  • Ernest Bruer is my great grandfather. I knew my great grandparents as Moms and Pops. My mother would take my brother and I to there house as young kids. Moms would always make her chicken noodle soup when we'd come. Moms and pops would play piano for us and sing all afternoon. I would give anything for my kids to have that experience. I love and miss them. Robert Knupp

  • @rjknupp You were certainly lucky to have had that experience. Music is such an important part of life.

  • I Love your accent so much!!!!!!

  • It depends on where you put it on the bedpost. It may taste like old Knickers!

  • @alneal100 Good point!

  • I had this song stuck in my head and my fiance didn't believe me that it was a real song! Thanks so much for proving me right!

  • @LollieLota You're welcome. It is a bit hard to believe!

  • LOL! Funny song!!!!!!!!!

  • @godtheonyt Thanks for subscribing.

  • @raymondcrooke Don't thank me. I'm just doin' my job as a youtuber. Thank yourself for being awesome! Lol! (Just made that up now!)

  • ...is this song supposed to be sexual?? :-X

  • @serpico89 I don't think so.

  • Thanks for doing a cover with the varying choruses; "If you leave it on the left side, will you find it on the right" was my mother's favorite line.

  • @CapriUni You're welcome. How does it get from left to right? A bit scary really!

  • @raymondcrooke I'm not sure. But I suspect the paid lobbyists to the American Congress are involved, somehow... I doubt it's a coincidence that that chorus is linked to the White House.

  • My dad used to play that song every time he got drunk and screw it all up!

  • Ah! Happy memories!

  • @raymondcrooke And irreplaceable ones at that.

  • Thanks for subscribing.

  • really like your songs and guitar play man...

    absolutely awesome

  • Thank you. Nice to know people enjoy my songs.

  • My all-time favorite is probably the title of the Mamas and the Papas' first album: "The Mama's and the Papa's." I always wondered: the Mama's and Papa's WHAT?

    Some folk's just can't follow the rule's.

  • well correctly it should be the mamas' and the papas' its plural and when your using an apostraphy with the plural it goes on the end

  • I'll be more constructive here: you are probably confusing the possesseive plural apostrophe ("the boys' room") with nthe simple plural. Once again: don't use apostrophes with plurals unless you're pluralizing digits ("1's and 2's") or letter names ("there are two a's in banana").

  • On the topic of apostrophes, here in the US the apostrophe appears to be dying; I don't know if it's a result of poor education, laziness, or what, but "your" where "you're" is meant is so common now one is apt to find it in CNN news stories, where once one would mostly expect to see it in the writing of adolescents. "Drivers license", "girls basketball", "owners expense", etc. are now the "correct" spelling.

Hell in a handbasket, that's where we're headed, by cracky, grumble gripe.

  • And it's all the fault of us teachers!

  • Speak for yourself, sir!

  • How is it that you've been raiding my "songs to do on YouTube" list? Do you have some secret underground tunnel into my computer's hard drive?

    This is wonderful.

  • Oops! You've found me out!

  • o my what an oldie******

  • Who? Me?

  • Great song. And well done.

  • Thank you.

  • I love this song. I was very young when LOnnie Donegan released it. It was a great hit here - haven´t heard it for say 50 years!

  • Thanks for watching.

  • lol... this is another blast from the past! A song that if you ever heard it once, you would remember it again! You are a true gem and very appreciated in this community.

  • Thanks, Jay. Yes, it's one of those songs that are hard to forget - even if you want to!

  • I haven't heard this one for years! Thanks for the history. I thought it was written in the 60's. Great rendition! Thanks!

Sending my happy thoughts through the looking-glass.

    ♡ ƙarolyn

  • Thanks, Karolyn. It's certainly one we don't hear much these days - perhaps for good reasons!

  • Haven't heard this in a long time. I learned it from the Irish Rovers once upon a time... great singing here!

  • Thanks, Jennifer. I haven't heard their rendition. I'll look out for it.

  • Wow! That brings back memories from a time before I was born! Cheers! 5*

  • Amazing! How do you remember that far back? : -)

  • my grandpa used to sing this to me since i was a kid...

    great job, raymond!

  • I must remember to sing it to my grandkids. Might just wait until they're old enough to know what chewing gum is!

  • Great. This brings back good memories. You did a fine job with it. Thanks for posting it.

  • Thanks, Bill. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Yes it does, Raymond, I've done this before. It stales like everything else left out like that

  • They should have asked you in the first place, Serge!

  • oh man that's a good one

  • But we never do get an answer to the all-important question!

  • lol

but to have articulated one of the truly important questions is nothing to sneeze at. not that sneezing at it would do anything. what a silly expression.

  • Wonderful vocals as always raymond XD

  • Thanks for watching.

  • Okay i have not herd this song since i was 6.

Thank's for bring it back raymond.
