I think that part of what makes him look so great in this whole thing is his posture.  He's pulled up exactly 100% of the time. My 12-year old, who also dances, gushes over Gene. I tell her to keep an eye on his torso, too, so that she notices his pull-up.

The entire scene was done really well. Gene did all the choreography and he did all types of different dancing that I really hadn't seen that much of from him. Most of his films and I have seen a lot of them have been mostly him doing tap. It was interesting for me to see him delve more into his artistic side.

who did the choreography on this dance, him? foch was supposed to, wasn't she? does anyone else think that it is sort of a strange move at the end when he makes the transition from the kicks and put his left hand on his thigh before getting upright again, dancing with the ladies, does it seem to break the rhythm in it for anyone, like it would have been more flowing to touch his beret, see, i need to go back in time and visit! but such a long take, no break, and that is really athleticism . wow.

In American in Paris, there is a wonderful ballet that Gene does, I don't think it is with Leslie Caron but I'm not sure. It is very beautiful and very stylized. Does anybody know which one I mean, and has anyone seen it posted on line? I don't have the equipment to upload, but I would really love to see it on line so others can appreciate.

To me, it was all in his thighs and calves. So strong and powerful. Why he would want Astaire's skinny little body, I don't know (I don't think Fred would look that great in those tights.) Gene looked pretty perfect to me. Watch the scene in Anchors Away where Gene's chasing Sinatra while in his boxer shorts. Hubba hubba.

Gene once compared himself to Fred Astaire, saying that he wished he could be so thin and so smooth, but that he was built like a blocking tackle! lol Hey, he might have been short and solid, but that athletic, gorgeous body looks great to me and I have been a huge fan of his fabulous bottom since I was a teen (I'm 43 now).
