I actually prefer Wertico to Metheny's music. I think Sanchez makes it too straight-forward jazz, when Paul left more open to the interpretation, to the expression of whatever direction the music chose, making it free-er.

If anything, I love Pat Metheny's music because of this freedom from labels and music genres he always had and I learned from him as a musician myself, and Paul Wertico and Danny Gottlieb were the perfect drummers for that school of thought, as opposed to Antonio Sanchez, who's much too anchored to standard jazz, and makes everything Pat plays sound repetitive, even a bit redundant.

FFS man, are you actually listening? Yeah Danny and Paul were and are great, but Antonio is also. Yes he plays different in comparison, but Pat wouldn't have him if he didn't dig his playing. Perhaps you need to clean the wax outta yer ears, Antonio is an awesome drummer, if you don't get it fine, but please, repetitive?

I completely understand Pat digs his playing, otherwise he would have not hired him in the first place, Capt. Obvious, but my comment was a step ahead of that: I was pointing out the fact that Sanchez's playing is much too anchored around standard jazz, which we can hear from many other jazz players, and in my opinion is much too resctrictive for Pat's composing style.
