After over 3 hours they were unable to resolve the matter and told me that there was nothing further that they could do. I filed a claim for a refund on the technical support and was (VERY RUDELY I MIGHT ADD by "Orville badge #GWSS116") denied. I'm really not sure which is worse, the customer support or the product. After my experiences not only would I not recommend purchase, I would strongly advise against it. I hope this review helps someone before they make the same mistakes that I did.

Actually I've got a slight better model, the Timeline 4810TZ, which has a dual core CULV SU4100 cpu which is the fastest I've had (I think it behaves the same as the new CULV core i3). This is the best laptop I've ever had, is very light and fast to do any multitasking I've ever imagined. The Windows 7 64 Bit is much faster than any other OS I've ever tried. DDR3 memory and the Hard disk have incredible performance. The battery lasts 7.5 hours for my everyday work.

The 4810TZ model has a dual core CPU while battery still goes for 8 hours long. This CPU is fastest than my old Desktop's Intel Pentum D 2.8Ghz, so Ghz speed is not important, this laptop is ideal for software development, I recommend it because it's capable of running application servers, IDE's, SQL Clients, MP3 listening, having Office 2010 Beta open concurrently. For all previous laptops I had used this has the better performance.

@CarbineGuy i own an acer too, and its working fine for 5 years now. Not all acers are bad.. some models are, you just have to do some researches about people's experiences about the particular model. Labeling all acer products as "bad" wouldn't be that accurate at all. Peace! =)

I have this laptop for about a month...it works very nice, battery life is as advertised - but the left hinge is starting to click. i had the same problem on my aspire 5100 which also started to click and then plastic bits from the hinge area started to come off. I have to send it in for repairs. i think it will be my last acer

the hinge problem got worse. when i pull out a usb cable from the usb port near the left hinge the power button LED goes off, then it come back on, but the computer still works so it's not shutting down. i don't have problems with multitasking. I started NFS most wanted, PS CS4, corel draw, winamp ymessnger, firefox and chrome and it still performed well.

Hey guys. Im a new laptop buyer. I need a laptop with atleast 2 GHz CPU, 1 GB ram. I need this lap top for school, gaming (so a good graphics card etc would be nice), and music. Im going to be using CUBASE with this, a music production program. I wont be recording like 10 things at once but I need enough inputs to be able to record. They are pretty reliable. In general laptops are more reliable than netbooks.

Build quality is above average in my opinion.

Just got this with Windows 7 Pre-installed. Nice machine and Windows 7 is miles better than Vista but coming from using a Macbook Pro for several months I find the Acer to be quiet noisy. There is a static white noise from the processor. I thought the first one I got was defective and took it back but the next one I got from another supplier is the same. Perhaps its just they noise its meant to make.

the 9600 will perform better for gaming. Go to System Preferences, select Energy Saver, then choose 'better performance'. It'll ask you to log out, do so, then log back in.

Hello, they are both pretty good in their own right. This is thin and compact, great battery. The Dell Studio you could spec up to be a much more powerful computer, but battery life would be shorter. Hi, I'm want to get a high end laptop, and want to know if I'm making the right decisions in terms of what's in it. It has 2 GTX 280m in SLI (I know, right?) and an Intel QX9300 2 Quad Core processor. I would also like Windows 7 Ultimate on it, but I don't know which bit to get (32 or 64) to be able to play all games (I'm planning on this being a gaming desktop replacement.). I don't know too much about bits, but with the processor and the OS, which bit should I get to play?

Get the 64 bit. All modern games will be fine on it. Only might need to worry if you are playing dos games. 64 is like 32 but better. The only problems are some minor driver and backwards compatibility issues. But in almost all cases 64 bit it the way to go.

But really why get a laptop. You realize that your going to pay 3000 dollars for a laptop that will only run on battery for about 10 minutes when you start playing any games. You realize that you will deep cycle you battery into submission.
