  • You are playing dangerously..

  • You're going to drive the paternoster crazy you guys!!! Lol, i like that, fucking hillarious.

    Where was this filmed?

  • I guess safety was the afterthought of that "trick". I'm just wondering if the motor has enough power to cut someone in half when he\she gets between the floor of the cabin and the top edge of the shaft entrance. You were kinda close to verify that empirically.

  • @InfernoPL88

kidding? it has enough power to move dozens of heavy cabins, sure it has the power.

That's why all the edges are fitted with mechanical sensors, plus a section of the floor in front of the shaft can fold up.

  • @kapufa Please note that the cabins form a chain - cabins going down balance those going up, so the motor does not need so much power. In case of motor failure I bet you could even turn the motor shaft flywheel by hand, because the necessary "power" is provided by a high-ratio reduction gear. If the safety measures you mentioned were missing, it is IMO also possible that it would get blocked (shattering most of the bones but still leaving the body in one piece).

  • @InfernoPL88

it is balanced, but the machine is designed to be able to start up and operate smoothly under such conditions, when all the cabins travelling upwards are full-loaded, and all those travelling downwards are empty. If we calculate only 10 passengers, the lifting force must be at least 7500N, for the 10×75kg. And that is only tha minimal useful lifting force reqired. The real force can not be estimated this way, but it sure must be quite a few times greater than minimally required

  • @InfernoPL88

however, we are just bullshiting theoretically :), since a section of the floor both in the cabin and in the slab is hinged and can fold up, so there is pracically no way to get sliced into two pieces, even if all the safety sensors fail...

  • Paternoster !

  • Moderno este elevador!

  • Damn, why do these people keep posting spams!?!

The messages they post that I obviously fully read didn't worked on me. One time the message goes like I'm going to meet a clown[a criminal] holding a chainsaw beside me at 3:00 pm...So, because of my curiosity, I stayed awake until 3:00 pm and to my surprise I didn't see any dang clown

So to summarize this all up, people shouldn't believe these messages telling that you will experience bad luck in the near future...

  • It really bugs me when people call paternostas lifts. the paternosta is an amazing peie of machinery but its very dangerous if you stay in it after the top floor! you should not abuse them, they are very fragile and the paternosta in sheffield arts tower is only 1 of 2 in the world still for public use!

  • There are more than 2 paternoster lifts in public use. In my country the Parliament House has one.

  • That's rubbish, it's perfectly safe to travel beyond the top and bottom floors. The cabins just move sideways and come back down/up. Also, there are loads of paternosters still in use all over Europe.

  • dude you are totally stupid, it is absolutely not dangerous to ride past the top or bottom, the car simply moves sideways to the other shaft, AND there are over 70 in use today in 14 different countries; most of which are public buildings

  • I am not going to shout at you for being misinformed. You're only human, after all. I can assure you that riding a Paternoster through the top or bottom is completely harmless, unless you jump around or do something stupid like that. I know from experience, since my university building has Paternoster. Not only 1 Paternoster, but *8* of them and the Uni Frankfurt has pledged not to get rid of them because they are so popular. I love them. :) There's lots more in the rest of Germany, too.

  • it's like super mario!

  • Shame theres hardly any paternosters about now. Kinda dangerous jumping into it like that.

  • I agree that the guy was behaving dangerously. That does not make these machines dangerous. People need to take responsibility for their actions. That goes especially for we Americans who want to sue the manufacturers for over our own stupidity. I would say playing baseball is more dangerous than riding these.

  • surprise

  • And one more thing. This is not the last floor of the building. Just ordinary (second) floor with ordinary (third) floor above.

  • AeroScap:

Actually, you are not right. Let me tell you why.

This is not lift at Sheffield arts building. Of course, they work in a same way. Lift goes around over at the top (and at the bottom). But there is one more cabine (at the top or bottom) when you can see two cabines at last floor. So it wouldn't look like this. (You would see one empty cabin after I disappear and just after that I would appear again.)

  • Lift @ sheffield arts building.

The lift is build like a belt and goes around over at the top.

  • That isnt hacking.

The elevator in question is from the arts building in sheffield.

When the lift reaches the top, it moves horizontally for a while then the same "container" moves back down.

    Shame on your wannabes.

  • cool

  • super :)))

  • servis...supisne to je.
