She was so young and cute...why people are making comments about her singing is beyond me, she was just a child with a child-like voice. Plus singing is not about how loud you can get or how powerful it's about pitch and staying on key.

@mscocacola24241 ..Right..that's why MJ and JJ both were coached by Seth Riggs..one of the best vocal coaches of all time..I think she sounds alot like MJ as a child..the voices are very similar...Janet was just more shy with her delivery..but I respect Janet for having her own singing style and not trying to copy anyone else including MJ..Several of my Videos showcase Janet singing live..Enjoy! :-)
@janetman1 sorry I don't think janet and mj sounded anything alike when they were kids. Mike had a better voice and his was a lot louder and had dynamic.

Janet didn't want to be a singer, but her father Joe *MADE* her start singing as a recording artist. Unfortunately, she didn't find real success until her 3rd album, Control, with Jam/Lewis, who made her get vocal training first. A person can have a pretty voice that's untrained and just not know how to best use it.

I always thought that she could've one day become a hugely successful recording artist with 6 number one albums, 10 number one Billboard Hot 100 hits while also having a successful movie career with 3 movies opening at #1 in the Box Office.
It funny because I have Good Time and Different Strokes on DVD and my nephew (8yo) is in luv with her on Good Times & my son (11yo) is in luv her on Different Strokes (he could have died the frist time he saw her on her frist episode when she came throw the door LOL) they fight over where she looks the best, but both just luv luv her on All 4 U live in Hawii! Its Funny how they debate on it all I say is that the same person. and laugh. I luv Janet since I was 6yo shes the best n the world!
Aww, Janet!! She has the same tone she does now, although it's obviously developed a lot since then. The kid who plays Michael sounds a lot like Janet's brother Jermaine on the early Jackson 5 albums.
I love "Good Times." And I loved Janet on the show as "Penny." Janet is such a great actress, even when she was just a child. The lady is SUPERTALENTED!
Later in this episode Bookman comes out sings. He does like six Dead on impressions. Do you have that?
