  • As an E/O, this was piss poor intersection work by that apparatus. He certainly would have been at fault had a collision occurred. If he did slow down, it was imperceptible and he certainly didn't slow down enough to stop completely if needed. For all of the grief we give the public for not doing what they're supposed to do, we need to own up as well when we fuck up

  • lol. thats not a close call...

  • Lights and siren are only there to advise people you need to blow the light due to a emergency. last time I checked it was against the law to "blow" a red light EVEN for emergency vehicles. That is why all the technology has come about for the stop light preemitters that give all vehicles using them a green light. TO MANY firemen, paramedics, policemen have died because they failed to stop or get reconized at a intersection before just blowing thru it for most of the time a "band-aid" call.

  • How many of the people commenting here have taken an EVOC class? If that engine operator hit and killed the cars driver, he would face manslaughter charges and face prison time. Going through that intersection at that speed when the engine operator had a red light was irresponsible, even though he is running code (lights and siren) he needs to yield to the traffic with green lights. He should have come close to a full stop before proceeding through. A move like this could jeopardize your job.

  • @WIFire10 I have taken EVOC.And people get hit by trucks going through red lights all the time, many killed.Actually, its rare anyone goes to jail, because some states it is a law to yield to emergency vehicles, and the law requires emergency operators to operate with diligent due regard, meaning speeding through any intersection isnt allowed, by completly stopping isnt required either.Ive heard of more private drivers sent to jail than emergency operators when the two collide.

  • @masturmax...time to leave the adults to talk. Go back to the kids table and jerk off to justin bieber...mmk?

  • @specops....while i agree at 3 am there is lighter traffic, there are still civilians on the road. You may make it through every intersection 99.9% of the time at 60+ mph, but why take the chance? There is ALWAYS a small chance of something going wrong? At 60+ can you see EVERYTHING? If the responders have an accident what good is that going to do for the victims? They have to wait longer.

  • So much for driving with due regard. The call isn't going anywhere. No need to potentially endanger yourself and others. You're no use in trying to help someone if you become a victim yourself.

  • @Tower2649 Thank you!

  • @ryanlovestosnowboard not quite.

  • This shall be my last response to tis video. You wanna drive with no regard to your safety, public safety. Be my guest. I will continue to slow down at the intersections that I approach where I have the RED light and I will continue to clear the intersection. What's the point in going balls out to a call if you don't get there at all? Too many people with "Subs", people texting and not paying attention. More power to you.

  • @Ronin2180 Well your last comment just shows how iggnorant you are... So fuck off. Thanks

  • @masturmax1 Wow, that was mature. How was any of my comments directed towards you to warrent you telling me to "fuck off"? Also how does my comment come across "iggnorant" or ignorant? Please enlighten me? Is it cause I want to get to my calls safely? Then I guess I am the ignorant one......

  • @Ronin2180 None of them were directed to me... You just need to fuck off

  • @masturmax1 Take it down a notch internet tough guy.......

  • WestPlainsFD

    .

Search this page and you'll see how it's done right!!

  • @specops1991 They have lights and siren to warn other people that they are responding to an emergency. NOT to blow red lights and speed!! You are permitted to do 10 over the speed limit. You still have to clear the intersection. EX: When rolling to a RED light, stop and make sure everyone else is stopped and it is safe to go through the red light. You DO NOT just blast through an intersection just cause you're running code. That's how you get into accidents!!

  • I feel as if my IQ has gone down just from reading some of these comments. I hope for all of our sakes that some of you don't drive emergency vehicles. Cause judging by some of the comments, there's gonna be some serious accidents!! And yes, I do drive an emergency vehicle. You all should search West Plains and see how to properly respond! I'm really shocked at some of the stupid that has been said!

  • ya can't always hear those trucks, and my opinion wasn't a close call at all. ]

You guys are wasting your time...

  • This was anything but a close call. The car didn't even get near the truck. If the car did pull out the firefighter would of simply slowed down.

  • @gpavlovic25 If you dont know this fire trucks just dont "slow down" lol. fire trucks are extremely heavy , meaning if that car would have pulled off infront of em, he could just keep going right into em, which is most likley the possibility and out come of idiotic drivers who do that shit. Not to mention. Emergency vehicles have the right away, if you block an emergency vehicle that is in a huge red truck with sirens blaring then there just gunna go through yuh like a stick.

  • Why call the cops? The grey car did nothing wrong. He had a green light, and looking at all the trees on this intersection his view to the right was severely obstructed. Let's not forget that auto makers are now making cars where it is impossible to hear ANYTHING that happens outside, whether the radio is on or not.

In this instance the fire truck is actually in the wrong for failing to come to a complete stop. If an accident had happened, the department would have been liable for it.

  • @DeltaFoxtrotWhiskey3 He only came close to doing something wrong, so no, police weren't necessary. But from what I saw, his vision was not obstructed to any major extent. Also, that car is at the least 10 years old, and is an economy model, so it shouldn't pose a problem when it comes to hearing a siren.

  • The only reason he slowed down is because of that car, otherwise he would have just blown through the red light without a care.

  • It's because car makers these days put so much emphasis on luxury by "soundproofing" our cars, yeah, you can't hear the noises around you with the windows up and the radio on, but is that really a good thing? People need to be more aware while driving, not freakin isolated from the world.

  • THE TRUCK STILL SHOULD HAVE CHECKED UP THAT HOW CRASHES HAPPENS

  • how can you not see the flashing lights, q and air horn.

  • i like the way they show their patrotism by putting an american flag on top of the fire truck and have it waiving as it goes by

  • I disagree with most comments - we, as emergency responders are supposed to "drive with due regard for public safety". This includes STOPPING at intersections you clearly do not have a green showing. Even if this engine driver slowed down, in a court of law it he did not show due regard for public safety by rolling through the intersection. The 4 or 5 secs it takes to do this is more than worth someone's life, job, apparatus or another wreck. No emergency is worth all of these events.

  • where was the close call?

  • thats why you stop your fire truck at the red lights and lokk both ways then go

  • Emergency vehicles should carry devices that override radio and cell signals within a ceratin radius with a recorded message like GTFU OF THE WAY, YA DIPSHITS!!!!!!!

  • LOL not even close

  • @rykember11 ok then.

  • what a dipstick

  • Haha, check... got his license plate lolol

  • nice q work keep the vids comin they r great

  • be honest..the truck didnt even come close

  • @ryanlovestosnowboard But they still have to clear the intersections!.

  • Wait she? Women joke in 3....2...1.....anyway the emergency vehicle, in this case Engine 127 clearly gave warning with it's(forgot what it was called. It's horn? Air Horn?)Like you really can't hear a siren getting louder at a intersection and a horn going of like crazy?!?!

  • haha u were trying to get her plate num., weren't you? lol

  • awesome

  • Nice video

  • The engine slowed down for the intersection, rykember11 was right when he said that it just didnt look like it in the video. I am not sure that lady was on a cell phone or not but its very common for drivers to just assume they have the right away on the green arrows and not look at all. At least she was able to stop as some people just gun it through the arrows.

  • that is perfect way to use the intersection full q air horns and u slow down to be careful a job well done all respect to you. stay safe!

  • @firemanstevemfd How could this cost someone their job? They did everything right, they slowed down for the light, even though it doesn't seen like it in the video. The visual and audiable warning devices were being used correctly, and the grey car pulled out in front of them. I think the lady was on a cell phone, I'm not sure though.

  • @rykember11 read up on sirens and audibles and from what directions they can be seen and heard from, as well as how far away an audible can be heard. also, the engine does not have the right away, no matter what, if they hit that car, it would be their fault. but the car stopped clearly and they proceeded safely, no need for complete stop. a smart engineer knows that all drivers are stupid-trust no one, for your rig is your ass

  • @Ronin2180 Just wondering, how do you come to the conclusion that it is irresponsible?

  • @rykember11 Barely slowing down. If that car wasn't there, do you really think the driver would've touched the brakes at all? Always clear the intersection against a red!

  • @Ronin2180 He slowed down. It doesn't look like it in the video from the angle I was at and it being on a hill. And I have seen this driver driving before and he is a very cautious one.

  • @rykember11 NEVER assume that people hear or see your emergency lights.

  • @Ronin2180

Definitely don't know what video your watching but you can see the firetruck slowing down as it approaches the intersection and start to accelerate once the gray car has come to a stop and they are confident the intersection is clear.

  • @rykember11 the reason it could cost the chauffeur his/her job is because (at least in the northeast) an emergency vehicle must come to a complete stop at any red light or stop sign. As much as it does not seem practical in shortening response time, the driver will always be at fault if there is an accident and they did not stop

  • @firemanstevemfd nothing like this will cost anyone their job, nothing was done wrong.

  • @firemanstevemfd This will cost no one anything except the time of the poster. If this driver was driving half as recklessly as you think, there would have screeching brakes, more than the 20-25 feet between vehicles when they passed, extreme horn use from both, and likely, an actual wreck.Stop being a Johnny Dogooder and become a Robby Reality.

  • @CyanoticFuture The sense of "recklessness" from the engineer is perceived in the eye of the beholder. No this was not a near miss. Yes the laws do vary from place to place, but for the most part the laws all stress same importance of due regard. As far as being realistic, however, this needs to be applied from both the angle of the apparatus, and the other drivers on the road with it.

  • @Tower2649 HHHHmmmmm yea...but the perception of the apparatus operator and the perception from a typical US driver are 2....utterly, totally different things. In the US, you can drive, and operatea. what, 2 ton vehicle with 10-40 gallons of very flammable liquids at speeds exceeding 60 MPHS w/o any supervision .However most Depts. and private co. require you be at least 18 , if not 21, to even train to learn how to drive any type of apparatus, from an SUV to full size ladder truck.

  • @Tower2649 My point bluntly being, you average , lets say 25 year old emergency apparatus vehicle operator has more training, technical, hands-ons, and classroom wise, than your average 55 year old whom simply passed his BMV operators, which was much harder even 15 years ago today, test at 16-18 years of age, back in the 60 s - 70 ,s.

  • @CyanoticFuture I totally understand your point. Having driven a variety emergency vehicles from ambulances to tower ladders its something that I am 100% aware of. Everything from the seemingly endless hours for EVOC classes I've taken, to the amount of calls where I have been in charge of operating the apparatus. I can assure you too that I'll be the first one to defend a public safety official in a situation that warrants it because of my background.

  • @CyanoticFuture However, being the one with the superior training, you are held to a higher standard and need to respect the laws in place to protect us against Average Joe in his toyota camry. Yes driving code to emergencies takes a lot of judgement calls and "bending the rules than the average person. We've seen how terrible some drivers are when we're going on these calls. I'm not saying this engineer was irresponsible, but why not cover your own ass for when the end result isn't as favorable

  • @Tower2649 Ill tell what Ive seen in real life, alot of that " higher standard" stuff is hot baloney. That higher standard means we dont break, nor bend the rules when you exceed the speed limit or go through a red light after stopping and clearing, because those rules dont apply to us, But we are to do such with total due regard. In court, unless due regard wasnt used, that higher standard stuff is fluff and words, nothing you can use to actually convict anyone

  • @Tower2649 because everyone, even highly trained pros, makes mistakes, errors, and misjudgements, and saying you shouldnt have done that because of your higher standard is not a legal, and often not even rational argument

  • @CyanoticFuture You've lost me now. Don't know where you're going with this.

  • @Tower2649 Im saying, people think that emergency operators should never , ever get into a wreck, and some emergency operators themselves somehow got the notion that any wreck they get into, especially while using lights / sirens, or if a fatality is involved , is automatically their fault because of this " higher standard" . Im saying , if youre using a good amount of reasonable due regard, and a wreck occurs, this notion and perception of auto fault is complete bullshit

  • @Tower2649 Sorry, if Im not making perfect sense, im rushing through my responses, im making about 3 at a time, plus were limited to a measly 500 characters...

  • @Tower2649 Blowing through , or at least not almost crawling through if you dont totally stop at an intersection ,against a light or stop sign, or going 15-20 MPH over the speed limit, are some examples of not using due regard.Outside of these and a few other perimeters, again, that higher standard stuff, means nothing. That is reality, because higher standard only means youre allowed to do things other arent and expected to do safely, but even then, accidents can happen.

  • @Tower2649 And Im not even blasting the driver of the gray car, because he did exactly thing also, so I dont know why people are blasting him....youre making a left on green, not expecting a fire engine to approach, it catches you by surprise, and you stop, just like the gray car driver did, because he was paying attention and not taking the left turn like race car driver....so Im saying ,while everything may be dne better per say, all drivers here did what was expected of them.

  • In Japan, emergency vehicles must say please and thank you and be all polite if they want people to stop for them otherwise about half of them would ignore them

  • I like how the engine did not stop at the stop light even though he had the red light.

  • Good driving. You were going slow enough to stop easily if needed. Glad the guy looked though.

  • Dude, im lovin that KME surpisingly! and that mofo in the grey care, Wako shoulda taught him a lesson xD hop on AIM in a bit.

  • dumbass mustve been on a cell phone

  • @Cbluboi01 lol

  • @Cbluboi01 I think she was.

  • @rykember11 i guess shit wagons come with soundproof windows now lol great video

  • yeah man get that plate lol
