@bilvers It was originally in A (the dominant of the key to the orchestral suites the air is from). Although temperament wasn't established then, so it could have been Ab back in the day. For me, the choice of key is really important as they create a variety of emotions, places, colours and ideas. It does not sound good in F# major-the low Ebs of the guitar are too dark sounding in my opinion. Not to mention the crap he's composed to accompany his bastardisation of the gorgeous walking bassline.

What Malmsteen just played in this video was not Air by J.S Bach ( yeah it's not even called Air on the G string) What was played in this video was one voice of Air by J.S Bach followed by some Malmsteen improvisation that does not reassemble anything that Bach wrote. What Sungha Jung played was the actual transcription. You are not entitled to make false remarks dumbass, piss of and learn how to read music.
