You are really misinformed. How long did the torch stayed in India for instance? 7 minutes and was hidden in order not to be attacked. The think is that we show what happens in our countries (France, USA, UK). Therefore you know what really happened. In the countries you mention, the "non-whites" countries as you said, you see only partially what happened. The torch was hidden from the public on most cases.

Chances are that observers in the west do know china better than the chinese people themselves. The chinese government is obsessed with preventing the youth of china having any idea about the masses of human rights voilations perpetrated by the government. students from mainland china wouldn't even know what happened in tianenmen square in 1989 for instance. I don't defend Iraq but don't try to defend China's actions in tibet while attacking coalition intervention in the middle east.

I have been to China several times, and I think that it is a great country with amazing people. The problem is with it's government. How can anyone defend a government that censors the internet, the news, and pretty much all media. A government that grossly violates human rights? They aren't the only country in the world with these conditions but if China didn't want to be critizised, why bid for the olympics?
