  • fedelcode 20 siren very rare!!!!

  • why not...if ya got it send it

  • okay some tell me this.... is it me or are those very slow bay doors...our are not that slow

  • If you look back through the older comments on this video, we already explained that the doors *were* slow, but the company that installed them has since replaced all of the motors, belts and pulleys and made them a lot faster now. Thanks for the comment, though!

  • It is a Fedelcode siren. I found a hi-res picture of it on the siren archive.

  • that house siren would get annoyin after a while

  • I found a photo of this siren on the town's website. It looks like a two tier FedelCode, but I'm not sure...

  • I love the fire siren! How many calls a year does this fire dept. respond to?

  • The Mount Union Fire Company and Ambulance Service responds to 1,000 - 1,200 calls per year, and is getting busier each year. The bulk of the calls are EMS, however, we handle over 200 Fire Calls each year.

  • Cool, my fire company hasnt used a fire siren for over 20 years, we just use the siren for tornado warnings here in kansas.

  • is it a model 2t

  • That looks more like a SoundMaster 115 to me. Look carefully at 0:42.

  • or it could be a thunderbolt 1000 low tone

  • Its a soundmaster 115...

  • I don't think it is. It looks too much like one of the rare dual-chopper Fedelcodes, especially from the picture on the Siren Archive.

  • No, it's definitely a Fedelcode. I live about a half hour from Mount Union, and I took a drive the one day to go see it. It resembles two Model 5/7s stacked on top of each other. I heard it activate while I was at a gas station a few miles away, and for some reason, I remember it being slightly higher pitched, like it had 8 ports, but I may be mistaken.

All I know is that it is definitely part of the Federal Signal family tree.

  • model .... what model again?

  • model 7 ?

  • hey it's the old elementary school at 1:02 ^_^

  • wat kind of siren. nice sound long response

  • Why does an ambulance respond to a chimney fire?..

  • Please see the previous comments...

  • Usually if a firefighter gets hurt, someone has smoke innhalation, or somebody is hurt at the scene.

  • When the doors go up its like a part in a movie when the director wants to make a character make a slow entrance. LOL

  • Could the bay doors open any slower?!

  • No... they were extremely slow, and we have since resolved that issue - the company that installed them came back and put all new motors and parts in and they are 3x faster now!

  • Cool!! Heck you could press the button to open the doors and then get you gear on and be in the truck and the doors still would be going up.

  • And were they that slow when you first got them?

  • Yes... they were that slow when we first got them, but the company came back and replaced the motors, the pulleys, and the electronics and now they are a lot faster!

  • what kind of siren is it?

  • i do not like the alam going off

  • the city or vol.

  • By the way, great response time

  • Great vid!But why piss off the whole neighbourhood with the siren, surely you can afford a pager system, your the land of the free and the home of the brave!!

  • Thanks for the comments! In fact, the community as a whole is very supportive of our fire company. While we do have a pager system in place (hence, the tones and radio dispatch that can be heard at the beginning of the vid) we do have members still that rely on the "whistle" to know there is a call. Not to mention good ole' fashioned "tradition"! :-)

  • It's best to have two separate systems in case one fails. If the pagers fail, the siren is still there to call out the firefighters. If the siren fails, the pagers can call out the firefighters.

  • Absolutely... redundancy is a good thing!

  • Thanks, this is a great vid and I loved seeing the entire progression of steps for a response!

  • Gas and Desal prices must be killing you guys too.

  • For a Volunteer fire department that was a good respond time. and the ambulance is a good thing always nice to have one there just in case. i start class to become and EMT hopefully jan. cant wait to join the family of Firefighters and EMTS. again good respond time.

  • wow that's a long fire allert

  • The house siren runs for I believe 3 minutes...

  • I was very curious as to what this siren sounded like. I live in Altoona, and have passed through Mount Union specifically to find this siren. I would have assumed it was dual tone.

  • Which Siren are you referring to? Do you mean the house siren, or the sirens on the apparatus? The Quint uses a Federal Q and Whelen electronic siren. The ambulances have dual tone electric sirens on board...

Thanks for the comment, if you'd like any other information just ask!

  • I was speaking of the house siren. Thanks for the reply!

  • Gees! you guys take a long time to respond! We have a 7000 population city and our fire department get there in less than a minute!

  • Keep in mind that we are a completely volunteer fire department, where the volunteers wear pagers and have to respond to the fire station, dress, and then roll on the call... We actually have one of the quicker responses of the departments in the area... Thanks for the comment, though! :-)

  • Respond an AMBULANCE on a chimney fire?

    Ridiculous.

    Nice video capture.

    Thanks

    Robert (firefighter & chimney sweep)

  • We respond an ambulance on ALL fire calls - more so to provide service to firefighters including rehab (I know, there's not much "rehab" at a chimney fire), support, and God forbid a f/f get injured the ambulance is already there. Not to mention our ambulance crews are usually made up of firefighters also - so it's additional manpower at the scene. Thanks for the comment...

  • What comment? It didn't appear.

Interesting that you captured the whole call from activation to response.

    Nice. Thanks

  • Sorry... forgot to hit the "approve" button! My bad. Thanks again for the comment. I work as a police officer across the street from the Fire Hall, so I was able to get the whole call - hence the walking part (sorry about that!)

  • QC1 tones FTW!

  • i love that siren
