  • I thought Alan said 'has a fuck', lol

  • "They're now wearing only loincloths!"

  • I really love the idea of the Queen herself going to Stephen Fry's house to decorate his tree

  • Why do they watch Stephen Fry on christmas day?

  • He said "has a shit" ... "had a wank" would make it very different ...

  • I am pretty sure he said "has a shit" I have seen it

  • Comment removed

  • Even in August this is HILARIOUS! =D

  • I want Stephen to decorate my Christmas tree.

  • In future I shall direct all curious Americans to this clip to show our subservient respect for our ruling Monarchy.

  • Every one in Britain...sry UK.....should yell loud and long at Canada (me) and USA about our/their censorship drives me up the wall...

It makes me a conservative over here because I fell I can decide what I want to watch.

Canada has the Canadian Radio and Television Commission..censorship and tel com Nazis.

  • Merry Christmas :)

  • @cyanman123 And you :)

  • I want Alan and Stephen to be locked in the same room for a week with a general knowledge book.

  • Stephen is so sweet when he says "to watch... ME!!!"

    :)

  • Really hate the americanized censorship.....what the hell did Allen say at the start?

  • @Ghehana "Alan: Has a wank." There's a site with the transcripts, google it ;)

  • @HUNDOLOS Oh God....I thought he said "Has a shit". Which would have made some sense after a meal. But Alan's explanation makes it worse. Gah!!!!

  • @snipergirl21 Yeah, he definitely says "wank". You can just hear the W if you listen carefully.

  • @HUNDOLOS @Ghehana Nooo... it's "Has a shit". I've got it on DVD.

  • @HUNDOLOS sure its not a shit

  • @Ghehana I can't be Americanized censorship because QI has never aired in the US. Sorry, but it's BRITISH censorship you really hate. ;]

  • @ThaMahstah when this is on tv its not censored i don't know why they did it here

  • @Ghehana

    "Has a shit..."

  • @Ghehana probably 'have a sh%t'

  • Jo Brand is on fire in this one

  • No do it out in the garden lol

  • I love how Rich Hall just stays tactfully silent throughout :)

  • YEAH THE TWININGS JOKE LOL

  • "Do they?!"

    "What, your tree?"

"No, because they're all fucking German."

Those three lines had me cracking up royally.

  • Sorry but I don,t get the "old german" joke, can anybody enlighten me?

  • the "all f#*king germans" joke would be referring to the fact that the royal family is german and that i would assume that they open presents christmas eve

  • I know i sound like an idiot, but the royal family is german? really?

  • I'm not British, so sorry if you mind me answering, but I guess they're descendants of Germans, because certainly aren't German in the literal sense of the word (speaking German etc. :P)

  • House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was the name before they changed their name in WWI

  • is this true or are we protest and Go and put them in the hollocaust

  • @kurooneko They're from the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, with their name being changed to Windsor in 1917... So, they don't have a German name anymore, but they are technically descendants of a German dynasty...

  • @norwaytoday

I always found it ironic....invaded and conquered twice by france, and they have a german king....

  • @00Billy Greek, actually.

  • @ponytailguy

I concede your point.......invaded and conquered twice by france, and they have a half greek half german queen....

-noticed the king instead of Queen...too...bad day..lol

  • The tits apron set me off, and the rest of the video had me in tears, gasping for air, and shouting at every joke. One of the funniest things I've ever seen.

  • They're all fucking Germans!

  • I agree. Although I don't think the royal family deserves to be "strangled with the entrails of the last priest", I see no real function for the royal family now, or in the future, beside perhaps being a form of ambassador for their country. But I still don't like how they are given this status just because of the random lottery of who you are born to.

It's just a weird and old thing that should have died away with other weird and old things. Kings don't serve the same function as before.

  • before you start composing a reply i would just like to mention that i am Australian and in favour of republics etc. however, as a historian i am also mindful that monarchies do serve a function. they are the centre of a countries identity (whether you like them or not) and in the case of england, they can fulfill this purpose as figureheads as the governmental structure prevents them from obtaining sole power. i think that most people respond to symbols and monarchies are potent symbols

  • You can have your opinion but I think it's wrong to think that there is no function for them!

The Queen can also play a major role in politics than we think! Watch the video on YouTube - "Power & Glory of the British Monarchy." Just go to my channel and you will find it!

In addition to a monarch's constitutional duties, The King/Queen and the royal family all have an important role to play in public. As a national figurehead, the monarch and its royal family provides a focus for identity..

  • ......offers recognition of achievement of all kinds, and supports the ideals of public and charitable work. For example, Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, acts as a focus for national unity and pride by means of regular visits in the UK, her other realms, the Commonwealth and overseas destinations. The Queen is supported by other members of the Royal Family, who also carry out thousands of visits each year..............

  • ...The Queen recognises excellence and achievement. This takes place in many ways: through Royal visits which provide a 'seal of approval' to a charity or community; through the award of honours and prizes to outstanding individuals; and through messages sent to those celebrating special birthdays or wedding anniversaries. The Queen and the Royal Family also play an important part in the public and voluntary sector..................

  • ...sector. Through involvement with hundreds of charities, military units and other organisations, they promote the ideal of service to others. The British monarchy is a system of government in which a hereditary monarch is the sovereign of the United Kingdom and its overseas territories, and holds the now constitutional position of head of state. According to convention, the Queen's powers are exercised upon the advice of her prime minister..............

  • ...... She does however possess certain reserve powers which she may exercise at her own discretion. In practice, political power is exercised today through Parliament and by the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

As Thatcher once said, "I believe that the royal family are a focus of patriotism, of loyalty, of affection and of esteem. That is a rare combination, and we should value it highly."

  • Of course one rat is acceptable so long as you keep the other rats out. The Queen keeps out the silly "President for Life" nonsense that is common around the world.

  • Is it that common?

  • It happened in the US with Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Venezuala has its nutball today. Honduras had a recent constitutional crisis over the removal of a Pres for Life Wanna-be. In Russia, Putin is showing all the signs of sticking around past his term limits by filling another job. China has for long had death as the main driver of its presidential succession program. North Korea has an inherited communist dictatorship, not visibly different from monarchy in its results.

  • Well, you can't call China or North Korea a democracy, so saying that isn't entirely fair and on level grounds. Not to mention Russia or Venezuela are just democracy-ish, as far as I know... I can be wrong, of course. Besides, what I meant that there are many countries around the world, I don't think you can call it "common."

  • I suppose I could go into Bylorussia, a few of the "stan" countries to pump up my numbers. More historical examples would include Juan Peron of Argentina, Franco of Spain, Allende in Chile. As for not being democracies, that is the point, countries where the self made strongman takes over moves away from being a democracy, and a constitutional monarcy has that one more guard against tyranny.

  • Sorry DonMeaker, but no matter what he's currently doing, Chavez is a democratically elected president. During the most recent military coup, the poor swarmed down from the barrios and demanded the return of Chavez. For all that I'm not a major fan, you should see the difference he has made for poor people. That plus the fact that he's bent on ridding Venezuela of American imperialism, he's actually pretty smart for all his faults.

  • @DonMeaker Without agreeing with either of you, do stop it; your style makes me sick.

  • @HUNDOLOS I hope you certainly get better.

  • @DonMeaker absolutely right - thank the Almighty someone has sense!!!

  • wank, he said wank

  • Thought it was fuck

  • Lawl. What was wrong with my comment? You don't aggree with my Socialist views? Sorry if you do. Can I add that I love this still.

  • I don't know about other people, but I (being a Hungarian) didn't think I should say anything about the UK becoming a republic, you see :P But even if you're only not wishing someone well, I think you shouldn't be surprised if you get lots of thumbs down...

  • (continued) shit out anyway.

  • I think he says 'has a wank', apart from anything else it sounds like that even with the bleep, you can pick out the 'w' athte beginning and the 'k' at the end. They never bleep the word

  • actually it's have a shit, Alan said in an interview about it

  • Yesterday, I was watching an interview of the guy who's in Mock the Week. He said that "The reason we, britishers, make fun of Royals is because we love them" Does any British agree with that???

  • I am asking this question because this is con - monarchy video and still one guy who said "Britain for republic" end up with -6

  • We have a love-hate ralationship with them ^^

  • as an indian observing this phenomenon, might i say that having the royal family is like having a national reality version of some soap opera... which probably explains the love-hate relationship

  • That pritty much sums it up there, we would all miss them if they ever went.

  • I love how Alan and Jo just don't give up and continually comment through the whole thing. :D

  • ty for uploading this i love this part =)

  • We have that brand of tea here in the USA but sadly I've never seen a USA Stephen Fry commercial. It's a major brand, or I'd say the major tea brand here if you want Earl Grey (otherwise all Americas know is Lipton for the most part). I wish They'd release QI over here. Thanks for the vid!

  • What does she say at 1:28? Please explain, as I am a silly Yank. Does she ask: "is it twinings?" What's that?

  • Hey, "silly Yank", here I am, the extremely competent Hungarian, to explain XD Twinings is a brand of tea (I hope this is a definition proper enough for any British here :P) and the whole point is that Stephen Fry did some commercials for Twinings (you can find them here), so I guess it's just a little joke played on him :P Hope I could be of help...

  • Wonderful! Thank you so very much!

  • What does alan say she does?

  • Has a wank...

  • Has a shit! Lol! I saw the uncensored version...

  • I didnt think it made sense that he has a wank after dinner!!!

  • Well, since it's impossible to tell because of that beep, I looked it up at a website with transcripts of Qi. Of course, they may be wrong...

  • With a gun! HAH! Many many lols!

  • This is one of my favourite pieces from QI. Thanks Hundolos!

  • Awesome clip! QI is bloody brilliant.

  • "nooo. because they're all fucking German."

    that was AMAZING!

  • you like QI Hundolos? cool

  • Actually, I uploaded this part because there was no easier way to show it to my friend (believe me, there wasn't :P). And yes, I love it! In this, my favourite is 0:53-1:05, where Alan Davies goes: "Huh-hoooo!" :D

  • nice, good choice of TV program
