with loads of aspects too,not many people know I took on the very difficult job of mixing the band before joining as their lead guitarist.I knew how they should've sounded like & suppose that's why I'm forever objectional about it..Our fans only know what they hear it's a pity they've nothing to compare it with, but however if they like it that's good, amen.

  • @Broboable I must agree with you about the "live" & the "album" Beckett. Having seen Beckett live on countless occassions betwen 72 & 74 & Kieth sent me a cd of live gigs, there are two distinct sounds. However I have no preference both sound so good. The live "all the way up to 11" in the car & having the album since 74 the orchestration on it seems so right.

2in the car & having the album in various guises since 74 the orchestration

  • @gingernorm HA HA ! I bet you piss the neighbours off ? Thanks for being a fan of the band,it's nice to know you knew us back then and were a witness to the live shows.I'm suprised Keith sent you a copy of the live stuff as I think they're pretty rough in places and the mixing wasn't too good either, here I go again with my criticisms, anyway you dig it all so that's the proof I suppose, thanks again mate.Cheers BB

  • I still have this single, and its still one of my absolute favourite songs! Did'tn think much of the album - but now I have a cd version it has grown on me (having Little Girl and My Lady does help!!). Who has the master tape? Maybe someone can remix it the way you wanted it to sound?

Anyway thanks for sharing it, I'm gonna put it up on my Facebook too ;-)

  • @1953Johnmac thankyou for this amazing compliment !! if one thinks how many singles have been released and you regard this as one of your favourites !!! wow ! I'm sure we've all dreamed of remixing the album but it would prove to be quite a task.Half of Frank's bass tracks had to be dropped as they were sadly out of tune in parts and the same goes for Terry's vocals. I'd especially love to re-do the guitar mixes as they've always remained a bone of contention with me & a few other areas too.

  • I bought this in 1973 and always wondered how it could fail to be at least radio hit, let alone the massive chart success it deserved...

  • @gcxpc Thank you for buying our single, mind you ,I've received no royalties since '75 ! but I still appreciate your kind words. The single was really liked by most of the Radio one DJs and was played quite a bit, considering we were an unknown band, like I commented to another friend we were due to appear on top of the pops but were pipped at the post by Sir Cliff,I do believe it would have boosted the sales therefore gaining us entry into the charts, never mind perhaps it'll pick up on the net.?

  • sless's voice, cross between rod and robert plant. if you lot had stuck to it , i would be talking to another brian johnson now

  • @phil56uk Ha ha Phil if pigs could fly ! you mentioned Johnna I remember working with him in a band called Buffalo with Tom Hill,he used to sing 'You and me and a dog named boo' (he has a beautifull rich natural voice) imagine A.C.D.C. doing that Ha ha

  • thanks for this little girl one bob, rod stewart would have loved to get his hands on this. shame there was a lot of competition those days. RE RELEASE IT .

  • @phil56uk thanks-Phil-Rod-would-have-done-a-great-job-on-it-I-agree-Terry-didn't-do-too-bad-though.We-were-nominated-to-appear-on-Top-of-the-Pops-but-Sir-Cliff-Richards-brought-out-Devil-Woman-the-same-week-and-of-course-was-chosen-instead-of-us,I-think-if-we-had've-appeared-on-the-show-the-single-would-have-taken-off.--thanks-again-for-your-positive-comments,they're-really-appreciated.BB

  • I really really like this one, too !

    Kind regards,

    Flo

  • @flodotz1701 Thanks Flo,that's nice of you to say.I'm pleased you like it.B.B.

  • @Broboable Thanks for answering me. I bought the single in 1974, it was the only Beckett item released in Brazil. I was very young and obviously didn´t know who Rushent was then. In the 80s I made the connection, but I was only able to hear your album a few years ago, and was disappointed by Little Girl was not on it.. And My Lady sounds way better on the 7", specially on the instrumental part in the middle, where guitar was louder. Speaking of guitar, must I assume that B.B. is Bob Barton?

  • I prefer the single sound. It was produced by Martin Rushent, who later would produce Altered Images and The Human League. My Lady single´s version is lot better than the album´s. Unfortunately, I didn´t find it here, and I´ve lost my old vinyl single many years ago...

  • @hansenharryebm Yes Martin was a proper producer and it certainly shows,as regards to My Lady I'm working on an upload and hope to get that up for you a.s.a.p. thankyou for your discerning ears !! and compliments.cheers B.B.

  • Lyrically and musically so simple yet so perfect. Amazing how the simplest of songs are often the best.

Stumbled across the cd on ebay from some German company and cant stop playing it, great to see an album nearly 30 years old stand the test of time.

  • Great stuff !!!!!!

  • @BiffaBacon thankyou Biffa glad you like it !

  • Bob, i love this song....it just never dates does it...........class

  • @STARGATEBART ThanksStargatebart, it's just a plain little love song that's all !!!
