  • @TheMos2818 What is this officer saying beginning from 1:29? I am trying to get a translation of this, but i gave up on this part ... :/

  • here are your choices non-believers! kill yourself or buy an Audi 5000s turbo and or a Lexus is 350 and go for a long cruise... I have owned said vehicles and never had a law suit or intend to make one, I'm simply putting it out there that these reports are real!!! I have the piss stains on my jeans to prove it!!!!

  • @TheMos2818 his family died you think he would have wanted that? get a life

  • @TheMos2818

Neutral is your best option by far

  • @TheMos2818

Yea shut off the engine so you don't have any power steering....Real smart!

  • Sight it's like history's repeating itself, this time it wasn't princess Diana and a benz, but a family of 4 with a lexus... How tragic :(

  • according to NASA

"The report determined that two mechanical defects in the accelerator pedal "

proof Toyota builds POS cars. And carquestions is an idiot.

  • Google "mass hysteria", "windshield pitting", "mystery gas" - I feel this is a similar phenomenon. "Sudden acceleration" is so hyped in the news that people are believing it's happening to them, and then it does.

As for buying American - Australia makes better cars than the U.S., ironic since both Aussie manufacturers are owned by U.S. companies (Google "Pontiac GTO").

  • How stupid does american media and net spammers like yourself look now that its proved beyond a doubt that there never were any particular faults with Toyota cars. All those idiots complaining of accelerating cars were all just trying to cash in or blaming the car for accidents. The whole thing was just a hatecampaign to claw back some desperately needed market shares for american brands.

  • @Janusha they DIED u jerk u must have a sad life if you go on and write negative comments ... and he wasn't an idiot your the idiot

  • Cars inevitably crash or break down. Thats what cars do. They arent forever. Toyotas however run 2-3 times longer than any american trash before they do break down. Now that this smear campain has become so popular in USA. This desperate quest to discriminate Toyota as a quality brand in a desperate attempt to claw back some desperately needed market shares for american brands.. Now when you crash your Toyota you can simply say ooh.. It woulnt let me stop. It tried to kill me. All bullshit.

  • @TheMos2818 put neutral and break is better than shutting off engine coz that would make the wheel lock

  • What you drive DRIVES AMERICA..BUY AMERICAN!

  • bailout+Gm= harsh reality for Toyota Owners.... you can't imagine how many flaws are in the gm machines my goodness but no one will ever air or ever hear from them we all know why......................................

  • Wow, at least just throw it in neutral so it wont keep accelerating...

  • Its pretty obvious...Toyota broke off their partnership and closed the factory. US Gov't took over GM and own 50%, or should I say, the federal reserve aka Private Banks own GM via tax payer money. GM uses corporate sabotage to hurt Toyota sales and take their customers through fear mongoring. Total bullshit. You cannot deny the truth. The US gov't are a bunch of thugs.

  • The above video has now been proven to be completely unnecessary and an example of the media hyping fear instead of reporting facts. NHTSA has suspended its joint investigations with Toyota on claims of sudden acceleration. All investigations they have conducted (more than 8) have all resulted in findings of "driver error". No one has ever proven in court that a car accelerated out of control by itself causing an accident.

  • The smartest way to move forward without killing your self its by not buying a toyota . I guess the japs forgot that the best way to make business its by not killing their customers with their products . They should rebadge the toyota camry , tundra , sienna and prius in to toyota kamikaze car , kamikaze truck , kamikaze family killer & eco kamikaze ...

  • Hey at least Honda still hasn't shafted me yet!!!

  • @jbeyers84

Hey , I am happy for you . At least Honda its not killing its customers like toyota does , YET !!!

  • @LetsHateEverything yes and america sucks ass as well LOL LETS HATE EVERY THING

  • There were similar cases against Jeep Grand Cherokees and Audi 5000's in the past. There isn't a consumer car made that has enough torque to overpower it's brakes. Many tests have been done with many models. Then, he also had the "Turn off the key" or "Put it in neutral" option. The Lexus does have mechanical linkage to the tranny, you cant blame it on software with the Lexus. I feel sorry for this man and his family, but I have to believe he was just another Darwin Award winner.

  • I'd bet a paycheck that this poor guy had his foot on the gas and thought it was on the brake... It sounds too stupid to be true but it happens all the time. It usually just ends up in someone running into their garage door though.

  • he had time to have a look at the accelerator, dunno if he did but a 911 call is somehow kinda useless, a waste of precious time, especially when you're not on freeway but coming into an intersection.

    sad for young girls :(

  • Fake, the pedal was fully operated. Just a conspiracy against Toyota. I live in Italy and there are a lots of Toyota's cars here. Nothin happen in all the entire Europe and the Toyota owners are more than happy.

  • they may not have shifted to neutral, it could also be that it wouldnt have mattered. The latest toyota victim said he did try putting it in neutral and tured the car off,,and still took a police car getting in front of him in his car to finally get the death trap stopped. Im glad I dont own a toyota

  • @cherokeedoll1 you had the story completely wrong, the dude did not put it in neutral and he did not turn of his car until the police officer which was following him for a while told him to hold his brake and ebrake down and turn it off... the dude was going bankrupt, came to toyota two weeks prior for a recall but got turned down, and is wearing a corvette club jacket while doing the news interview.

  • all I know is that the police officer said he could smell the brakes burning but the car was still wouldnt stop and I know people have been killed in these cars because of the same problem and Im glad I dont own one of them

  • @cherokeedoll1

If you're talking about James Sikes, he actually said that he DID NOT try neutral, because he was worried about FLIPPING (???????) the car.

  • Everything abt america is fake. They make fake movies, fake cars and

fake news. A stinking shit hole inhabited by hairy black n white monkeys

who rap and 69 each other in the lowest culture known to civilisation.

  • @FuckFordGM well....i'm not hairy lol and of course movies are fake....what have you been watching for entertainment. I don't know where you are from....(probably america and you are just ticked off) don't know but you don't need to be hateful. That is what is wrong with this world. Instead of understanding, people greet eachother with hate and discrimination.

  • try to find a flat spot and put it into the sand it slows you down

  • Maybe a Cruise Control Circuit problem? Even founder of Apple has had a problem with his when he turned on his cruise control. His car went to full throttle. This makes sense because all of the problems have occurred over 35 miles per hour. On the Toyotas the Cruise control CANNOT be set under 35 miles per hour. That opens the circuit up for a cruise control glitch which may also involve the input from the brake pedal. I want to know how many of the reported Veh's involved were without Cruise?

  • Interesting theory about cruise control, but there have been cases where cars just "took off" in driveways.

Besides, touching the brakes switches it off.

To date, the only PROVEN cause still involves pedal entrapment.

  • There were reports of Toyota's not even slowing down by downshifting or shutting off the car in these situations. So no matter what, you're screwed. It's a fuckin computer glitch in the system, u wont be able to brake or nothing, thats why theres a fuckin recall...

  • @illababy thats dumb as shit COMPUTER Glich funny how there are never any parts in the computer its just a ghost in there hell blam the devil funny how this turned out to be stacked floor mats,,, transmission are not sync with the computer its done with your hand!!!!! he just wanted to kill his Family Sad thing

  • and this guy was a highway patrol but doesnt know how to shut off or throw a car in neutral

  • its amazing that some people think they know what happend in that car,,u dont know that he didnt try putting the car in neutral...u dont actually know what took place in that car that day. That car should have never been loaned out in the first place, cause someone had just brought it back to the dealership three days before telling them that the accelrator was sticking....it was there fault.. not the person driving the car !!

  • well if he did putit in neutral it would of started slowing down.. shut off car it would of started slowing down,,,

fuck jump out of the car would of been better than staying in it from the looks of it

  • that is all easy for you to say,,because you were not the one in that situation,, hopefully it will never happen to you,,but still you should becarful what you say!

  • well guarentee you i wouldnt call 911 what the fuck are they gonna do....

Oh yeah sir we will send a officer out to assist you i mean come on now... hes got time to think and call 911 but cant remember to shut off or put car in neutral...

  • the driver is not the one who called 911, it was the brother in law which was a passenger in the car, The whole point of the matter is,,that car should have never been on the road to start with.. it doesnt matter if it was a hwy patrol officer..the point is it could have been anyone driving that car,,,regaurdless that car had problems and the dealership knew it and should have never loaned that car out..the deaths are their fault

  • no one thought of shifting to NEUTRAL ?

  • may they rest in peace!!

  • TOYOTA, MOVING FORWARD! whether you like it or not..

if you want to kill someone, buy a toyota..

  • or a Ford, or a Chevy, or....

  • Listen up - If you don't recognize the truth then read it yourself ! On page 27 of the SDSD investigation report # 09056454 -

Quote: "Causes - A lexus all weather rubber floor mat (part #48050..)"

Surely you have enough of an education and skill ability to find the report on the internet - if not, email me and i"ll send you the full report - one page at a time. People who won't believe a report made by his fellow officers are just garden variety illiterates.

  • 8908 mission gorge rd.

    santee, ca

  • SUA is caused by people not cars and they all share the same profile: The driver is always 50 +, mostly women, the car is automatic, it happened moments after they shifted or had a minor bump, the car was looked at but could not repeat the fault, no fault in the brakes or accelerator where found, the car is low mileage the driver has great credibility - no tickets in 40 years, no accidents etc - If they fit the profile then he/she is likely a victim of SUA

  • There's a wear flaw in the module. It's been replicated. We're all in danger because of all the Toyotas on the road, and they're all aging into that failure window. It needs to be replaced, but it won't be cheap for Toyota. I'm sure they're calculating the death lawsuits vs the recall costs.

  • What module and who replicated? This is utter nonsense - please list your source for your information

  • You are inciting nonsensical hysteria. I have never seen a toyota acclereating out of control and I don't see any today. I have seen more vehicle fires Including one with people inside the burning cars, a car flip over as i passed them in the opposite direction, a car veer and hit the center divider yet no toyotas accelerating. All you have to do is put the car in neutral. And the issue is not with aging cars which proves you know nothing.

  • Thank god for manual cars, automatics are evil...

  • Yes I dont like Automatics..at all.. I remember that with Automatics when my fuel would get low I could be driving and my whole engine lock up and skid as i was in Automatic ...Never would happen with stick cus I could just put it in neutral...

  • Exactly !, if the car has a stuck accelerator, push the clutch, and brake....

  • Of over 800 million cars in the world no one has ever conducted an accident investigation that concluded the car accelerated by itself while simultaneously losing its brakes - there have only been false complaints.

  • Rumor has it, there are some hacker kids that are just using blue tooth laptops and hackin into newer cars that have the fly by wire set ups. And that they are causin all kinds of wrecks on the freeways. hope its bullshit. They think that shit is funny, being able to remotely control someones car, lock em in, and hit full throttle. No shit...look it up.

  • You're closer to science-fiction than actual science. Cars use 'drive by wire' systems that are wired. And not controlled by a frequency. Airplanes use 'fly by wire' set ups. But they are also wired. The 'fly' comes from "flight".

  • you may be onto a good train of thought the more electrical and computerized it is the easier that it is to corrupt the system. and cause all kinds of trouble. Take for example a OBD 2 system and a high end hand held dignostic scanner you can orperate all servo controled devices as a test function. but toyota must have missed the testing boat to prevent this from happing so the blame is still their's in the event that this is correct. dont forget to stand beside toyotas it is the only safe place

  • For everyone out there -- the situation can be resolved by putting the car in neutral and hitting the brakes if the accelerator is stuck. The car should coast to a stop.

And as a last resort, you could always turn off the ignition.

I'm guessing this guy panicked and couldn't think. RIP to all 4 in that car.

  • I don't know why you're mad at me, you piece of shit. Also, you're a hypocrite for wishing a car accident on someone else while criticizing & claiming others for making light of a car accident.

Secondly, I'm only giving information on what people can do if they're in this situation. Why would you be mad at me for that, you hypocritical evil scumbag?

I listened to the whole call. He should have put it in neutral and braked. And the the operator should have instructed him to do so.

  • Oh you're a sly motherfucker Bob - the ol' "hackas taking control of yo' ride" rumor. Good one. A genius nob gobbler such as yourself should feel proud. Too bad you're not just a rumor dipshit.

  • toyotas are gonna have no resale value and nobody is going to want to buy them. There are 4 different sets of recalls for different issues on many toyota models. Stick with honda or an american car

  • Doesn't Honda has it's own bucket of defects to deal with?

  • um no not really.. i cant even name a problem honda has had that is even 1/10th as bad as toyota lmao

  • Funny I own 5 Hondas including CRXs, Honda Quads, Lawn Mowers, just about every motor made and no they dont have problems at all...Then again all of the Cars I own are built and made in Japan not here in the States just saying..

  • Please check out these videos, and then tell us again how American cars don't have this problem:

    /watch?v=3eGTqKn_ihc

    and this one

    /watch?v=XiFFlYMM2YY

  • vibe is made by guess who oh com on somebody who is the crew that desinged this half breed did i hear a toy toyota yes i did by the way what up with the rust bucket oh I mean the tundra lets see the opened the Prinction IN plant in 1998 that makes the oldest tundra 12. and the spare tires are falling off due to rusting out frame man my 65 chevy you would only need a magic eracer tm. to remove the rust from its frame and if has NOT been restored, undercoated or had the frame coated screw toyota

  • @beernutsandu

Vibe isn't the only car in that video.

By the way, it took me more than two minutes to decipher what you're saying. Please use punctuation, next time.

  • not everyone has an ample amount of time to troll youtube and make perfectly grammatically correct comments....if it took you 2 mins that's kinda sad...please don't exaggerate, else no one will believe the rest of what you have to say. If you wish to knock my typing, at least, knock it honestly. Guess that education isn't all what it's cracked up to be.

btw the comma in the last sentence should be after "please" not "puncuation", and your past/present tense is whack.

  • Sorry, but some of us aren't really good at reading run-on sentences.

some people have a hard time reading things like this because the brain does not see it correctly it is much easier to read things that at least have some punctuation in them even though it might not be completely correct the problem is that nothing is separating these words and some people have to reread these in order to make sense out of them at least mine is easier to read

    Yeah

  • I can agree with that. I guess my brain just works differently...it puts the punctuation in for me I suppose. That block of text made perfect sense to me lol

  • the best way to stop a runaway toyota its by not buying one in the first place . wow ! , now for you to drive a toyota you need surviving training . i guess that the word toyota and the word quality can't be used on the same sentence anymore . and thats the same for the lexus and scion too...

  • @punmaxxrcfx

i've owned 3 toyotas and i love them. I would buy them over any american sedan. just because there have been a few problems, doesn't mean a company is shit.

  • @xeo929

good for you . don't forget to make a will before you drive your toyota again . toyota , moving forward , uh oh , it keeps moving forward faster , like moving forward at 96 mph and i can't stop , oh no ! i keep moving forward towards a intersection at 107 mph and i can't shut the engine off , oh my god , AAAAAHHHH !!! and like a movie THE END and then the credits . the moral of the story its buy american or pay it with your life .

  • @punmaxxrcfx

haha, don't worry. When i have the best resale value with foreign cars, you can be stuck with your american car that doesn't even get close to what you want for it. Any car is at risk to do something that could potentially harm.

  • @xeo929

i think that those sunglasses are so dark that they are not letting you see the truth , in all the years of my life i never seen a recall as big as this one with toyota , its so big that its not only in the US but its a global recall . not only its huge but its probably one of the worst kind of malfunction that you can have on a car/truck " sudden acceleration " . this its worst that any recall from any American or German car company .

  • @xeo929

haha , you talking about resale value , this problem with the foreign car company that you love so much ( toyota ) its going to turn the resale value of you car like the one of a empty soda can ( at least soda cans don't kill people like toyota's do ) . the prosperity and the strength of the country where i born " USA " its more important than the resale value of my car buddy ! . thats what it means to be a real American !!!

  • @punmaxxrcfx

hahaha, you are so fucking stupid. You say a real american buys an american car? You need to look at your priorities buddy. I simply have always liked toyota. They will continue to make great cars. Now go continue playing with your little toy cars and keep believing the bullshit you do. There are other way of supporting your country, rather than buying a simple thing like a car. I guarantee most of the parts for your cute little toys weren't even manufactured in america

  • @xeo92

haha , your ignorance's its very daring . the back bone of any develop country its manufacture , but you are to fucking stupid to understand that . when you support you own economy rather than other countries economy that brings more jobs and creates a stronger currency and better way of life , thats were my priorities are . but i guess i am a fucking stupid to try to explain that to a retarded moron that doesn't understand .

  • @punmaxxrcfx-exactly!

  • @xeo929

toyota world sales drop dramatically , due to the decision of making great killing machines . those little cars that i drive that you saw on my channel are design and manufacture by american companies and more safer than drive a real race car or a toyota .

  • tundra is how many years old spare tires falling off due to rusting out frames. The awnser is 12 years maby 13 but my fav. truck to take out on a sunny afternoon has never been restored awalys wears its bow tie proud and is 45 yes 46 this comming fall years old and has Over 200K miles under is FRAME OF COSMETIC RUST ONLY BTW. little toy cars?? first it is in the name and tell the guy with the tundra that ran the red light that my other chevy ate that I HAD THE TOY sorry ota he may R.I.P

  • the reason american cars don't have the high resale value foreign cars have...buyers want to KEEP their american cars. Foreign cars have a high resell value so consumers can do just that...resell it. Unload it on the next unsuspecting fool. Why have a high resell value if you're gonna keep it? All of my chevys are still goin' strong. I'd like to see a yota do that at 45 years old.

  • Actually, no. Domestic cars depreciate more quickly because there's a perceived lack of long-term reliability in domestics compared to imports. Anything other explanation is a result of your (wrong) interpretation.

And people keep American vehicles longer than they do imports? Ha. Check the car ads next time you get the paper. It's a non-argument.

  • @Arecibo that all depends are where you live. If you live in the city you will have no use for a dependable vehicle that can do more than just go from point a to point b and flash pretty lights and entertain you. Where I come from (southern Indiana) we need a vehicle that can go the distance. Hard miles that a foriegn vehicle just can't do. Import cars (for the most part) are designed for city and highway driving. They aren't designed for the backroads. Granted american vehicles are progressing

  • @beernutsandu - I would put a Tundra, Frontier, or Ridgeline up to whatever you can throw at it

  • @Arecibo toward the flashy stuff that the imports offer to appeal to a younger consumer market, they just don't make 'em like they used to.

  • I wish you good health and the abilty to #1 find a huge sand box or mud hole shallow ditch EXT.# 2 the courage to slam it to neutral grab the E and smile to know that your toy ota didnt KILL ANYONE TODAY

  • This is the product of a bloated company mass producing motor cars with a pedigree in the TEXTILE industry!

  • The placement of wrong sized mat by an employee of the dealer in the car involved in the accident which killed the Saylors and the brother-in-law is the foreseeable problem of Toyota?

    I hope not.

Using some of faulty friction levers produced by American CTS, while those model installed with Denso parts are not subject to the recall, are certainly Toyota's responsibility, but is it foreseeable problem?

    I hope not.

Bashing Toyota in this way will not change 10 worst cars on resale value.

  • Did the caller mention anything about "Suspected" Sudden Acceleration? No, he said, accelerator is stacked.

The problem of using some defect friction levers manufactured by American CTS is Toyota's problem.. But, is it forseeable problem? I hope not.

CTS said , the sales volume to Toyota is 3% of their $700M. sales. it means the whole problem was just caused by $21M worth friction levers. Toyota could solve the problem by dropping CTS and using Denso parts.

  • Why would his wife lie, they were going 120..Who would kill his family

  • Normally these types of accidents are ruled 'of suspicious or mysterious nature', 'driver error' or even 'possible suicide'. Sadly, this is what it took for the nation to take notice of the deadly problem and for Toyota to issue a recall (reluctantly).

  • Kinda shows you how smart the nation is, doesn't it?

    Please watch this video

    /watch?v=3eGTqKn_ihc

    and this one, from 1999!!!!

    /watch?v=XiFFlYMM2YY

  • And if he wasn't on a suicide mission, then he was a 100% pure dumb-ass.

Probably only survived childhood because of the implimentation of child-safe toys 40 years ago.

Making toys safe for dumb-ass kids interupted the process of natural sellection.

There are way too many people alive today that should have died off at a young age.

And now they are out there reproducing........

  • It's a scary thought, that. I'd suggest you commit suicide to protect yourself against it.

  • chevy has NEVER had this problem

well...maybe with 3rd party mats but nothing close to toyota.

so would you choose reliability over safety?

  • You're somewhere between science and science fiction... But Toyota's answer seems a bit too easy.

  • Does anyone stop and think solar flare or space radiation could be the cause? i know it sounds ridiculous but, there are some articles saying as computer chips gets smaller, it gets more sensitive to sudden burst of sun's radiation or cosmic rays. and we would expect about one of 30 computer errors is due to these causes.

  • Toyota hates to recall cars. I hurts their "J.D Powers" rating. People need to die before Toyota will issue a recall.

Domestic auto makers are the opposite (except for that Ford/Firestone mess). My F-150 got a recall involving a pad glued on the inside of a fender (can cause rust they said). It still has it stuck there, I guess, I don't really care.

  • Have you seen the abysmal crash test of the F150 on youtube. I'd say Ford dont care much about safety if you ask me

  • the F150 has the highest crash rating of ANY pickup truck-all you gotta do read jdpower dumbass.

  • JD Power? I put that in next to the fiction section in my library.

  • another blind Toyota idiot speaking straight from his ass. Where do you trolls come from?

  • Toyota has had over 2000 uncontrolled acceleration incidents, and has been aware of this problem since 1999. it took over 10 years for them to finally address this problem. so sad that several families like this one have had to lose their lives before toyota will finally do something...how many more will die before this is over?

  • Not just Toyota, and this one is from 1999!

    /watch?v=XiFFlYMM2YY

  • It's not that it took them 10 years to address it. It is that they didn't get CAUGHT for 10 years. I don't think they ever would have addressed the problem had they not been caught with their hands in the cookie jar and the dead bodies on the kitchen floor.

  • Toyota (Lexus) created this mess ipso facto. But it's up to all of us to familiarize ourselve with the latest, newest car functions. Just in case...Go thu the list; like "ok, plan 'a' failed, ok plan 'b' failed..."

This particular gentleman (the CHP officer rest in peace) might have been stuck on plan 'a' . It happened so quick... They estimate a 5 mile ordeal. At 100mph average, that's only like 2 or 3 minutes tops.

  • @toyauto1

when the president of toyota chooses to ride an Audi instead of one of his own companies cars, he must think the risk is more than tiny.

  • what about handbrake?

  • @kingfker The handbrake was

apparently was applied (parking brake). But it doesn't apply enough pressure to overpower the engine at any speed, let alone 120mph But it will cause excessive heat and or sparks as they wear out. Witnesses did say they saw flames coming from the wheels. The regular service brake would not and could not cause any flames (the witnesses probably saw sparks) especially since at full or wide throttle, the engine produces not enough vacuum for the 'vacuum assist' brakes.

  • Ok,thanks i think its little bit fucked up some where, it shud be phisical imposible to come in this situation like this, shud down engine, parashute, stop rockets or something..But Toyota did mistake thought, its unbelivible fucked up!

  • when the president of Toyota (Akio Toyoda) will not even ride a toyota (abc news showed him getting into a black Audi wagon) it should not be a reassuring feeling for Toyota owners who are stuck with no alternative to riding their "russian roullette" mobile that toyota sold them. it is sad that toyota has known about this problem since 1999, and hasn't fixed it yet. i guess money means more than lives do

  • Russian Roullette?? Again, given the total number of Toyotas on the road, the total miles driven, and the number of incidents reported, the risk to any driver of this happening is tiny. Does Toyota need to address this..Yes. Could there be corporate cover-up..Yes. Does the average person need to sweat getting in their Toyota each day...NO! Each one of us is @ greater risk just driving to work in ANY car.

Stop suggesting that the risk of this is "Russian Roullette" Jeez!

  • Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is telling owners of recalled Toyotas to stop driving the vehicles and get them fixed.

LaHood's warning came in testimony before a House Appropriations subcommittee on transportation. LaHood says his advice to owners is to "stop driving it.

LaHood told reporters earlier in the day that Toyota owners should contact their dealer immediately and "exercise caution until repairs can be made."

  • Once again, people are speaking without looking @ the risk of the situation. Look @ the number of miles driven every day by Toyota owners of suspected vehicles nationwide. Account for the number of incidents reported daily. (Anyone driving a Toyota now would report an incident immediately) Figure roughly 2 million cars driving 10 miles daily 20 million miles/day. Risk=Tiny. I drive my Toyota every day and so do my customers. Risk blown out of proportion! Yes it needs to be fixed!

  • Yeah but you shouldn't have to worry about this risk. Quit trying to cover up for your stupid company and have some sympathy for this. It is not blown out of proportion. Apparently there is a defect that needs to be fixed. And until then the cars should be grounded. If it was your family I bet you wouldn't be saying this.

  • if you want to jeopardize yourself and your family in a toyota, its not much of my concern. problem is you and family in a runaway toyota jeopardizes my family as well-unacceptable.

  • Get real ass hole.

  • get fucked ricerfag.

  • well....not really. Look at the numbers. Globally, toyota has sold approximately 1.5 million priuses to date....they recalled 437,000 priuses....so...if my math is right that puts it at about a 1 out of 3 shot that your toyota is gonna screw up and probably kill you. That's ON TOP OF the risks already associated with driving.

  • No, "beernutsandu", your math is actually horribly, horribly wrong. Been a while since school, hasn't it?

  • @Arecibo haha how is my math wrong....granted I should have said toyota prius instead of toyota and it was actually just over 1.4 mill but I rounded up, so 4.37 * 3 = 13.11 pretty close if you ask me. I looked up the sale and recall numbers, and I graduated college in 2009 so no not that long. How about when you argue against something I say, put at least some kernel of knowledge in there to prove me wrong instead of just spouting loaded words.

  • LAhood works for Government Motors (GM) and thats why he said that.

  • It is Russian Roulette. And just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't make it ok. You should worry about getting in your Toyota. But don't worry if it does happen to you it is ok because it is only a few people who died there are plenty more out there. You won't be missed. Jack Ass!

  • Why the need to call names? In my opinion based on 28 years of automotive service, the risk to drive one of these cars is tiny. I do drive one every day as does my wife and customers. I've stated there is a problem and Toyota should address it. I object to fear mongering and spreading inaccurate information which is what goes on when people don't look @ the whole situation. I don't represent Toyota, I represent someone refusing to allow needless hype to dictate my actions.

  • There were 34,000 traffic fatalities in the US in 2008. Why the hand wringing and call to park all cars when an average of 93 people die each day in auto accidents for all causes. How many deaths directly relate to Toyota throttle issues out of that number? Any needless death is too many, but let's be realistic about everyday risks. Not once have I said there isn't a problem nor suggested Toyota sweep it away. Just stop with the panic attack or just stay home no matter what you drive Danger!

  • If people object to Toyota's handling of this situation, fine and I see the anger. But the elevation of the perception of danger is just that..perception, not reality. Millions of miles have been driven since 1999 without incident on these vehicles and now they're unsafe? What about all those miles without incident 10 years would represent approx 300,000 traffic deaths. How many were a Toyota acceleration problem?? I don't know the answer. I know the system & am not worried about drivin

  • @toyauto1

I agree, let's not cause mass hysteria. But if it takes completely shutting down Toyota and banning all Toyotas from our roads Just to save one (insignifigant percentage wise) life... then that's what we need to do. Or can we put a price on someone life?

  • completely agree with you...just one case in how many years????

  • Wouldnt you just move the shifter to "N" ??

  • I am a 28 year Toyota Master Tech. I own my own service facility so I don't represent Toyota. Sudden acceleration" is incorrect. That would be when a vehicle accelerates without warning This is NOT what's happening. The risk is miniscule. There is more braking power than engine power if the driver uses full braking power. Remember we all face more risk of an accident or death each day we drive a vehicle than we do of the vehicle throttle sticking and causing a runaway situation.

  • look up runaway prius and tell me its not sudden acceleration...not all of us have drunk the toyota "kool aid" and are brainwashed.

  • I think the car CPU like brain chip got problem it cause by the cell phone or anyother thing. It's very common in asia in such major city big city many people use cell phone someting like that cause car going crazy horse

  • when the president of Toyota (Akio Toyoda) will not even ride a toyota anymore (abc news showed him getting into a black Audi wagon leaving a meeting) it should not be a reassuring feeling for Toyota owners who are stuck with no alternative to riding their "russian roullette" mobile that toyota sold them. Every trip in your car is like another pull on the trigger

  • Toyota 30 solid years of image making and golf sponsorship has just gone down the drain......and if they don't come clean with direct answers, the public will be looking to repay a visit to homegrown car producers like GM and Ford.

  • Japanese have been trying to kill us since WWII. This is their latest attack!!

  • I heard Toyota's brake pedal supplier, CTS, used the cheap/shoddy Chinese bushing part (to cut costs), which resulted in all these disasters... (Remember the Chinese-made Mattel Toy recall and/or Melamine Pet Food recall?)

The damn inferior/shoddy Chinese plastic crap are at it again!

  • i'm so lost, lol can someone gently explain to me why people are bashin toyota, when a lexus fcuked up, i dont know anythign about cars but i need ot know if maybe toyota makes lexus? um I like lexus but UI stay away from toyota because of their bad rap , so I guess i should like audi?

  • Yes Toyota Makes Lexus. Like Nissan makes Infinity.

  • when this happens in haiti toyota just tells the people it was some evil voodoo that took over the car.

  • Toyota has known about this issue for years. I really hope that its only a stuck accelerator issue and not an electronics issue as that would be even worse.

I've never owned a Toyota but sister bought a Camry two years ago. It was just traded in for a Ford Fusion.

Every trip in your car is like another pull on the trigger. I pray for the families of all those who have been killed or injured in the over 2200 reported incidents with these cars.

  • rip.... ㅠ.ㅠ

  • autocoverup

  • save a life

    park a toyota

  • I own a Tundra truck. One day I was driving and the entire steering column internal metal parts just shattered as i shifted from D to 2. I had no control over the transmission at all. Toyota was totally smug about it and charged me $800 to fix it. The only reason Toyota is addressing the fatal crash at all, is because there is an audio tape. Otherwise they'd stonewall. They're a crooked, evil company that owes anyone left in that family 100 million per victim, and a public admission of guilt.

  • I love the fake wood steering wheels on Jap Lux cars.

And the front A-pillar with SRS bags size of 2x4 blind spot when you turn left.

The Japs deep pinic table dash that refracts on windscreen from shiny dash is classic Camaro 1994

  • i hate cops but not when a family is involved you dumb fucker. go die one less douche

  • wow you're very cold and cruel...he has a life to live as well man... i'm not goin apeshit on you but seriously maybey you should consider change of perception, he has a job like anyone of us in the future, and a mother/father and family... now they're all finished... its a very tradgic incident

  • Toyota is insinuating that an American Manufacturer, CTS, is at fault.

CTS began making pedals for them in 2005, and has never made a pedal for the Lexus. This is shameful. All fatalities have occurred in the Lexus. Toyota has experienced problems with unintended acceleration since 1999.

The problem was floor mats until you sent your specs to an American manufacturer?

  • I find it hard to believe the man didn't try turning the engine off by holding the START ENGINE button for 3 seconds. He obviously had to know how to turn the engine off before he left the rental lot. Possibly, there's more than floormats and glitchy fly-by-wire at issue here.
