  • How much cost this engine for commercial licence?

  • @MrMatomi Starting from September 2011 NDK will cost $499 per seat

  • looks great

  • @IIRedNaxElaII you don't even know what you're talking about.

  • Your ToD appears to be a bit lagged, i mean, it looks like no real time, because on the video the lighting steps, the color grade steps, it does'nt rus smooth, not the way it is pretended to be.

  • the ground needs work aswell

  • nice i like but the SSAO you kinda do need to work on

  • I think you will be the next competing with crytech. By the way the demo is very impressive. Keep it up :)

  • 'cough' crysis 2 water

  • oh my..

  • Looks great! But ;) I realise you are concerned with the engine mainly. But wind was affecting things but not the ground or water. There was no sand being randomly blown which would occur with the force of wind occuring. Also the ground seemed too flat. I've never been to an island that has dead flat ground (no divets, etc).

And is it just me or did the fish swim through the rock at the start?

Also at the start the palm trees didn't look anti aliased but most of the rest of the demo did.

  • Wow! It needs only an army of graphic designers and photographers... Some new super graphics cards... And one day we will see photorealistic game!

  • very nice job folks, ill keep an eye on this project and try to experiment with it, perhaps give feedback :)

  • I like the potential this engine has, although I do think that your SSAO algorithm needs some work, it seems to leak too much occlusion all over the screen. Also your GI implementation doesn't seem very clear in this demo nor on the screenshots on the website. Looks more like sub-surface scattering. All in all, very impressive. Get some decent assets in there and you'll kick some serious ass. Also, loose the CryEngine-jungle setting. How many people are working on this, if I may ask?

  • @wiegje Hello, we are releasing our NDK in about 4 weeks so please feel free to download it and test SSAO and GI yourself :-) We are not making a specific video game so we used a jungle environment because it was easy to setup, that's all ...

  • @NeutronEngine Cool, be sure to keep me updated :)

  • meh. that bird is a homo

  • This engine has all of the technology but none of the art that's required for an impressive engine. Plus it's trying to compete directly with CryEngine by showing this sort of environment.

  • @3kliksphilip I think you are missing a point a bit here, art is not required for impressive engine but rather for an impressive demo :)

  • @NeutronEngine You're right, I have no idea what makes for an impressive tech demo. Ignore me.

  • @NeutronEngine its still great, the water, the shadows, the lighting, the clouds, the birds, ok it doesnt look realistcic, but thats the looks, the effects, are great. nice job, very nice

  • @NeutronEngine Perhaps you should stop arguing with people who are offering constructive criticism, and instead embrace what people say and make what you make better.

Impressive demo / engine = same thing really, I suggest you become more artistic with the 'demos' you release.

  • @3kliksphilip wow i actually saw THE kliksphilip on a vid in a comment! and what else than in a dx11 tech demo! ur the man

-looking forward to new stuff from ur channel :D

  • Srry but i dont like the way the palm trees look

  • @bringingbettergaming Those are just temporary assets used for this demo and they won't be used for any further demos or projects done with NDK ...

  • LAAGGY and HAWXLEADER, this engine is good as crytek, there is all new stuff, physics, open world with a lot of nature,day-night changing...its just about textures...

  • LOL THE CRYENGINE 3 IS WAAAY BETTTEEEEERR

  • @HAWXLEADER Well, we haven't released our engine yet so you can just compare the art and that's different story :) Once our NDK is released and we have a demo done by professional artists like those working for CryTek then you can make a realistic comparison ...

  • @NeutronEngine yea thanks i noticed that your demo here does not got any good textures (but for samll demo the models are nice)

if you get GI work good than youll be better than cryengine 2

cos i didnt see ce3 GI yet

  • @HAWXLEADER Yeah, GI will be an interesting feature, we use slightly different approach compared to CryTek but results should probably be similar since it's all just an approximation of the real GI ...

  • I'm...

    Not impressed...

Eveything looks too spikey, and green, and the other colors are unreal

  • @LAAGGY Keep in mind that this demo is showcasing technology not the art, art wasn't done by professional artists and that's quite obvious ...

  • @NeutronEngine

My bad, sorry. I didn't notice it was made by them

  • So the wind is just an animation? No wind physics?

Also, the waterfall at 4:35 is beautiful. Is it done in real time?

  • @sd2467 Hello, yeah wind is animated directly in vegetation shader. Wind physics is normally implemented with particles, we will be looking at particle systems accelerated by NVidia PhysX. Everything in this demo is running real-time, including waterfalls. They are done as a GPU based particle system using geometry shader as an emitter.

  • sexy

  • 1:29 pop up lol sorry!

  • somebodys been playing crysis.....

  • interesting

  • that bird was floppy

  • LOL, fancy demo and the fish go right through the rocks!!!

  • @VideyoJunkei lol, our bad, we didn't move particle system high enough :-)

  • Will it be on Game Consoles?

  • @BigBoss9865327410 Hello :) Current consoles are outdated, they can't run most of the features from NeutronE. If Microsoft releases a replacement for XBOX 360 we'll port NeutronE to that console ...

  • Not the present ones. Their hardware cannot support dx 11. There's only a handful of cards that can support dx 11 as of current.

  • why the clouds stay in place when daytime changing?

  • hello :) clouds are fully dynamic, check how they look at 2:00 and then at 3:00, quite different ... also, have a look when camera is above ocean at 3:35. speed of clouds can be controlled by several parameters in the engine

  • @NeutronEngine those clouds are controlled via a particle system too? that'd open a few gates for RPGs.. like, real weather influence :3

  • @DERTOBL Clouds are simulated real time in separate thread using real physically correct calculations. We already support weather change based on humidity, rain and lightning are included. There is no support for snow at the moment but we can easily add that as well ... On the other hand, you could create clouds using our particle system generator and combine with real time clouds, or you could hide real-time clouds and use your own, it's up to you ...

  • I truly understand current corporate culture & stunts to provide current and latest technology with reliability and quality in mind would required massive fund but i guess still as indie we are the 'small' people hoping also to provide our small base customer with 'shiny' new effect, well it could be just always dream for us as small people isn't it?Always for big boys.About the technology,do you plan to support OpenGL 4 also?.

  • @Bosoa Hello again :) We don't have any plans to support OpenGL 4. On the other subject, yeah, Epic, CryTek and others charge a lot for their engines because it takes years to develop them and it costs them a lot of money. I guess quality has it's price :)

  • i bet the price around 400k-800k$?i wonder if there is company care about directx 11 on indie community :(

  • @Bosoa Hello :) Well, we wan't to encourage people to make great games using latest technology! We plan on providing flexible licensing options, tailored to user needs and project aspirations.

  • The engine looks like it has tons of potential. However, I do not like some textures in the video. SSAO and LOD related issues look very nice though. Very happy to see SSAO.

  • thanks for the comment :) this demo was not done by a professional artist due to time constraints and rush to make it happen for GDC 2010. we are sure that in the hands of the right artists NeutronE will achieve it's full visual potential, it's just a matter of time ...

  • Glad to hear that. Are there any games that are listed to use your Engine in the future?

  • Not at the moment, engine is still work in progress. As soon as we have some news on that front we'll let everyone know.

  • i wish it was more 3d, i mean the waterfall.

but it looks realy good, but the change of day to night doenst looks pretty, it looks rushed.

    overall great engine!!

  • The change of the day might look rushed because of youtube compression. I've got the same problem with a video I recorder some time ago. Btw this engine looks impressive. Nothing less than other ones like Cryengine or Unreal3.

  • thanks! rendering water is always tricky but there is place for improvement. we move time a bit too fast to make video shorter (that section is still a bit too long) so that's why it looks a bit rushed. video compression probably exaggerates the issue ...

  • the textures, ocean and shadows need a lot more detail, apart from that the shading technologies this engine supports are top notch

  • @eka501 glad you like the shading :) we did this demo to demonstrate rendering techniques, art is not top notch simply because we did not finish our tools in time for GDC so we couldn't involve good artist in demo development. tools are almost done now so the next demo will be even more impressive!

  • looks good, but the shadows need working on...when 2 shadows overlap, that area becomes more dark. go outside when the sun is out, and you'll see.

  • that's just one of many parameters that can be tweaked, it's made a bit darker so it's more noticeable in the demo

  • what I mean is that only the area where the 2 shadows are overlapping is darker. the rest is a bit brighter. if you walk through a park at night and there are trees between the lamps on the side and you, you'll see how they overlap. that's not down to a parameter...it's the technique used :) like adding 2 alpha values

  • At 4:35 is "Real time GPU Particles with physics and collision detection"

Is the physic done by the CPU or done by compute shaders?

  • NeutronE supports both, the scene in the demo is done on GPU completely

  • CryEngine 3

  • well... it for sure beats cryengine 3, just beacuse it where made for consoles

  • Good point, consoles are using very old technology, it's impossible to have a "next generation" engine running on current consoles.

  • @runarboy1 CE3 is for consoles

  • i know that

  • This is just Crysis wannebe as ProperSauce said

  • Just to clarify few points. We've chosen tropical surroundings for the demo because it's easier to compare NeutronE features with other engines. NeutronE can render any kind of 3D environment and we have no intention of making a Crysis like video game.

  • Looking good is like crysis! :)

  • Crysis wannabe. The textures don't look good. The onlything impressive to me here was nightime. That looked good.

  • wow, nice piece of work. Did you do this in C# or C++ ??

  • Comment removed

  • that's an unbelieveable work! are you working this for a long time?

  • thanks :) the engine has been in development for almost 4 years

  • thanks guys, it's great to hear good comments :-) sound effects have been added to the demo, now it's more realistic and interesting to watch! stay tuned, installer will be released soon ...

  • amazing

  • This is pure awesomess, keep up the great work!

  • Awesome news ! Can't wait to get my hands on it.
