These guys had a great life until cancer came and ruined everything. I guess they can be thankful for the nearly 2 decades they had together reviewing and writing about film.
@fuck192ass And maybe Tarantino wouldn't have cheapened the Dusty Springfield song in the scene in the diner. Madsen taking this minor part in this forgettable movie bought Travolta his 747.
That f'd up movie is what Michael Madson did instead of the "Vincent Vega" role(Tarantino wanted Madson not Travolta) in Pulp Fiction. Goodbye major stardom.
Roger Ebert is such a fucking joke. He's representative of the typical, pedesrian moviegoer who needs to have everything spelled out for him. "We don't know who Baldwin and Basinger are...the movie just starts with them already there and it is not explained who they are and their history,etc"....Dude, just fill in the blanks with your own imagination, not everything needs to be spelled out like we're a bunch of simpletons. Lord knows there's enough of that in movies already.
That's a valid point. Movie critics don't routinely review films from the leyman's pov. But consider this: A newspaper/tv show could only really hire someone w/either a Journalism background/education or someone highly educated in the area of film. This is necessary because some complex films reference obscure shit and/or Shakespear that most of us (incl me) wouldn't know, so inherently they're reviewing from a level that we're not @ cause we're WATCHING the movie, & not reviewing it.

I remember watching Blank Check as an eight-year-old and being terribly, hopelessly bored. Now I know why. It wasn't made for eight-year-old kids.
