Even if someone did come from Africa, you STILL wouldn't refer to them as African-American because it's not right to refer to people from Africa as Africans. You refer to them by the adjective of their country. For example, if someone is from Kenya, you would refer to them as being Kenyan.

The way I look at, the term African American is stupid in and of itself. One reason is that it implies that they are not "fully" American (this is the same for European Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans etc)Why can't we all just be Americans?
Next, the title is defined as "citizens or residents of the United States who have origins in any of the black populations of Africa". With that logic, AA's can also call themselves European Americans and whatnot since most are mixed.

The way I look at, the term African American is stupid in and of itself. One reason is that it implies that they are not "fully" American (this is the same for European Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans etc)Why can't we all just be Americans?
Next, the title is defined as "citizens or residents of the United States who have origins in any of the black populations of Africa". With that logic, AA's can also call themselves European Americans and whatnot since most are mixed.

i find it annoying how easily someone can be dubbed as racist. If somebody who committed a crime happend to be black, the person who arrested him is immediently called racist. He just happend to be black, he could have been chinese, it doesn`t matter, he commited a crime. I know there is some racism out there and it is definitely wrong but nowadays even saying the word ``black`` is racist.

My mother is from guyana ( west indian ) my dad is from ghana (african ) I look mixed but Im called african american even though i'm not full. It doesn't bother my ass at all. I'm black and I'll be black until the day I die. Alot of blacks in the U.S don't too much care for labels concerning race. It's nice that you made this video but by making this video all you do is put more attention on the label. Dude just ignore the labels and life will be better lol

If u keep on celebrating Saint Patrick's day when white americans of irish heritage claim their Irishness(which often happens in US)then the term African American holds.I am African who grew up in Europe.At the universty my DNA showed African, middle eastern traces of European.Does this make me mixed? Most blacks i know that claim to love africa also dont know anything about africa. I minored in african-american history and its amazing how stupid some people are.
