my strategy in this Mutation is "Run and Shoot."

No time for healing, use pain pills and adrenaline shots. Use med kits inside the safe house. if you are low in ammo, use melee weapons.

This mutation makes the game seem more like an actual zombie apocalypse. No "mutants", and you immedately die if you take too much damage. Except for the never ending horde part.
