I've seen you perform other works, your very talented. My piano teacher wants me to take a break from the complex music I tackle and focus on something easier, something I can have fun with and make perfection. She said I can choose between this and Schumans "Important Scene" from "Scenes from my Childhood". Any suggestions?

Thanks for your kind comment. It is difficult for me to suggest what is best for you. This piece is certainly fun, but musically quite difficult - nevertheless, you may be able to get some ideas of what to do (and not to do!) from mine and other recordings. When I was about 12 I uses to spend all my time trying to play bits of piano concertos and other things that were far too hard for me - at the expense of good phrasing and quality performance of smaller works.....

...... As a result I never got good marks in my exams and had to 'go back to the drawing board' lat er in life. So I can see where your teacher might be coming from! On the positive side, working at complex works is excellent training in sightreading.

When I did the associated board exam grade 5 a few years back, it was an exam pieceas well, but I did not do it but chose an easier piece. Well played.

I think you may have been wise. This is a very subtle piece to bring off at Grade 5 level, I think.
