  • i did it once, might do it again

  • I restored it. Especially with iOS4 coming out. I mainly used my jailbroken iPod touch for backgrounder and categories but now I won't be needing that anymore, and anyway, backgrounder drains a lot of battery...

  • I liked it but it was killing my battery.

  • @jokeefe83 hahah dude no offense your idiot, its not the jailbreak thats draining your battery, its all the themes that you have download and all the cydia apps, the original jailbreak doesnt do anything at all, try deletin the cydia apps and thems and your battery shouldnt waste that fast anymore

  • Comment removed

  • Search black rain it easy Jailbreak ;P

  • @lxxFlamesxxl black rain sucks spirit rules

  • @TonihGangstar jailbreakme . com is better!

  • it seems stupid to give up all the great functionality jailbreaking brings, just to keep up to date with the latest 'bug fixes' that get released once every 3 months (most of which you don't even notice!)

  • pm me your email if u need an invite ill invite u really fast just pm me For lockerz u make points and get free stuff really easy u can get imacs, itouchs 64g,psp gos, game systems, and video games all free just need to get points

  • i jailbroke mine. i hated it. it felt so.. false. id rather have a clean ipod and pay for them.

  • @YOUDUDE56 I agree with you, I jailbroke mine, liked it, but it crashed every day

  • if you ask me, they should make jailbreaking harder again, as now with GeoHots blackra1n, there are WAY to many n00bs going rounds needing people who have been in the game for ages (myself included, i started in 1.1.3), bottlefeeding them ALL the time, seriously guys, if you think about jailbreaking, learn about it first by watching vids, going on forums, dont tell me there arnt any as theres hundreds, and come into the game fresh and READY, not just doing it to see and needing to be bottle fed

  • @bubbleman0356 why dont u fucking lay off man im a veteran too starting with 1.1.3 but what if some people out there didnt get their iphones right when they came out should they be denied the fucking jailbreaking option? sometimes i get tired of them too but u were once a fucking scrub like the new noobs u bitch about!

  • Hey guys check out my channel if you want to know how to jailbreak!

  • ur a boss dude......im geting an iphone 3gs on 2/14 and im thinking bout jailbreaking it but im kinda scared tht it will brick and my warranrty being viod

  • it wont void it. you can always restore then back up without jailbreak then if its still broke just give it to apple, bestbuy etc.

you will get it fix.cause you restored

  • thank u dude your the only onee the says jailbreaking is good cos i jailbroke

  • I think soldier makes his videos on Sony Vegas. xD

  • @iTalkReviews No, he uses Screenflow.

  • hey i jail broke my ipod when it was at 2.2.1 and after 3.0 i decided that i didnt want to have it jail broken anymore because i didnt want to keep restoring it and all that. And since i had to many apps for the ipod 2nd gen to hold i put it in a folder (I used red snow to jail brake it) and when i restored the ipod all thoughs apps went away but i can still put new ones on and i still have the old ones in my itunes please help. Thanks

  • @JRicherMusic i suppose you've already solved that but... well, never mind, i had that problem too with my iphone. You gotta jailbreak it again (with the old backup) and manually remove the apps then create a new backup and restore it then load that one. It should be ok :)

  • What is Jailbreaking??

  • Thank you, you made me jailbreak :DD

  • What Jailbreak did you use?

  • i used blackra1n, its the best, just press a button :P

  • Tried Blackra1n, but didn't work for me :(

  • if you have 3.1.3 it won't work

  • I have 2.2.1

  • what i think apple should do is work with jay freeman: the cydia guy, and work on the customizing stuff for iphone and ipod touch users and put that in the next update. the free apps, well that can stay only if you jailbreak but it is illegal to get free apps. but the customizing is really cool and makes your itouch or iphone unique.

  • prety much same here. I love the stuff jailbreaking gives, but i whant to keep it clean for awile. and i am really cba playing around now with jailbreaking... ill stick with clean 3gs for awile

  • I did jailbreak my ipod touch, but when I get an iPhone, I won't jailbreak it.

  • jailbreaking sounds kinda sketchy. can i do it to my itouch 2nd generation? what are the benefits to jailbreaking?

  • @0ldSkool27

free games free homebrew free appstore apps customisation custom themes you can make your own. it goes on and on, nothing can go wrong coz nowadays a program will tell you wat to do wat button to hold and how long for.

  • but what about my music on my itunes? will jailbreaking delete my music?

  • @0ldSkool27

well it would delete everything on your ipod but only in the same way an update or a restore would, your itunes won't lose music though so you would just jailbreak it theen resync with itunes and it'll be fine.

  • thanks for the help! still not sure if i'll do it though. i've been reading other people's comments and some of them say they're iphone or itouch broke and also that they got worms from jailbreaking. my wife checks her emails with our itouch so i don't want any personal information leaking. i'll think about it. once again though, thanks a lot. you've been very helpful =)

  • @0ldSkool27

    no prob

  • @0ldSkool27

The only way to get "worms" on your iPod is to download pirated or "sketchy" software, but if you stay on the main community cources when downloading apps, you'll be fine.

  • nope its jst like a software update all content stays...untill you want to unistall it

  • i had a jailbroken ipod touch and it was 2nd gen. Then i updated to 3.0 and the jailbreak left but you can still do it. Anyways, when i jailbroke it, nothing bad happened to my itouch and all my friends who have itouchs have, almost all of them, jailbroken their touches. They still have there stuff and nothing gets leaked or shared with world. For the most part, it pretty safe.

  • But if this doesnt help or you still seem unsure about jailbreaking, then listen to this. My friends dad, works for apple and my friend jailbroke his ipod touch and he has a 1st gen. But anyways, an apple enploy's don jailbroke his itouch. So even apple members r jailbreakin.

  • thanks for the tip!

  • @0ldSkool27

There is no risk for jailbreaking at all, at the worst, a DFU Restore will fix it, and nothing serious can go wrong, whether you hold the buttons down for the wrong amount of time or not. The iPod can not be "bricked" unless you "run highly advanced commands specifically to do so on a Linux machine" according to most people you would ask, but it truly cannot be "bricked" because the iPod software is sectioned in the device differently than the place where it can be "bricked"

  • @0ldSkool27 so really, only a hardware issue (such as chucking a brick at your device) can "brick" it, there is no software brick. Thanks. Message me if you have anymore questions. :)

  • Jailbreak ftw! I am not paying to get a goddamn ringtone i could get free on any other phone thats just wrong, i dont know what the hell apple were thinking... When you are limited to do almost nothing for free of course someone is going to make some kind og program/applications so you can do more for free

  • ok, forget that, i arrived at theend of the vid... lol

  • Hey Soldier! so by what i get you say JailBrake is good, an adventure, so... could you tell me how to jailbrake my ipodtouch 3g? hope you say yes, please, please, please, please!

  • Blackrain1n wiped my phone out. I had to get another. Can I fix my old phone? It won't turn on or anything.

  • can you give it to me lol!

  • restore it

  • I don't agree. At all! It's not only the costumization, it adds a lot of funcionalities that are missing!

    Like backgrounding!!

    SMS characters counter!

Video recording for those with early versions!!!

Even MMS wasn't available a year ago!

In fact, i dear saying that the iphone is a miserable peace of S"#$%

Pardon my french! I Have a 3GS 5 months now.. Not quite thrilled...

  • Yea jailbreaking was cool, But I got tired of dealing with it so now my iphone 3g is not jailbroken

  • how do i jailbreak my ipod touch 8g

  • google Blackra1n not blackrain 'BlackRa1n'

  • So if i jailbreak my iphone 3gs and decide i just want to go back to the standard 3gs i can just restore it and its as simple as that ?

  • yes.

  • ok thanks

  • yup as simple as that :)

  • @MarkFTD83 Hi, I strongly recommend to go and restore it in iTunes and THEN go to Settings-> General-> Delete all data and configurations or something like that. Let it delete it and then if you want to be sure that the jailbreak is gone, you have to restore for the 2nd time. I've tried to ONLY restore it and I wanted to copy some cracked paid apps on my iPhone 3GS and I realized that they sync.... so restoring it will only remove a part of the jailbreaking process. Hope it helped!

  • @MarkFTD83 OR you can try deleting all data and configurations first and THEN restore it.

  • can someone tell if there is stuff you cant do after you jailbreak it. Like stuff you can do on a UNjailbroken touch that you cant do to a jailbroken one

  • Hope you take this as constructive criticism you've completely missed the key applications which make jailbreaking worth while. Clearly haven't done your research on what jailbroken applications are available NOW and how they make the iPhone better. This video belongs in a discussion 1 yr. ago Customize, which you mention hasn't worked on the iPhone since OS 2.0 It's applications like Overboard, Backgrounder, SBSettings, BTKeyboard, Lockinfo, biteSMS (just to name a few) that make it a must.

  • it sucks, i cant jailbreak mine or it will delete all of my songs

  • do you mean when it goes in to dfu

if so then hold the home button and the off button for five seconds

  • no, i have to restore it before it will let me

  • I did this to my iphone 3g because it lacked features I really wanted example: bettery percentage and video camera. But now that I have a iPhone 3GS it has all the features I want and being me I don't want any lag or system crashes so I'll stick with apple's firmwares!

  • lol you make it sound like jailbreaking the phone is like having an anal sex experience: "try it once, have fun with it"

    its just a damn phone.

  • To the following users: WazUppU & 11danzizzle11.

Ok, so changing the default passwords should stop the worms from affecting your device. But what about all the people who haven't or don't know how to. And remember a worm is pretty similar to a Trojan in the way it works. Some users might have it before they change the password and by then it can be too late, because a lot of your data has been exploited to hackers.

    SUPERTECNOBOFF

  • and..... Most worms and trojans work in the background, some hardly use any CPU power so you'll hardly be able to tell. And second of all, who;s to say hackers won't make more viruses or worms which can infect jail broken users.

  • Please subscribe me guys!

  • FREE BLACKRAIN Jailbreak/Unlock EASY WAY at my channel!! I have the video along with the blackrain website provided with all the step by step instructions on how to jailbreak and unlock all version iphone 3g,3gs, and ipod generations! Visit my channel now if you are in need of help!" Subscribe to the page as well!!

  • Those "worms" can be avoided because you can change your Device's password.

    SUB TO ME NOT HIM!!

  • ACTUALLY, it is possible to jailbreak your iPhone/iPod Touch and NOT be affected by the worms. To do that all you need to do is to simply change the default passwords (or some type of password, I forget at the moment) from Alpine and you will be freed from the threat of worms. So, if you do jailbreak you phone, change that password. BAM! problem fixed. it is very safe from that point on.

  • dude, go on ebay and buy one for like 50$

  • use blackra1n its good

  • Your completely right !

  • that was a pretty good ending. made me giggle n everything...

  • I can't believe you don't jailbreak your phone now! There r some really useful applications (irealquicksms, backgrounder, multiflow, sbsettings, etc) that make jailbreaking for me a must have. Jailbreaking can give u the useful functions of the pre and android (easy multitasking of any app and messaging/settings without leaving the app your in). A jailbroken iphone is the best phone hands down. A "naked iphone" is nothing special anymore. Earlier jailbreaking was for fun, now it is a must have!

  • one thing that surprised me after jailbreaking my ipod touch is that the cydia app store has mostly apps you still need to pay for

  • well i tried it and i cant turn on my phone anymore

  • you mean it wont TURN ON or you cant use the phone feature like att or tmobile? or its broken

  • Warnings cont.

Some things are and DON'T DO IT! such a "CRACKED APPS" it does take up quite alot of space in your iPhone/Touch this is fun and it is for the most part safe. (85% - 95%) THIS GOES FOR EVERYTHING "BE A LITTLE CAUTIOUS AT ANYTHING YOU DO" RESEARCH EVERYTHING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN BEFORE YOU TRY!

    -Eman

  • Some Warnings Comment Readers: It may be safe now but be warned of some things you can download from Cydia (JB app store) may be harmful... I do not suggest selecting the developer option. Go with normal user and it weeds out some possibly harmful apps.. I actually lost my first iTouch to a failed app i tried to open.. it killed it! Although that was way back in the 2.0 jailbreak version... but i still suggest the normal user option... one last important note THIS DOES VOID YOUR WARRANTY!

    -Eman

  • Apple is against JBing because it allows "cracked" apps to be downloaded for free (stolen). I think the best part of JBing is really just the customization. I like having new icons, screens, SMS bubbles, sounds, etc. The customization is infinite! I do download "cracked" apps but I use them to test run an app before deciding to buy (if there's no lite version). Just my 2 cents....

  • FUCK iTUNES!!!

I download my shit for FREE!!!!

  • @PaperTrail159

Also I get it BEFORE iTunes even has it online!!

  • fuck yea!!!

  • I havent Jailbroken my iPhone 3G and im not really to bothered about it, i just couldnt be bothered with the hassle plus everything i need/want to do i can either do legally or use a different device

  • Your BG is well cool

  • If you jailbreak your iPhone can you still download songs off of iTunes?

  • yep

  • so its kinda like installing custom firmware on psp

  • i thought you could ssh without jailbreaking!!!??

  • good!

  • if you do diside to jailbreack your iphone you should do a how to video

  • soldier is a spokesperson for apple, maybe that's why he doesn't jail break. there is no other legitimate reason not to jailbreak your iphone. the apps with cydia are freakin awesome. and you can always unjail break it if you need to take your phone into Apple, don't let people scare you when they say it ruins your warranty. You can restore it to normal and apple will never know you jailbroke it.

  • Not jailbreaking is for fools, sucker

  • but it will void your warrenty

  • LOL 3:03 AHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Dude my iPhone is jailbroken using blackra1n it's so easy my 14y daughter can do it and the benfit is all the free apps.

  • is it logged on your phone if u take it to apple

  • Funny the way he sticks his two fingers up at the camera at the end, when he says peace!

  • don't worry, you're not the only one :)

  • you look 10 pounds lighter in the old video

  • Jailbraking your iphone can slow it down and can put you in an infinate boot cycle (where is boots i.e. apple logo then the twirling loading spin thing then back to the loading spinner)

    But you can always Restore

It is cumbersome some people make apps in Cydia that mess it up though and you have to restore and you lose apps because itunes doesnt transfer installous apps if you have them- that is illegal so be warned.

  • you can transfer your apps onto itunes...you just have to know how you can transfer it ;-)

  • Dinozambas is better than ty.

Anyway the only reason I jailbreak is because of installous.

  • I agree with everything you said. I jailbroke mine last year and stuck with it for about 2 months but I kinda got tired of it so I just retored

  • you look 30pound lighter in the old video still cute though

  • Thanks for the info Mark!

  • Thanks for covering this topic. I'm in the same boat as you. I jailbroke my iphone 2G and had fun with it, but it got old and now I'm back to a stock iPhone.

  • I will try everything once with you, SKB!

  • does anyone else thing soldierknows best look liek turk from scrubs? or is just me?

  • he does!

  • He is gorgeous, especially in specs.

  • ohh i remember the 1st jailbreak good times :) they had tap tap revolution and you could actually have your own songs on the game. and all the themes and emulators! i still have my 3g jailbroken. and my 2g.

  • my names ty >:)

  • I will try murder only one time

  • when u restore the iphone back, can you install the updates for it that u get from apple on itunes or do you still need to update it with jailbreaking updates?

  • But if you break it and you bring it back to Apple they'll say no to a repair!

  • its called restore.

  • If you can restore it its not broken is it. THINK!

  • and, if you cannot restore (i.e. wont turn on), then there will be no way for Apple to know its jailbroken...THINK!!!!

  • Therefore Apple will find whats broken (ie: Battery) and replace it, Apple wan't to make sure that your information is not lost so they'll do whatever it takes to keep the same device, and when they run tests they'll discover that it's jailbroken and refuse to offer the repair for free! THINK!

  • i jailbreak mainly for emulators and free apps (free sat nav lol woo) also for customization.

  • naked :P

  • I like your videos man always, nice, informative and entertaining. Awesome work.

  • @fizzo20 no it doesn't I'm on my 3GS now jailbroken of course :) if u have a jailbroken device all u hav2 do is restore it before u bring back to apple if your device breaks so stop giving out half ass information :)

  • Dude wait until untethered the do it, right now all the 3rd gen jailbreaks are tethered

  • I'm still waitin for the untethered jailbreak for the touch 3G, then its back to customised!

  • I think you should put a disclaimer just to protect yourself...

You know some idiot is going to screw up his phone and blame you because you said it was safe.

  • couldn't say it any better myself. it's pretty much an experience to play with and know what to do.

  • Thanks Tim! =)

  • Comment removed

  • no, it does not. google it.

  • Comment removed

  • mine used to be jailbroken when I had my first gen also. The reason I didn't jailbreak my 3GS is cause I didn't wanna void the warranty.

EVERYONE BEWARE THAT JAILBREAKING VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY.

  • to be honest i only jailbroke mine to install the battery percentage on the 3G then i removed cydia :P

  • lmao, Battery percentage is avl in 3.1.2 without jailbreaking...

  • not on the 3g, only 3gs

  • If your phone is locked to a network and you unlock it while jailbreaking it, then it stays unlocked and voids warrenty doesn't it?

  • although jailbraking is not safe now. There are people out there making worms for them. The 1st was a harmless yet effective worm when only jailbroken iphones will be rick rolld. and the 2nd is a dangerous hack that takes back details from users. So its not safe atm to jailbreak. :(

  • It's perfectly safe, but it needs to be treated as a computer. The people that got their iPhones hacked was due to them keeping the default root username and password. As long as you change it, you're fine.
