Ernest Bruer is my great grandfather. I knew my great grandparents as Moms and Pops. My mother would take my brother and I to there house as young kids. Moms would always make her chicken noodle soup when we'd come. Moms and pops would play piano for us and sing all afternoon. I would give anything for my kids to have that experience. I love and miss them. Robert Knupp
@raymondcrooke I'm not sure. But I suspect the paid lobbyists to the American Congress are involved, somehow... I doubt it's a coincidence that that chorus is linked to the White House.
My all-time favorite is probably the title of the Mamas and the Papas' first album: "The Mama's and the Papa's." I always wondered: the Mama's and Papa's WHAT?
I'll be more constructive here: you are probably confusing the possesseive plural apostrophe ("the boys' room") with nthe simple plural. Once again: don't use apostrophes with plurals unless you're pluralizing digits ("1's and 2's") or letter names ("there are two a's in banana").
On the topic of apostrophes, here in the US the apostrophe appears to be dying; I don't know if it's a result of poor education, laziness, or what, but "your" where "you're" is meant is so common now one is apt to find it in CNN news stories, where once one would mostly expect to see it in the writing of adolescents. "Drivers license", "girls basketball", "owners expense", etc. are now the "correct" spelling.
Hell in a handbasket, that's where we're headed, by cracky, grumble gripe.
lol... this is another blast from the past! A song that if you ever heard it once, you would remember it again! You are a true gem and very appreciated in this community.
but to have articulated one of the truly important questions is nothing to sneeze at. not that sneezing at it would do anything. what a silly expression.

Thanks for doing a cover with the varying choruses; "If you leave it on the left side, will you find it on the right" was my mother's favorite line.

Some folk's just can't follow the rule's.
alonzogarbanzo 2 years ago
well correctly it should be the mamas' and the papas' its plural and when your using an apostraphy with the plural it goes on the end
