I was at that game, and much as I enoyed the win I was astounded at how bad Everton were (I'd been at Goodison in March or April 1970 to see us lose 0-5). That was the day Leeds got beaten at home by Wolves(?) thanks to two atrocious refereeing decisions. How we laughed, then went on to win the Cup against the most hated team in England.
It's hard to believe that this is the nucleus of the Everton team that ran away with the league a couple of seasons earlier. To say they were abysmal here is being very generous. They were hopelessly outplayed and could have lost by ten. The Everton team from '85 was much, much better than this.
