what I don't get is when Richard was trained by Denna, he overcame the power of the agiel, and it affected him the same as it affected the ones wielding it, and yet when an agiel is used against him it still hurts him to the point of not being able to move.

I mean come on.

One end may cause great pain, but perhaps the non-handle end causes even greater pain...or, when one deliberately steels him/herself to grasp the agiel, that inflects less pain than being touch involuntarily (as Cara forced it on Richard).

@baraxor Nah, both ends are supposed to cause great pain because that's how they work. I think it has something to do with the magic in them, causing the Mord-Sith to become angry, and so they train people.

I wish they'd done the training like in the books though. It was much better.

Ep 16 ("Bloodline") showed that when the Boxes of Orden are put together, it doesn't just give that person the mojo to command everyone, it also turns him into a power-crazed monster.

In the previous ep, Richard was going to kill himself with poison just before joining the Boxes to command Darken Rahl, so that he himself didn't become as evil as Darken.
