  • @scottclements78 gold coast omfg so many bogans there hahaha

  • America the best!

  • @Dimitri0809 Err with all that crime & selfish, greedy corrupt ways? ha I'll stay in Australia haha xD. Melbounre is the best tho i rather live in Sydney =)

  • @Dimitri0809 Watch: Melbourne City Lifestyle - Victoria Australia

& tell me if there is a city like that any where else on earth?

  • @GayBoyRunning

Yeah well where's ur homosexual community in Melbourne, you don't have one because no one is interested in a place that is geographically isolated from the rest of the world. Just come to america dude, it's big, it's ideal, we have the biggest homosexual communities in new york too. I'm not gay by the way but new york has one of the biggest homosexual communities in the world.

Our immigration stats have said that people from other parts of the world want permanent residence..

  • @GayBoyRunning

In America because they love it so much.

  • @Dimitri0809 if they dont die 1st lolz

  • Great Vid. Well done. To see a HD vid of Brisbane go to my dedicated Brisbane Channel and select

    Brisbane Australia.

  • What are the songs?

  • You down there in Australia.

You cant fight about what city is the best, because there will always be different meanings, and you have to stay together. You should stay together and support each other instead of insulting each others cities.

You've got a beautiful country with many beautiful cities.

Im coming down to Melbourne or Adelaide to study in a few years. Which of this two cities do you recommend?

Im from Oslo, Norway by the way =)

  • @88fwan Man i am from europe as u, and i tell u that u cant compare adeaide with melbourne! Melbourne is much much much better! Sydney is also beautiful (but not better than melbourne)!

perth and brisbane are not better than melbourne(but if u look for warm weather, then they r better than melbourne) but they are much better than adelaide!

  • @RacofItaly Thanks mate. I think its much warmer down there no matter what city i go to, so thats no problem at all. Have you been in Melbourne by the way?

  • @88fwan

our capital, ACT, was built because melbourne and sydney were fighting who it should be. Melbourne is more ideal for tourists, I've never been to Adelaide but hear it has its own charm.

Adelaide has some really good universities though.

  • Dubai is going to be bigger than this city is a few years

  • Yea melbourne home of hardstyle shuffle!! XD

but brisbane is the maddest city!

  • I hate dirty retarded racist land Australia

  • @serbetli100 There is racism that exists in every country, even in Japan. I would ask if you would kindly refrain from judging an entire country with millions of people. There are many good, some bad.

  • Australia needs a Las Vegas, a Los Angeles and a New York, then we're good to go ;D

  • @aaalexishhh ummmmm then we would be America, do you want Australia to be America???

  • may not be the biggest of cities but there great though :) aussie pride baby!!!!

  • Australia!!!

  • great video! i think melbourne looks the best, but that's partly because of the photos. the pictures are all good, but I think that Perth and Brisbane could have used more inner-city shots to make the comparison a bit more balanced.

  • i know some australians that live here in england and looking at these theres no reason to leave australia

  • its so awsome to know that each city and state in australia is so different in its own way and so special in its own way... they are so unique and hard to compare! and each city has something BREATHTAKING to offer :) so proud to be australian!

  • I live in Perth and its so great. The beaches are great and its not too dense. The one problem about perth is money its the most expensive city in aus. With a house on the swan river costing 70 million but a great city. Love living there

  • im from toronto ii like to live in Autralia due to its nice weather or climate....i feel bore in canadian weather so chilly.............I hate canada

  • @shazz0300 Be warned; Australia might be a jolt to the system, climate-wise. Melbourne and Hobart have the coldest consistent weather, Brisbane and Perth the warmest. Perth makes up for it with uncluttered beaches. The Gold Coast has too many hotels on the beach.

  • im from Toronto and i think these cities a wonderful but i think that Toronto's skyline is unbeatable.

  • ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL AUSTRALIA

I DON'T WANT ANY OTHER COUNTRY!!!!!!!! EVER

  • im from Australia why is it so facinating to all other countries this place is shit!

  • @ChloeDeborah1 Well then leave.

  • @philletsubu Oh Yeah? well explain a reason as to why this place is so great to you tourists.

  • Racist shit

  • I dont like live in Australia becos very dirty noisy and stupid people walking the streets, gangsters of arabs.

  • @krongtheep You got that mixed up with america

  • @krongtheep Sounds like Thailand.

  • is it just me or is Melbourne just like any other city in the world.... there is nothing distinctive about it ...? it looks like many many american cities just sqaure shaped skyrises and a skinny dull river thru the middle... I like the Gold Coast ..! its simply great

  • @paddlepopkid

And you know something, in every city, there is a China Town, now, there building a Melbourne Town in China, that's how good Melbourne is,

    Check this link out:

    micm.com.au/real-estate-news/?pagecall=content&contentID=69448

  • @ashleybrient Wow... you just shot yourself in the foot... so if China builds a dupilicate of Melbourne... I guess Melbourne really is a city that can just be copied... maybe becoz its just an ordinary city, that is has not distinction... you know the fact is, Sydneysiders couldn't care less about what melborne prides itself on.... coz if Sydeny had everything... this country would be Sydney not Australia...seriously how old r u.. 12.? ur comments sound pathetic... like bikes, and stadiums.

  • @paddlepopkid

Are you really that dumb?? i'm know where near 12, (In the 20's) loser!

now, i think you are really dumb!!! they want to build a Melbourne Town because of how nice it is, the wide streets, cafes/bars, Culture, and lifestyle,

And no, - Melbourne always changes, Sydney always stays the same, that's why Sydney is so shit,

They wouldn't build a Sydney Town because there scared no one would visit, i know i wouldn't! but a Melbourne Tonw, the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ashleybrient I think anyone reading our rather pointless debate, would conclude that u are mentally disabled... nooo they can't build a Sydney... because its impossible to build an artificial version of the worlds largest natural habour, and created 40 beaches, and replicate some of the architecture it has to offer... both hisotric and modern.. Sydney is a city that has grown over 220years... Melboune is a city that was drawn up on paper to compete with Sydney almost 50years later

  • Comment removed

  • oo wow u stayed in cantebury, big fuckn deal

  • there was Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth but where is adelade n cairns

i am from Sydney n sure i love sydney more than melbourne..i have lived there for 2 yrs....

    anyway nice clip

  • Sydney has the Opera House

    Sydney has the Harbour Bridge

Sydney has the best beaches / beautiful harbour

    Sydney has International Recognition

Melbourne has been voted Most Liveable City 4 times this decade

Melbourne has been voted the Ultimate Sports City twice in the past 3 years

Melbourne has all the best sporting events, and has a culture of its own

No doubt it is a tough call, but I'd vote Melbourne, just because there is more to a city than a bridge and the opera...

  • You forgot for Sydney, The Mardigra :P

  • No offence but Melbourne has no unique icons.

  • @clubpenguin777

Melbourne has things like the MCG, also, Melbourne has a world class Health and Education system which is much better than Sydney's

  • thats where your very wrong....? Because Sydney is far from just " a bridge" and "opera house" and "beaches" (apart from both these icons having culture significance during two depressions) Those two Icons are just signitures of the city... Sydney has everything Melbourne has to offer, plus more... i think people just need to imagine the opera and bridge and beaches weren't there,, and you'll still see, its the most beautiful city with a funky culture!!

  • hmmmm secondly (still @jono52795) do you know how a city gets voted the most Livable ...? it has nothing to do with a city being "better" as such... its most about Property Prices (melbourne is far cheaper than sydney and probaly for a reason, and also State Government Stability and Town Planning... plus if u go onto Wikipedia... your facts are wrong... melbourne was ranked 3rd in 2007 i think and where did u get 4 times from..? see melbourne gets one medal... and it brags about it Forever

  • @paddlepopkid

Now, Melbourne is the 3rd liveable city, and it's got nothing to do with how cheap a city is!! it's got to do with, transport, Education, Health, etc, look it up, i have!!!!!!!!

Also, Melbourne is much more well planned than Sydney, Melbourne streets are wide, and Melbourne has laneways with cafe/bars etc, don't don't!

  • @ashleybrient can you seriously... fuk off and get a life, perhapes even grow a brain..? Sydney is the most beautiful city... end of storey, your stupid debate is pointless, Melbourne is nothing in comparision to Sydney.... what makes melbourne distinctive..? its a city with a serious idenity crisis... always comparing itself to Europe & New York... like please.... everything Sydney does, melbourne only copies a few years later anyway

  • @paddlepopkid

Melbourne has never copied Sydney, like, how the fuck has Melbourne copied Sydney, Sydney is nothing but shit,

Sydney copied the colour of the Police uniforms and cars from Melbourne in the 1990, Sydney were also trying to get the AFL Grand Final, the Australian Open and the Grand Prix which are all in Melbourne!!

  • @ashleybrient no buddy.... your extremely wrong.... Sydney didn't want shit.... the even organisers decided it was better in terms of gross revunue and money for these events to move to sydney... not the people, we couldn't care less... but melbourne being melbourne, spend like $660million upgrading the Tennis Arena's to keep it in Melbourne until 2030... read up about it b4 making false statements and we don't even play AFL, why would we want the final... we compete internationly with rubgy

  • @paddlepopkid event organisers** suggested it should move ...

  • @paddlepopkid

Yes, the NSW Government were trying to get all 3, it's stated, look it up! and yes, Melbourne spend money on projects like upgrading stadiums, in which helps keep the Australian Open etc, that's good because it gives us better stadiums and gives us more money because we get to keep the Australian Open which generates over 150 million per year in to the Victorian Economy, and AFL does play in Sydney!! it's the most watched game in Australia!

  • noooo the NSW Government were not trying to do anything.... please, our Government is corrupt, haven't you been watching the news... the reason why Sydney is becoming backwards.. is because the Government is completely Ratshit... and has been for the last 20years... and this Kristina Keneally is ruining our state, her government and its scandles, like four mp's have quite, and 1 been sacked... and she won't let an election go ahead, but nonetheless, Sydney is still way beautiful

  • @paddlepopkid

Right, i did notice that just now, 'The NSW Premier's in damage control, warning his ministers they'll be sacked if corruption claims against them are proven',

But about a year ago, they were trying to get 3 games, 1 at a time, it would have depended on how much money they would spend on it!

  • @ashleybrient believe me... NSW government is in much deeper water than what you'v said, but your on the right path.... how about the fact that our population takes more than an hour to get to work.... for the last few years, the NSW government has spend more than $360million in planning our well over due new METRO system, and compulsorying acqiuring land... and last minute, it was all scrapped. i don't know why Sydney would want the AFL final, we don't even play it and barely watch it

  • @paddlepopkid

You know, Melbourne only has 100.000 people less than Sydney, Melbourne also has issues, mainly with public transport, within the next 2 years as they say, there will be around 2 millon people heading to Melbourne City every day for work, and that number hasn't even been reached in any city of Australia yet.

  • @paddlepopkid

It seems like the NSW labor party is trying!

  • Comment removed

  • @paddlepopkid

You say Sydney has more lol, Melbourne has a public bike hire system with 50 bike stations and 600 bikes between them, Sydney don't have one at all!!

Melbourne also has all the stadiums, the world famous MCG, etc, Melbourne has 14 stadiums, while Sydney has 2, and the ones in Stadiums have no transport, in Melbourne the trains and trams head right to the stadiums, Melbourne also has the Icehouse which is the largest in Australia, don't forget Southern Star!

  • @ashleybrient continued reply>> Pffttt everything Melbourne does is an epic fail, becoz it has suffers an identity crisis, and continually feels inferior to its bigger, blonder, bolder sister... like Southern Star..?? hahaha that lasted 2mths b4 being faulty... and as goes for Aami Park... it leaks everywhere.. as far as Sydney having only 2staduims... last i counted, it had alot more than that. pfftt Bikes..? ummm bikes are so not the fasted way to travel, who cares about bikes u toss-wank.

  • Comment removed

  • @ashleybrient STOP MESSAGING ME with Stupidty.... everything u debate about is pointless and stupid.... Sydneysiders couldn't care less... every other australian knows Melbourne only does things to compete with its so called "rival" the government spends money stupidly in order to gain people's confidence... and copies everything about sydney... and as far as so called Culture.... who has the largest Big Day Out Festival... largest culture festival - Sydney Festival and Australia FashionWk?

  • @paddlepopkid

And yes, it's even stated on federal reports that Sydney spends money on promotion to try and get people there, that's the only way people know about Sydney,

Yes, it's true, that's one of the reasons why the Commonwealth Government don't give them as much funding as some of the other states, projects etc! because all NSW spend it on is promotion!!

  • @paddlepopkid

And you know something, Melbourne was the first and only city in Australia to host the Commonwealth Heads Of Government meeting in 1981, and the first Olympic Games!

  • @ashleybrient pfftt... wow.... another melbournian with a massive inferior chip on his shoulder... bragging about things melbourne has done or has....who cares about the commonewealth heads meeting in 1981... like big woop..get a life... Sydney is everything International about Australia... and the thing is... its people couldn't care less... Sydney just gets everything, becoz of its beautiful location. Sydney promotes what it has, just like any other city, only thing is Sydney has more.

  • @paddlepopkid

Your comments have a lot of things wrong with them!! now, Melbourne has, public transport, - train, tram, bus and bike (Public bikes system), Sydney only has train and bus!!

  • @paddlepopkid

You see, between bike, train, tram and bus, there not all the same, they go there speed etc, trams are mainly for the city and suburbs which stop a lot which is great, bus are kinda the same, trains mainly head 5, 10 20km away etc, bikes are great within the city, mainly if people don't want to wait for other transport, loser lol

  • My favorite city has definitely got to be MELBOURNE hands down!!! Love the architecture, live music scene, sports, fashion, culture, arts & entertainment, cafes/restaurants/bars, the hidden laneways, parks & gardens, the people, the vibe. omg, i could go on lol. The Gold Coast is stunning as well. beautiful beach and weather and laid back atmosphere

  • Most Aussies are proud of the city they come from, but there's always some cock head from Melbourne that has to insult everyone else to make themselves feel good.

I'm not just saying this because I'm from Adelaide.

  • Ya, and it's always the dicks from Melbourne who start it. I LOVE Sydney but all of Australia is stunning.

I am fortunate to have dual citizenship and am really homesick even though I am American :(

God, I love you guys! Best people, clean, great life all round. I'm coming back to stay and my boyfriend is coming with me. He's not loud and obnoxious...promise :)

    ( but I am) :DD

  • @83uoykcuf

Your talking shit, the only city Melbourne don't like is Sydney, that's because in 1901 when Melbourne was elected as the Australian capital, they hated it and started this shit between both cities. - Perth's a great city, so is brisbane (the Gold Coast is better), Hobart isn't that big but it's alright, adelaide (It isn't that big as well, there is only 1 million there), where's with Melbourne, there are 4.5 million! NT is nice as well!

  • @ashleybrient I'm just speaking from experience mate.. Coming from Adelaide I've spoken to many people from Melbourne and when they come here they constantly compare Adelaide to Melbourne, saying that Melbourne is better.. In some ways that may be true, but my house was cheaper than yours, my yard is bigger than yours, I live on the beach and it's affordable. From the CBD I can be on a nice beach or a forest in the hills in 20 minutes. Melbourne isn't better, it's just different.

  • @83uoykcuf

Your from Adelaide, i've got nothing against Adelaide! but, Adelaide only has just over a million people, but when you look at Melbourne and than Adelaide, Melbourne has more to do, Melbourne is known as the IT, Fashion and Shopping capital of Australia, including the Sports capital of the world!

We've got nothing against Adelaide, we just don't like Sydney, there the same!

  • @ashleybrient

Your right in some ways, but, depends on what you define better,

In Melbourne you can go 70km and still be in the metro area, while in other cities like Adelaide, Perth and Hobart, you just go a few km and your in the country!

It really depends if you like a big city or not, Melbourne city has a lot but there is a lot of people, like, Melbourne has things like the Icehouse, the Southern Star, MCG etc

  • @ashleybrient In Perth, you have to go at least 40km in any direction before you get out of the suburban area, and at least 70km before you hit the boundary of the Perth metro area. It's not as densely packed, their cops have Tasers, and it's not the chaos of Sydney. More thought went into planning the place, despite the fact that Perth started 5 years before Victoria was even settled

  • @ashleybrient

And, because Melbourne is big, it has a large transport network, which at the moment has issues anyway,

In Melbourne, all metro trains are operated by power, the trains in Adelaide are not operated by power, but i seen some where that the SA Government are going to be funding that soon!

  • @ashleybrient Make sure the committees that make it happen consult with other states about what they did. Victoria could have easily asked the SA or WA government about their smart ticketing system. Instead they blow 1.3 billion on a ticketing system that still doesn't work. They order 65 noew passenger railcars, and all have problems. WA had theirs built in Queensland, towed across the Nullarbor, and ready to go in weeks

  • @83uoykcuf I agree with you... Melbournians continually bully other Oz cities... that ashleybrient won't leave me alone, i think Melbourn suffers an identity crisis.. coz no matter how hard it tries, with all its public work projects like festivales and icon building, it just can't beat Sydney... the sad this is, Sydenysiders don't have this hate towards Melbournians, infact we are proud that Australia has Melboure, coz otherwise there would b no Australia... it'd simly be called Sydney

  • @83uoykcuf How true! How many braindead idiots persist in bagging Perth and Adelaide because we don't partake in their level of stupidity? Just because we don't have 24/7 nightclubs and the associated problems, and didn't kill our foreshores and coastlines with excessive development

  • @83uoykcuf it's all right were all sick of victorians. No offence even though i'm gonna get shit loads of hate comments and maybe at least one person backing me up

  • @83uoykcuf i cant agree more :) ... well said lol and i know this for a fact as i own a house in melbourne and i own a house in sydney. You go to melbourne and you have EVERYONE saying how much better they are to everyone eles when in sydney and all the other cities they dont lol :P

  • I'm from Adelaide. Sydney is WAY better than Melbourne. Melbourne has the biggest inferiority complex ever. YOU'RE NUMBER 2, GET THE FUCK OVER IT!

  • Typical South Australian.

    Go Root Your Sister.

  • @Wardenclyffeforever

Why because Sydney has more crime than Melbourne, and more homeless people, and, is that why Sydney try to copy Melbourne, and Melbourne is the Sports capital of the world with all the stadiums, also, the Grand Prix, Australian Open, the International Airshow and the AFL Grand Final are in Melbourne! Sydney was trying to get them but didn't work!!

  • @ashleybrient No because I've been getting the impression that Melbourne is full of arrogant tossers who think they're better than everyone else. You have done more than most to reaffirm this belief for me, so well done I guess.

  • @Wardenclyffeforever

I think your talking about Sydney or shit, why is it there trying to get everything from Melbourne, in the way of Sports, Fashion, etc,

Don't compete with other cities, i just told you some things and that's it,

Adelaide still has titles, such as being the Wine capital!

  • I live in the countryside about 10 miles from Manchester, UK and am defo a country boy, not keen on cities. But Sydney is beautiful - the skyline simply takes your breath away and Darling harbour is amazing. For a city (compared to others I've been to - London, New York, Manc etc) it's very laid back & not as intimidating. I know people who have emigrated to both Melbourne (Geelong) & Brisbane and they love their cities - must visit these too soon. Toured Oz for 3 weeks but needed more time!

  • Hi, this vid is cool. Australia is beautiful :) please check out my video "cities of australia" too please! i live in manchester, uk and our cities are nowhere near as beautiful as australia's. but our cities are cool too :) x

  • I am going to move to australia after i finish university here in london!...this video mad it sooo hard to choose where to move to! lol

    great pics!

  • move to melbourne! it's the best of the lot..full of culture, style and sophistication!

  • move to melbourne. i was born in sydney then i moved to brisbane then melbourne and i stayed here and without a doubt melbourne is the best but sydneys a close 2nd

  • Defiantly Melbourne, it is beautiful city, it is easy to navigate around, it has been voted the Third Most Livable city in the World for 2009. It's extremely multi-cultural, its arguably the Sporting Capital of The World (Only competing with your home town :P)

All in all it is a wonderful city, vibrant, beautiful, adventurous. XD

  • @kitteffa

If you want liveability, Sports and transport etc, head to Melbourne, Melbourne also has Australia's only public bike hire system, Melbourne is the Sports capital of the world and the fashion capital of Australia, it also has the world's largest tram network!

  • @kitteffa Dude i'm from canada and reading/seing videos of Australia make me want to go live there. The weather is fantastic with nice beaches and perfect views of the ocean. I would hesitate between Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. Australia = gold!

  • @kitteffa lol brisbane's the best,,, not overdeveloped but still very modern + amazing beaches north and south (gold coast = casinos and clubbing, sunshine coast = relaxinggg.)

    dude aus is the best.

  • @kitteffa move to Melbourne people here are more warm then any other place . I am not saying that other city people are rude they are also very nice but melbourne people are more friendly & dow to earth . I say to people if you want to see australia go to Sydney , if you want to enjoy go to gold cost and if ou want to live in australia come to melbourne

    Ahmed Syed

  • PLEASE HELP HELP

What is the name of the song in Brisbane city pictures?

    The song at 2:40

    Please let me know

Btw i live in brisbane, officially is the most livable city in australia

  • Into the Night - Santana

  • Hahaha no it isn't, Brisbane is the lowest ranked of all Australian cities in terms of liveability in the two most recent surveys. It ranked 34th in the 2009 mercer survey, and it ranked 16th in the 2009 economist survey. Every other Australian city (bar Darwin and Hobart) is ranked higher in both surveys.

  • Brisbane is the best city !!!!!

  • Melbourne is the best city ever!!! and my home since i was born!! If only it got as much international recognition as Sydney because it shits all over Sydney lol even though sydney harbour is really beautiful.

  • This video is simply brilliant, beautiful and harmonious image professionals,

I visit one day this paradisiacal place, congratulations ... I have a

video that you want to look is just paste the link youtube after the . com/CuritibaMr

  • Into the night one of my fav Nickelback songs!

  • I have only been to Sydney and Darwin, probably cause I've lived in both of them places lol. I really wanna go to Melbourne and Perth and Brisbane and Hobart!!!! But I absolutely love Sydney and Sydney Harbor!!!!!!!!!!!! Best place in the world!!

  • what cock LickMyLovePumpp you don't have one!

  • Omg.. ur funny.. :O :O

Make a video on that.. Sydney dickhead. Grow some balls u Inbred Scum!

  • SYDNEYS the biggest and the BEST!!!!!

  • No my cock is the biggest and the best (:

    And sydney is the shitest@!

  • agreed with the second part.

  • Which city out of all these do u guys reakon has the best looking skyline? u gotta admit Melb's is pretty impressive at 2:36 XD

  • MELBOURNE!

  • I like Melbourne's skyline the best.

It is much more vertical than Sydney, sort of singapore-esque. While Sydney is very dense and thick. Obviously because of height restrictions.

I like Melbourne's architecture better. Sydney's idea of a good looking building is just to put a sloped roof on it and add reflective glass.

Furthermore, Sydney is static. Melbourne has large amount of construction going on.

  • @darkskies1989 Ok...I Know your comment is over a year old now but yeah....Melbournes skyline looks impressive.....even more so now its expanded quite a bit since the pics were taken.

  • LOL at this whole Darwin vs Hobart thing happening to me there about the same size i dont know what one is bigger but i would prefer Darwin XD

  • Really? I would think Darwin would be stinking hot for half the year.

I would always chose Hobart over Darwin. Nice Harbour, quaint little town. If it gets too cold you can always put a jumper on.

  • you have a fair point there with the whether lol i didnt think of that

  • Hobart is bigger than Darwin

    Darwin is bigger than Hobart

    WHO GIVES A SHIT

    There both small TOWNS

There both only 1 tenth the size of Sydney

    so stop friggin fighting!!!

  • Uhh, dude. You forgot Darwin, Adelaide and Hobart...

  • Freshbott2:

Nobody cares about Darwin and Hobart.

  • Uhh, I can understand that about Hobart. But Darwin is friggin' awesome.

  • Darwin may be awesome but it only has 100,000 people in it.

  • Hobart is bigger than Darwin

  • I'm not talking about the size.

  • Hobart is nicer than Darwin

  • Depending. I haven't been to Hobart but I know heaps of people who have. They said the surrounding areas are nice but Hobart itself is just another town. I still like Darwin. Really, it just depends on what you prefer. But Darwin and Hobart are still both capital cities. And Darwin still has a lot of history.

  • Both are equally inimportant

  • unimportant**

  • Hahaha. And what makes you say that? Have you been to either of them? Or do you know anything about either of them. No city is unimportant. They all mean something to someone and they all stand a purpose. If you don't like either of them that doesn't make them a bad place or make them worth nothing.

  • I have not been to any of them. I do know allot about Australia.

Hobart and Darwin are not unimportant, but their importance is negligible compared to Melbourne/Sydney/Gold Coast/Perth

  • Age and size has nothing to do with importance.

  • lol yes it does...

4 million people can achieve allot more than 120 thousand people can.

  • What does it matter what they can achieve? And that's not necessarily true anyway. That has nothing to do with importance. Every city in Australia is just as important, regardless of how many people, how large, who can acheive what. It doesn't matter. Every place in Australia affects Australians in some way, be it one person or the entire population of Australia. Darwin and Hobart are equally important to Australia as anywhere and everywhere else, regardless of what they can achieve.

  • haha, no it;s not.

Sydney and Melbourne are more important to Australia because they hold more money, larger economy, all major banks are headquartered in either one of them. Home of the ASX.

If a particular city in Australia had to be blown up by a nuclear weapon. and we have the option to chose whether it me Melbourne or Darwin. Australia would choose Darwin.

Tell me how Darwin is more important to Australia than Sydney is.

  • Dude. You're missing my point. I understand that if we had to lose a city we would choose a smaller one because there would be less fatalities. But think about it. If you lived in Darwin, and went to another town and meanwhile, Darwin was nuked, you would be devastated. Same thing if you lived in Sydney, same thing if you lived on a station. Darwin might not be important to YOU But think about how many people in the whole world, that are exactly like you. Everyone would hurt if Darwin was nuked.

  • yeah well of course YOU would be devastated, because you know allot of people that live in Darwin.

but more people would be hurt of Sydney was lost.

Away from the argument of loss of life. If Darwin got nuked, so what? yeah it would be terrible. If Sydney got nuked, the country would crumble. Because it's our premier city.

  • How can you say that an apple is better than an orange?

You can't, all you can do is count the number of people that prefer apples to oranges and vice versa. That doesn't mean oranges are better than apples though.

  • Don't get too rough now. It's agreeable to some extent that some people agree that Melbourne is nice, but mainly relies on peoples' opinions. Many people that are anti-multiculturalism,would really dislike Melbourne. Our street life and vibrancy is a plus though.

  • And something called 'opinions'

  • You can measure the amount of people that have a particular opinion.

but you can't say that one city is better than another because of that. It is the principle that I don't agree with.

It is OPINIONS. These are derived from people's own experiences, personal living styles, how people were brought up, their culture.

You may say that most people believe Melbourne is nicer. but you cant say straight out that it is the 'better' city because of this.

  • yeah I agree with you, but you can' speak for all Australians.

Why? because it isn't something you can measure.

You can measure the economy of a city, you can measure the population, you can measure the amount of influence a city has.

but you can't measure people's opinions!! What you are saying has no fact basis.

The only thing that we can say for sure is that Sydney is Australia's premier city.

    Example:

I'll bet some people like Adelaide better than Melbourne.

  • Well you're in a one man army.

If I were you I would just wait 10 years until it is more well known, when it starts to become more of Australia's premier city. The fame will come with age.

Plus, well since Sydney isn't really growing much.. or growing at all, it won't take long.

  • How do you know so many people like Melbourne? Most Australians have not lived in Melbourne or Sydney. They wouldn't really know.

I mean I know I haven't lived there, but I am interested in this stuff.

I bet most Australians that live outside of Melb and Syd wouldn't know, or care.

  • and by the way? Why does it even matter?

Why have you dedicated you're youtube account to this topic?

  • What about historical value?

  • What about finance?

    What about size of economy?

    What about influence?

Are you saying Perth has a larger economy than Sydney?

  • perth ahs the largest ecnomy and the rest of the country gains of it

  • Perth does not have the country's largest economy, Sydney has the largest economy.

I know why you think that, it's because of the mining boom. You get the image of Perth being the largest economy but t isn't true. Perth has the most successful economy but not the largest by far.

Did you know that mining contributes the majority of our exports, but a minority part of Australia's GDP?

  • ok so you think melbourne is the best city. You know what? I agree, I prefer Melb to Syd.

but that is my opinion, and it is subjective. One of your arguments about why Mel is bettwe is that "it can be 42 degrees one day and then raining the next". Ok but someone else, they might think that is hell.

How is it unAustralian? There are good parts and bad parts. Say, Chatswood would be pretty wealthy, while areas like Penrith are pretty poor. So not as nice.

  • Many of the things that you say Melbourne is #1 in are subjective.

Premier city means #1 city. You are going t have to rephrase what you mean by '#1'.

  • They both have a better quality of life than Paris..

Of course Syd isn't #1 in everything, but it is still the most important city in Australia. Gosh.

Things like what the weather is like don't come into the equation.

  • "Sydney just doesn't have the things it needs to have to be the Leader of a Nation.

Even thought it is, that sucks for all of us."

So you agree that Syd is the leader of the nation you just don't like to admit it? Am I correct? haha.

It doesn't suck for all of us. We are all Australians, we are all one country, why does it matter? Look at the bigger picture.

If someone from another country was watching how you get so emotional about you Melbourne has to be better than Syd, they would laugh.

  • Sydney is only more polluted because there are more people in which pollute.

YES, you know what? Sydney has a SHIT economy right now, but it is still the LARGEST economy in Australia. Just like the USA has a shit economy, but is the largest in the world.

All of what you are saying relates to quality of life. btw Sydney isn't built on a hill it's built on a harbour.

How can you say Sydney isn't friendly? There is absolutely no way to measure that.

  • Quality of life is an added bon
