I ride a suzuki 05 gsxr 750. But, I would love to see what the 2012 GSXR1000 and the 2012 Yamaha R1 is going to be... Cause, I will decide and choose for my next bike. I plan on keeping the 750 and make it the official track bike. and use the new 1000 as commuter.

The pipes on the 09 are just too ugly...and they don't sound that great either...if you like deep raw noise ofcourse. I don't want to wake the dead but I DO want to hear what my engine is packin! Plus, being along side a vehicle is always dangerous unless they know your there...noise helps ;] The bike itself is AWESOME

They produce slightly less HP at the rear wheel in aus thanks to our height above sea level. Good track bike more usable power but that ='s boring for the street. And whats with the headlights?? the claimed rwhp is based on the factory tune which doesn't take into account our height above sea level, which affects hp significantly. A power commander and custom tune fixes this though.
@eebags1 Our height above sea level is the same as any other country. Loss of power due to alitude is caused by a lack of oxygen in the atmosphere, but this only comes into effect at about a few thousand feet or more. Also, a power commander will not do anyhting to fix this.
There are thousands of variables and even without them no two bikes are alike. Every bike should be custom tuned down to the very brand of fuel you want to use.
I've tested that bike on a race track... damn, as the gsxr 1000 k9, very hard on the throttle, the response is immediate and brutal! For sure I wasn't used to it (driving a gsxr1000 K7)... but, this on open road? hard to keep the speed limits! :-)
dont get me wrong here guys but yamaha should of named this bike the RR1 (RR1 Meaning Race Ready) or something else since its pretty much a brand new bike from the ground up and left the old R1 alone. thats just my thoughts and if i had the money for any bike this would be the 1 i would go for
I ride a 2007 r1, and I'm partial to yamaha. But if you look at the reviews.. the 09 r1 is at the bottom of the rankings.. I think the new cbr takes the lead in the liter bikes.. and you can definitely tell by riding them.
U.S. spec r1s loose about 6-7 hp because of all the emission crap in it. The euro bike are better, and thats why there in europe the r1 is favored over the the rest unlike here in the U.S.

WSBK is the only place that yam is doing something. Thanks to Mr. Spies! On the street and AMA its some absolute trash. Yes its a sexy bike. But it aint worth the money.
