the great guitar player ,maybe the top bluesman ,and dont miss Hendrix made it in only 3 years ,wow ,around 10 albums original ,a studio "Electric Ladyland"Thank You John Mayer to recognition the gratefulness off Hendrix ,too many times ,somebody said he is dead by overdose of heroine, and today we know, nobody can leave with a galon of alcool, and nobody can drink buy himself a gallon ,now we know it is a murder with many more at the time off Nixon President terms....Hope you are glad Jimi...Thank
AS an old fart that first heard Bold as Love while blown out of my mind, over 40 years ago, I think John Mayer did a fine job making it his own. Nice job!
Man, I totally agree with you. You can tell that jmneon is a wimpy, insecure loser going nowhere by those TWO WORDS he wrote... And John Mayer is definitely self absorbed because he didn't want to play Jimi's song exactly the same as the original.
On second thought, that seems totally stupid, immature, and makes no sense at all... hmm.
I really appreciate John's viewpoint: Jimi DID write some beautiful stuff. "Bold As Love", "Wind Cries Mary","Castles Made of Sand",etc. As he points out, Hendrix's chordal accompaniment, especially on "Bold", is extraordinary. Born of his roots in the Blues, and his rhythm guitar work for his early bands, his melodic, contra-puntal style is pure genius: It makes Jimi's music flow. And "Bold"'s lyrics are a poetic tapestry in themselves. Kudos to John;Great player in his own right. Peace:-)
He's not that young, 35, hendrix was 27 when he died, and already relased 4 records that changed the world forever, mayer has only done pop music so far, and is far from one of "the greats" now
You think the Live in LA is a pop album??? WTF? Granted there is some old pop stuff on there like Neon but Gravity, Belief, Bold as love(yes i realize its a Hendrix song before anyone gives me shit about it) the majority of that album is blues at his finest.
all that and no music? frak

I like John's version too! I think Jimi's original idea was good. But John put a nice spin on it.

Lol. You must be even stupider than I thought if you couldn't make sense of that. I'm not even going to bother arguing with you.
Oh, and it's "YOU'RE such a dumb shit", not "your". Totally different words. Gosh!

You've got to hand it to the young'un, he really has respect for the greats who came before him...
He plays Hendrix as well as anyone, better than the vast majority.
