@lambofreak55 "Pop music" refers to music that isn't classical music. Metal, prog, rap, hip hop, what we call pop, and everything else. The whole referring to the whores of the music industry as pop thing is really new. Poppy tends to mean upbeat and bright, and its really a bastardization. Someone who knows music would have said they don't like upbeat or bright sounding music, which really damns you to an eternity of doom and gloom. Can't always listen to Mayhem, Coheed has to come in sometimes
@Nercrophage Oh I understand now. So pop music, is the music of this generation but you dont like that? What does that have to do with the sound. In 50 years when Coheed isn't pop anymore, are you gonna like it then even though it soudns the same to but its just a different time?
@Nercrophage "Pop music" actually used to refer to popular music (and in a sense it still does) but "pop" as a genre is very real, i.e. synthpop, dreampop, etc. "Referring to whores of the music industry as a pop thing" is not new at all; rather, usage of the word to refer to an actual genre IS relatively new.
@FlowFighter21 dude pop tends to be simple musically if you sat down and tryed to play this on any instrument you find it not poppy in the least its a great piece of music complicated and expressive
this is the first coheed song i ever heard it was like a life changing moment no joke. this is in my opinion the best band out there and claudios probably jesus he just hasnt told us yet
I love the pop ting that many coheed and cambria songs have honestly. Devil in Jersey City and A Favor House Atlantic are two of my favorite songs ever...
Wow. I actually like this song. I looked it up since I'm a huge fan of Al the Sniper or whatever we wanna call him. This song really compliments the Velorium camper series, especially since I understand the story more and more each day. <3
Damn, this was the first song I heard from Coheed and Cambria back in the summer of 2007...I would say it was a perfect time to listen to it...this song really got me into Coheed and Cambria...the second song I heard from them was "Welcome Home" then "Ten Speed(Of God's Blood and Burial) then after that I heard their cover of "The Trooper" and after that, I heard "The Suffering", "Feathers", "The Broken" and many more.
Isn't it funny I could remember all that in order and back from 2007...=)
This song is just as catchy and poppy as Devil in Jersey City, 33, and Blood Red Summer. It sounds like people aren't understanding each song is a part in the grand Amory Wars Saga. Different sounds, tones, and rhythms all reflect different aspects of the story, both emotionally, and tonally. This song comes after of the 3 part "Velorium Camper" overture. It is fast and upbeat because it's a "Shoot-out" scene/heroic last stand of Al the Killer. Think of the songs like a movie soundtrack.
@xxTheHellTriggerxx this is a very poppy band all they're songs are poppy you don't like the word poppy in refrence to pop music cuz it makes you feel gay cuz your dad molested you when you where a kid. listen to analcunt. totally not poplife
@xxTheHellTriggerxx pop music doesn't sound like this, so how do you define pop music? simple chords and simple melody, simple music i bet you couldn't even make pop music neither create something like this song
yes it's up beat and all, but not as simple as pop
easily, cuz ilike most their pother stuff, a favor house almost seems like they through it on there to plz the record company for a single. just like on good apollo vol. 1 the record company want the suffering to be the first singe but coheed wanted welcome home to be it, but the record company won. in case u wonder what im talking u should watch the documentary that came with neverender: children of the fence edition. which btw i own:D
so what if they threw it on the ablum for the record company, that dosen't change the fact that its a GOOD SOUNDING SONG. Seems to me you dislike the song for the wrong reason. Similar to hating someone for the way they look instead of who they are as a person!
@xxTheHellTriggerxx people always need radio play, theyd be just some mixtape local band otherwise.. isnt this one of the songs that got them pretty popular? blood red summer for sure.
@xxTheHellTriggerxx Just to interject, cuz I'm actually sorta with both sides on this, as in i'm not into poppy stuff, but I still actually like this song, and their others. I think of it this way: It helps their progressive-ness, ya know? lol. In the sense that their entire compositions are made up of musical progressions that span multiple styles and inspire different feelings, when put all together [like when you listen to their albums all the way through :)] makes it one big prog masterpiece
@gaara1546 Blood Red Summer was my introduction (PsP lol)
But I told my friend about the song and he went nutso and was all like "DUDE, I FREAKING LOVE COHEED AND CAMBRIA"
He then showed me a bunch of their other stuff. I was pretty amazed. That summer I had to change states but I just so happened to find the Special Edition of SSTB. Well I had no money and my friend (adifferent one) bought it for me. I forgot about them until recently then I went to see them live and I am in love again lol.
@cooksey129 DUDE!!! How do you forget about these guys? They are like one of the best bands in the world. Eventhough I dont own one of their albums, I still like LOVE them. And Im glad you got back into them, your friend is nice for buying you that CD
I was playing this song when i was playing Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter on my 360, and was doing the full on sniper mission. It was halirous. I synced atleast 7 headshots with this song
I disagree. I really enjoy this song, sure it's not their strongest, but I enjoy it. Acoustically however the song is a complete experience on it's own. It sound amazing.
@RaxielTheBlackTerror Being a fan doesn't mean liking every song, it's that kind of narrow mindedness that illustrates how little perspective you have. The bigger the fan you are of an artist, the bigger the right you have to criticise their work, as you will have more knowledge and understandings of their capabilities and their work. Disliking a song doesn't make you a hater, so quit your hating!
pop music as a genre isnt bad, its just a majority of pop artists suck

I personally love their more pop-ish sounding songs (but not nearly as much as the hard-core stuff).

I dont think about music style. I think about what the sound must represent in the story. Makes them all just as great to me.
