I found this and about 9 other 12" Vocalions all stored neatly in an original Vocalion Record album at an antique Co-op about 12 years ago. The records looked like they had never been played or played only few times. 12" Vocalions like this in exceptional condition are a very uncommon find.
@SugarTomAppleRoger I find no source that says Caruso died on stage, or that he was even scheduled to sing at the time of his death. According to Wikipedia, he was very ill with cancer and died in his hotel room while on a trip.
@operamark1 You are probably correct. I was reading that she was singing in his final appearance on stage. I did see the film the great Caruso, and he died on stage in that. It was probably put in for theatrical effect, and what you mentioned was the truth. I found this clip in which Caruso and Scotney took part. Also mentoned was Alda, Polselle and a new tenor called Gigli. That is like a who's who.
@operamark1 Nonetheless, this is a valuable post. If you have more Evelyn Scotney, I would love to hear it. She was one of the favorites of the eminent British critic Herman Klein -- and one of mine.
Thank you for your comment. According to a brief biography, she was engaged in 1910 to a bass from the Boston Opera Company, named White. He was the son of a Providence R.I. Physician. There is also a website for the Scotney familiy Geneology, where you can ask questions. Hope this might help. Good Luck!!
Brilliant soprano - not well enough known in her country of birth, Australia. I am supposed to be distantly related to her, but I don't know how. I would like to contact any of Evelyn Scotney's family.
oh i like this one a lot! beautiful. i feel transported.

She was the soprano on stage with the great Caruso when he collapsed and died. You can see her obvious quality. This record is a true gem.
