whatever meat it is, just don't let the animal suffer while it's being killed. Sadly, some people cannot take the meat out of the diet (may the reason be poverty, tradition, lifestyle, health needs, etc) if you're going to kill something, do it quick. :( I salute vegetarians..I just hope animal cruelty ends-and by that, I mean how the animals are killed for food :( p.s. i don't eat dogs.

New Zealand Courts ruled that a person who barbecue his own dog for food in his own yard is within his rights under proprietorship principles and that constitutional gurantees assured him to be free from punishment in handling his property. Ironically New Zelander Sirus with their hired goons rounded up poor filipino dog catchers who are only trying to make a living and since they can't pay 5000 peso fine, they languished in jail.

Not all filipinos eat dog, i am a filipina, my family don't eat dog..there some people in my country really do that especially those people who got nothing to do to their life but to drink alcohol all day and then if they got no money they will decide to kill a dog to eat while they are drinking...I just wish that philippine government will raise a organization to protect dogs there.

Fom 1995 to the present SIRUS failed to prove a single case of theft on the people that they jailed. If we can raise cows for food then why can't Asians not raise dogs for food? What's the difference. I am filipino. I do not like it -- it is just our conscience that tells us what is "right" or "wrong" and even as a child, I am inocent at that time and I did not know that it is our culture to eat dogs. When I realized that some filipino people eats dogs, well, for me, I did not want to accept that kind of "culture". "Culture" can be change and it is not permanent. It is obvious that dogs are just a house pets and cats too not unlike other animals.

What I find wrong is stealing pets. Also, dogs aren't very safe to eat due to rabies. These are the 2 main reasons why the dog meat trade should be discouraged. Other than that, dogs aren't the only animals with "personality" u know. You'll only notice it if you emotionally attach yourself to an animal. So don't condone others who are doing the same thing as u: eating animals. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs & I own one, but other people love their pet pigs & chickens too.

That's why dogs are so undyingly loyal to humans... because we were companions for ages and co-evolved together. Its hard-coded in their DNA to love and trust people. Selective breeding since then has produced variation of appearance in the domestic dog, but dogs and wolves can still breed and produce reproductive offspring. Even the gov't is already having a hard time getting rid of all the stray dogs that roam the streets. Go try saving all the millions of stray dogs here - you CAN'T. These dogs breed easily, and so can be easily traded for their meat. Don't you realize this is an impoverished country! For every 1 dog u save there's probably 3 more being eaten. Filipinos LOVE dogs as companions. As a Filipina myself I am SURE, if we weren't in such conditions the trade would NOT exist!
You can keep trying to save dogs like this, but if you don't get to the root of the problem, the trade WILL ALWAYS exist. You're just going to keep saving dogs and you're also just going to keep seeing more being sent to slaughter for each dog you save. I'm a dog lover too but if you really want to solve this problem the solution lies in education. With enough access to education for EVERY Filipino, there's a greater possibility to tackle corruption and improve the economy. There won't be hungry families who need to sell their pets to the trade. There will be less crimes like this one. Don't blame poor people. By all means..im not against it. i hate the idea of dogs and cats getting killed, im a proud owner of 2 dogs. but as long as they are raised on a farm and humanely killed, like cows, then its fine. but not treated badly and killed inhumanly.

I am filipino. I do not like it -- it is just our conscience that tells us what is "right" or "wrong" and even as a child, I am inocent at that time and I did not know that it is our culture to eat dogs. When I realized that some filipino people eats dogs, well, for me, I did not want to accept that kind of "culture". "Culture" can be change and it is not permanent. It is obvious that dogs are just a house pets and cats too not unlike other animals.

What I find wrong is stealing pets. Also, dogs aren't very safe to eat due to rabies. These are the 2 main reasons why the dog meat trade should be discouraged. Other than that, dogs aren't the only animals with "personality" u know. You'll only notice it if you emotionally attach yourself to an animal. Selective breeding since then has produced variation of appearance in the domestic dog, but dogs and wolves can still breed and produce reproductive offspring. Immorality & naivety are human conceits, and undying devotion is an anthropomorphic view. So all up, you have not presented a compelling argument for not eating dog meat.

These people are SICK! - Go and eat their own family. GOD= DOG and Dogs are-"BESTS MAN FRIENDS" !!! I wish one day the time comes the dog will eat them! The Government should take this as a serious matter!!!

Even the gov't is already having a hard time getting rid of all the stray dogs that roam the streets. Go try saving all the millions of stray dogs here - you CAN'T. These dogs breed easily, and so can be easily traded for their meat. Don't you realize this is an impoverished country! For every 1 dog u save there's probably 3 more being eaten. Filipinos LOVE dogs as companions. As a Filipina myself I am SURE, if we weren't in such conditions the trade would NOT exist!

You can keep trying to save dogs like this, but if you don't get to the root of the problem, the trade WILL ALWAYS exist. You're just going to keep saving dogs and you're also just going to keep seeing more being sent to slaughter for each dog you save. The root of the problem is corruption and the interference of the church in the country that keeps Filipinos impoverished and desperate. Education and population control are the key!

I'm a dog lover too but if you really want to solve this problem the solution lies in education. With enough access to education for EVERY Filipino, there's a greater possibility to tackle corruption and improve the economy. There won't be hungry families who need to sell their pets to the trade. There will be less crimes like this one. Don't blame poor people. If you're in their position chances are you get sucked into doing things even you yourself don't LIKE to do but HAVE to.

Only poor filipinos eating dog make these wanabe white people disown there brothers, comparing to how many innocent Vietnamese are killed in the name of democracy? Let's look at slaughter houses in USA, would it make the rest of the world hate white people for shooting cows to death and skinning them to use for leather jackets that wannabe whites love to wear?.

When people will stop eating dog meat?????....well doesn't mean if the dog meat trade end ..I will end my donations but at least i know my donation is doing something effective!

@esexen People will stop eating or selling dog meat when people are no longer desperate. This isn't the U.S. or Europe. People here are oppressed by corruption, poverty, and lack of education. If u really want to help, donate to an organization that focuses on education. Support Reproductive Health Bill to be passed in this country. The less people there are, the better access to education, and less desperate they are. Ultimately, that will lower crimes like this one.

@cutemedli7 . The difference that you dont realize is that dogs have the ability to love humans unconditionally, and learn obedience in a very fun way. All of humanity can not survive without meat provided from cows, pigs, and chickens. You dont understand, without that meat, humanity would die off and we wouldnt be getting the nutrients our bodys need. The biggest difference is how inhumane these dogs are slaughtered, they are skinned alive and then left there.

my dog is my soul mate, I love her more then I have loved anything else, in fact, she is laying on my bed snoring loudly and I love it. the fact that these dogs have to go throughthis makes me sick :( how can you do this to an animal that is so capable of love? it is like putting a child through this :(

My people here treat dogs as guardians. So by doing that, they do not take care of them very well by feeding them leftovers no matter how poisinous or dangerous that can be for the dogs such as chicken bones (wings), etc. Also, they beat them in order to "toughen up" against strangers that will trespass their territories such as thieves. I seem to know that the filipino attitude for treating dogs are highly malicious that they don't even care about animal's rights and health.

@KRS1LEGEND I could get more peace and happiness than I could in any relationship or marriage; I feel more and for a stray dog than I would a homeless man. Because a man can rob,steal,or pillage. A dog/animal has no idea of whats going on around them they just need love and comfort, a man can do "anything" to survive.

this infuriates me and saddens me so much ...whats actually done to these people when caught? and are the fines enforced?....what if they re offend?

By all means..im not against it. i hate the idea of dogs and cats getting killed, im a proud owner of 2 dogs. but as long as they are raised on a farm and humanely killed, like cows, then its fine. but not treated badly and killed inhumanly.

I have nothing against eating dogs or cats, as long as they are farm grown like cows, treated humanely and then subsequently killed humanely. But taking pets and brutally killing them, tearing them apart into scraps then selling them like they were nothing? Just highlights the incredibly black heart of the human being. You are all capable of this, as am I. If anyone of you was offered a billion dollars to kill and eat a dog, you would most certainly do it.
