I'm trying to get my 11-year-old daughter and her friends to play this tune, and this is the most helpful (and accurate) guitar tutorial I've found so far. I couldn't find a keyboard tutorial for the song, so once I figured it out, I posted one of my own, which appears now as a "video response" to this video. Hope you don't mind, Mike!
Wow, I've just come from listening to many people brutalize this song while looking for a decent cover of it, and you are the first one who has nailed the guitar :) Do you have a cover of the song? or just the lesson?
Glad lots of you guys are benefiting from the video. Glad I could help. Tom Petty's Greatest Hits collection is a staple for any guitarist....keep playin!
Very nice keyboard substitution there. Missing a small bit of the lead solo. The part right before the little keyboard thing on the 15th fret. Am I right?
Tom plays full barre chords on the chorus, Mike not.
One of the better lessons on uTube.
Nice guitar tone there. What kind of amplifier are you playing through?
Actually, when I watched your video again, I noticed that the video ends right where the longest solo would have begun. Where the rest of the video and song?
Anyways, I had a lot of fun last night playing until 3 in the morning with your video. I love Tom Petty.
How about coving Mike Cambells lead solo on the Fleetwood mac song they covered called "Oh well".
I liked it, got it down and wanted to say thanks for giving a great lesson.

Thanks! I was running through POD Farm on that one..I forget the exact preset, but it was nothing complicated...they got some great stock tones.
As for the missing part; possibly; I took it all straight out of the book, but there's a chance I could have missed something.
