I appreciate this tribute to Ms. McGee and I will always miss her film work. She had retired from film long before she passed away, and even though some directors wanted her to come back., she wouldn't. Guess she got tired of the film making game. Rest In Peace Ms. Vonetta McGee, I will always miss you.

I did enjoy this tribute to Vonette Mcgee.She was "before my time" (I am only 20) but my husbands dad was a big fan of hers, and I saw some of her films on videos that he'd collected over the years. I have one problem however with this tribute;why is Mcgee referred to as a "black exploitation star?" There was nothing "exploitive" about her films; Blacula, Shaft in Africa,etc were ACTION films that presented black people as strong, beautiful, and intelligent.

At 7 y.o. I saw her in Malinda, and never forgot her beauty. I had a crush that lasts to this day. Another queen to grace the silver screen, and the world. May she rest in peace, and may her family feel blessed for the time she was here. True class never dies.
