  • kid was jamming. way to go kid! great stuff...

  • As far as Kung Fu or Gong Fu or Tai Chi or Taiji so on and so on...all this confusion over the way Chinese is written in English...Chinese as a written language is pictographic based on Sanskrit originally...English is written in Hindu Arabic based alphabet...so what is the difference in Wade-Giles the older form of phonetically writing Chinese or Pinyin the modern way to write Chinese...so no difference....just written different.

  • Normal? A human imitating a bird is not really normal although it is an "art form". I think what you mean is "common" white crane which usually is a northern shaolin or Tibetan form of the animal style. The southern literally mean it originated in the southern shaolin temple in fukian or fujian province china as opposed to the northern shaolin temple in hunan province china...these are the two major temple of shaolin Buddhism in which the famous martial art originated.

  • @sifushaolin

I should have specified what I meant by "normal", was Tibetan. I didn't know there were so many variations of one animal form depending on geographical location and time period. Am I correct in assuming Tibetan was the first White Crane? I was told its a combination of influence of a martial arts master from India, and a monk witnessing a crane defend against an ape? And thanks for the info, I was having a very tough time trying to figure out the difference between the wording.

  • What is the difference between Southern Shaolin White Crane and normal White Crane? And why do some people say Gung Fu and some say Kung Fu ??

  • @camljokee sothern shaolin arts tend to, oddly enough focus a little more on the lower body( roots especially) im not sure if this is true of crane, but thats what ive noticed with most other southern and northern forms. footwork, attacking the roots, moving around and into the opponent or object as well as other more complicated movements and training. gung fu is the more original term, kung fu in america refers to just the physical forms, chinese martial arts, gung fu as popularized by...

  • @MightySunTzu many movies usually means the orignal chinese schools, both the spiritual and physical, the movement of jing, qi gong, and other arts. an artist may have gung fu- study the way, master it, forget the way and make your own way. the martial arts forms in china are traditionally called chan chuan.

  • that looked more like snake style

  • @inverosimilitud Good observation! Actually it would be the other way around...White Crane is a much older style than Snake (Snake looks like Crane) it was developed when a martial artist observed a "fight" between a crane and a snake...most traditional Crane sequences have "snake" strikes incorporated. I am sure that is what you noticed..but if you look closely (I know it goes a bit fast) you will see that throughout most of the form the hand isn't "snake hand" but actually a "crane wing"

  • @inverosimilitud Keep studying you'll get it bro!

  • southern shaolin for life...please watch my kung fu vids that i post and comment thank you for your time

    just click on y name

  • @FreekyDeeky21 People act like that because MMA is televised. These same people forget that there is no eye-gouging, no kicking on the ground, no hair pulling, no nerve pinching, no holding on to the fence (to ensure a wrestler has a fighting chance ), no pressure point strikes(WHAT?!), no small joint manipulation, no groin strikes. Before the fight begins a real martial artists weapons have been taken away. MMA is mostly wrestlers who punch and kick when they fight a guy who can wrestle better.

  • If I was a serial killer, I would not want to bump into this kid in a dark alley. LOL.

  • kid's pretty damn good

  • very good job,

either be more resolute or more fluid in your foot steps, but overall very good, congratulations man!! very good.

  • Very nice good job young man. Ba Mei Shou " The Hand of 8 Plums". Keep up the good work.

  • Looks good, very fast, overall quite nice. I would suggest doing some serious stance work, though. While the hands were wonderfully fast, the legs were shaking around like jelly.

  • are you sure this isn't fei hok?

  • it seems to me his stance is quite weak. his knees are moving all over the place. when i learned white crane (not shaolin) i was taught that this was paramaount. stands to reason, otherwise your opponent will deck you straight away. they might not even have to punch or kick you!

  • You learned a different style of white crane, this is southern "shaky or trembling" crane the movment is all in the waist..other styles like Tibetan or Hung style crane are generating the power differently. mostly from their stances like Nrthern long fist does. Trembling crane generates whip like power from the waist. Different

  • hey whats the other name for this style the chinese one?

  • well, hopefully as he gets better he will learn how the torso is moved in conjuction with the arms as power is generated from the ground up. check out some of yang jwing ming

  • He is a grandstudent of Yang Jwing Ming

  • oh?, then i believe he is in capable hands and would show remarkable improvement in the years if not months, no days to come.

  • ...BTW NOT TO BAD FOR A 14 YO WITH LIMITED EXPERIENCE...YOU SHOULD SEE HIM NOW A FEW YEARS LATER THAN WHEN THIS VIDEO WAS SHOT...Thanks for your comment nice to be able to expose others to different styles...later

  • Comment removed

  • @rootsraf

People like you are so damn hilarious, you talk shit online about someones form and how they do it when you don't even practice there style to even know if there doing it correct or not lol

You said "I was TAUGHT this was paramount"

    But then again you said--

"when i learned white crane (NOT shaolin)"

Of course you were "taught" different...you were doing a completely different style!

  • The bit rate for this video is too low. I cant see what he's doing.

  • Hey I got a new video of me playing guitar and If you guys like classic rock you should come and see it. :D

  • Kung Fu is misrepresented way to often, This is a video of a teenage student performing a choreographed sequence in the classic style of Southern Shaolin White Crane. The difference between this and sport fighting styles such as MMA is the fact this is an Art Form.the key word is Arta huge misrepresentation of sport fighting styles such as MMA is the use of the word Artwhen in reality it is sportin Chinese the words used to describe art, sport or spiritual path are very, very specific.

  • In the case of Martial Sport the word Wu Shu or Wu Su is used depending on the phonetic English version you subscribe to. Wu is Martial, Sport is Shu, Marial Art is Wu Yi, to differentiate the Art form from the sport form, and there is a lesser used form Wu Tao or Martial Path which signifies a spiritual path followed using Martial practice as the vehicle towards a higher spirituality. Now that you know that there are Apples and Oranges in the mix.

  • Wu Tao goes against Chinese grammar and word structure and its like saying Martial Path backwards "Path Martial" only it sounds even funnier in Chinese.

WuShu is not Martial Sport but literally Martial Art, Wu Yi means the same like Boxing is also called Pugilism. Misconceptions like the term Kung Fu is bad enough, but now Wushu? lol

I remember in the past Sifu's would tell there U.S students put more Kung Fu in!(kung fu=hard work) and they ended up thinking it meant CMA....lol

  • Let us go ahead and look at Chinese Martial Sport.. this is a much more appropriate comparison to MMA, San Shou Or San Da the full contact fighting sport of Chinese Kick Boxing is considered in the world of Martial Sport, one of the toughest stand up fighting styles in the world, or Shuai Chiao the Chinese style of wrestling from which juijutsu was derived from, so yes, for those of you who had not a clue, there is ground fighting in Chinese Martial Styles.

  • @sifushaolin

Wǔshù literally means "martial art". It is formed from the two words 武術: 武 (wǔ), meaning, "martial" or "military", and 術 (shù), which translates into "discipline", "skill" or "method."

I dunno who told you SHU means sport but to any Chinese person we find that funny and...wrong

  • @anhkhoinguyen Thanks for the Chinese grammer lesson, I'll correct that...I'm not Chinese..however I am a Shaolin Martial Art expert. Trained and competed with the Chinese National team on behalf of the United States..won 2 out of three San Shou Matches in 1996 against the PRC National Team...so I still need to brush up on my Chinese but I'll keep teaching Shaolin and San Shou or San Da and Silum Wushu if you prefer..thanks for the comments.

  • @anhkhoinguyen BTW my teacher was the late Madame Wang Jurong.daughter of Wang Zuping..if my credentials are needed.

  • As far as comparing San Shou / San Da to MMA I have been hired many times to coach MMA (professional MMA Fighters) in stand up fighting because the basic punching, kicking and throwing skills because most MMA practitioners are lacking in this area and needed to incorporate a higher level of proficiency which Chinese San Shou / San Da offered. To Sum it up MMA fans there is something else out there that might surprise you and possibly consider changing MMA to MMS to Mixed Martial Sport.

  • This is a good video. His hands are fast. What is the shape of his hands for these strikes ?

  • there in the shape of a white crane's wings as opposed to a tiger claw, dragon claw, eagle claw, leopard fist, etc.

  • It's awesome to know Lloyd from Dumb & Dumber is a Shaolin White Crane Kung Fu expert.

  • I never saw that movie. Do I look like him or something?

  • LOL, from this distance you do look like him, and that hair makes the resemblance UNCANNY! Same haircut :)

It's a great movie, I highly recommend it. One of the funniest movies ever ever ever EVER made!

  • mma is not a gift mma is not even special whats special is the martial arts used to create the mix ;p, hey man i stated in my comment i was jking lol u ppl r taking it to serius hey i like kung fu dont get me wrong i love wing chung, thats my next martial art to start i rly rly want to do wing chung

  • no mma is a big of martial arts :P bjj muay thai anything u want put into one which is allot better then shitty kung fu :) trust me kung fu is useless u have to spend 30 years of ure life to make it usefull and even then kung fu sucks cuz they dont no how to ground fight they have stupid stances that wont work on real mma ppl thats why theres no kung fu faggets in mmaa, im jking:P anyways yeah kung fu is rly good i just wander how they would do in the octigon agents pro mma thats what i wonna c

  • Do you things the octagon its the ultime prove of the martial arts, jaja , go see K1 or any tournament of full contact and then speek , 90% of MMA are BJj and western boxing. In a real fight if you go to the ground you are fucked, becose you never fight white one opponent and speed 10 minuts on a submission. You can go out of a grasp , hit in the eyes , ears , trhoat, genitals or even biting.

  • Let's plz stop all the argument. This isn't a video about which art is better. Thank you.

  • Amen to that!

  • Wow...Very good for a white kid!

  • Anyone can be good regardless of race. Humans can do anything because of our very unique brain.

  • flowing chaddy and apercussionist91 please take ur argument some where else. Thank you. :)

  • It is not the art, but the artist. Why use a martial art that you can't use? For instance Harimou Silat wouldn't be good for a 70 yr old guy. Just like northern crane would be good for people with long limbs. Besides, Thai boxing is ridiculously good, especially if you play by their rules. If you use eye jabs and grappling against a Thai boxer it'd give you an advantage.

  • I know you STWC, and you have disappeared into the Thai night....LOL!! Miss ya Sidei. We are Monday nights at Xeng Hao's, and teach rest of week. Sifu did not contact us this time. Your form was run well, except for some power points, but you already know that. The spirit was the best you have done there! Happy New Year Little Brother.

  • that was good it looked like he understood what he was doin if not fooled me good job

  • I don't know but it looks like you need to slow down on some parts. Some techniques lose meaning when done too fast, especially southern forms. Good job though

  • Now,if you're fighting,do you need to slow down? I think not, especially if its a gang. What he did was that he excels in his force to initiate a powerful whip like a white crane. That,or he's just doing it for show, then its okay to say that he's too fast.

  • He's not fighting he's doing a form. How'd you miss that?

  • Hey listen for a sec. The forms are fighting. They're fighting sequences. You can use all of those moves in a real fight. Forms are good for developing those moves. When doing those forms the best you look like you're fighting someone. It's called having spirit. "How'd you miss that," in your kung-fu lesson?

  • umm do you havew any video of crane fighting ? ive seen only forms but no fighting just like eagle claw except yjp

  • Sorry, but I don't.

  • Nice hands!

  • Hes young. not bad, how did he place?

  • cool, though i think his stance transitioning is off because he doesnt understand the hip movement involved in generating that whip like step in a c-step motion.

  • wow fast hands! nice

  • umm no? lol i just saw this

i;m part of the shaolin lion dance team that performed at that competition

  • lol i performed at that competition lol

  • Who are you? Do I know you?

  • 1000 views!!!!!!!!!!!!

    yes!

  • 500 views. Wooooooot! Keep 'em coming.

  • 600 views!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey come check out my channel if yaw want.

  • check it out!! the white ninja has 2 more videos on You Tube...:)

  • Wow. 344 views already. cool. :)

  • Definitly based on Ba Mei Shou but there are some modifications such as the jumps. Good job & nice speed! Do you also know the original form or do you only train this one?

  • This is the original form Ba Mei Shou, The jump is usually several steps back instead of jumping, other than that this is the original form. Master Yang has toned some of the movements down and that is probably the version you learned, this is how he taught it 20 years ago when I learned it. Casey is 14yrs old but coming along nicely... we also do the other forms San Her, Ya Kew, Double rods and so on..thanks for the nice comments...

  • oh ok. Man! This is almost vexing that Master Yang changed the form. Actually I've never learned it, I've only seen it once done by one of the most advanced students for his test. I'd be curious to see how you perform the other forms!

    Keep going!!

  • Hey sifu. Maybe we can post more forms. Thank yaw for the nice comments.

  • I had asked Master Yang about why he had changed his white crane form which he are one of the last to know and he told me that:

"The Ba Mei Shou performed in the tournament has been added with the other two White Crane sequences, Xiao Yao and Da Yao. I believe whoever did it was becasue Ba Mei Shou is a short sequence.

    Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming"

  • It was Sifu Jeff Bolt who did it. Ask him about it.

  • Well done! What is the name of the Form? Thanks for sharing.

  • it's called Bameso

  • Well done! What is the name of the form? Is it from ancestral crane?

  • thank you

  • nice style. 5 stars
