@craniumkazzo Actually they are called shingles, and they are tank barricades. They make it hard for tanks to maneuver and can break or jam the tank treads.
@craniumkazzo No, they were metal 'hedgehogs' as the rangers called them. They were designed by the Germans to damage and scuttle the bottoms of the allies landing crafts and small boats as they came ashore during mid to high-tides. The Germans attached large mines on top of them to increase damage further as well.
the big metal "x's" are called hedgehogs. they were put there by the germans to stop tanks from gettin to omaha. we wouldve lost so many guys on omaha if we got tanks up there
ok i know a lot on D-DAY thata did not happen the allies had 2,500 casualties they werent all taken outlike that but a lot where

in a way the metal cross things were good and bad because they blocked the boats but they gave the U.S. cover to win D-DAY

Those were for clearing mines on the beach. They were dropped via Airplane I think.

@craniumkazzo
The big metal Cross whingy was made to slow-down tanks or even blocking them, because of the structure it was impossible to drive over them.

wendygailgregory 2 years ago
@MrRustyCrow they're nothing to do with mines - the germans put them on the beaches to stop tanks getting up the beaches.
ampthilluk 1 year ago
@MrRustyCrow Em it was for 2 purpose i thing sorry for grammar
1) during high tide it would damage boats moving around the beach
2) during low tide it would block tanks and therefore making them slower
GreenFilmAminsion 1 year ago
@MrRustyCrow on barricade the boats can't get through that
