I didn't care for this beer at all. I bought a bottle for Christmas to share with my family. They were definitely going for a champagne-type of beer....but I'd rather buy an actual bottle of champagne. I don't mind a lot of carbonation (such as Rochefort 6), but this was way over-carbonated. Like Imasofat said, I'd give this a C. I wouldn't pay $20...or even $10 for a bottle of this again.
I think that they were just trying to create something unique. I've heard Jim Koch state that they were creating a 'new style of beer', and I think that he truly believed that. In my opinion, they just created a twist on an existing style of beer and carbonated the shit out out of it. That doesn't merit $20/bottle. Simply, it's a marketing tool to make money, IMO.
@hophedbrewhaus I somewhat agree. When I buy this bottle I try to remind myself that I'm buying a bottle of Champaigne. Your average bottle of Champaign is the same price. And you sip it like a champaigne, so it's not truely a waste. It's great for a special occasion. It gets you super buzzed too, lol.
What do you suppose boston breweries was hoping this beer would do? With that high carb it might work on the "champagne of beers" crowd, but not at 20$....
Judging by the way you made faces and the things you said, I thought your were going to give it a C. When you consider the price of the bottle, that has got to take it down another notch. I'm glad I didn't buyzdabeer!
@Imasofat Ya, don't buyzdisbeer. I thought it was a little better than what some people have been saying about it, but it's nothing earth-shattering, and certainly not worth $20.

Your face is the best clue of the taste, like you ate a lime. I have a dislike for overly carbonated beer, good review
