  • hardest game ever, with the scoring ^^

  • I'm cunfoozdid...

  • im...er...um...whats the word...HOLY SHIT!

  • Looks like a TAS, but I don't care, this is still badass.

  • @NiceHotCupOfBro It isnt!

  • My mouth was hanging open after about the 1st minute. Then after it ended, I stared at the screen for about 3 minutes, then realized it was over.

  • touhou without little girls?

  • Thumbs up if you hate or dislike the changes YouTube made

  • taringa.net/posts/downloads/8823698/Ikaruga-Dreamcast-PC-Portable-_28-Mb_.html

  • what shield is everyone talking about? that sphere around the ikaruga is not by any means a shield...this player simply never got hit by any bullets of the opposite color!

  • Nice video from ikaruga.co.uk.........i can't do the same playing this fantastic game in my keyboard :(

  • I never had that shield in the Dreamcast!?!? WTF!?!?

  • this literally divours everything that comes on screen

  • How did he get that shield. I have the game for my dream cast and i dont have a shield

  • Producer: What kind of game is this?

Developer: It's ... kinda like Gradius... but like 1942.

Producer: I think we're done here.

Developer: No no! Let us just show you the first level.

    Producer: *raised eyebrow*

    The rest was history.

  • I came...

  • holly shit mmm i can download free on my pc ?? this game was be make it to game cube?

  • @abraxas267 Yes you can download, using a dreamcast´s emulator

  • 2:24 By the power of Grayskull lol

  • I've read the reviews of this game. Apparently it's really impossible, but after you use at least 100 hours of your life, you can do this. Because you know exactly where each enemy is coming. And no. You don't automatically change colors to absorb.

  • do u automatically change the color of ur ship to abosrb the bullets to earn points or u hav 2 press a button

  • The soundtrack? Just KICKASS!

  • god, incredible

  • :20-:21

he controls the uber-lasers with his mind...

  • HORY SHET!!

  • 134 chains....my god....

  • your the dude..

  • Shit what rank did you get? A+ or S?

  • Bravo!

  • this game on wiiware WILL get so many downloads.........i wish it would happen XD

  • @randommoosebrains Atleast we Xbox players got it ;) Haha but hey, just buy it for gamecube you can also play it on your wii :)

  • @Awesome1601 I got an xbox, and i am thinking of getting it too

  • HTF?!?!

  • Christ, I don't even know what half of that stuff you did even was!!

  • This game was fucking epic man

  • 1:42. Oh god, that was absurd.

  • they should make this thing for Wii, along with Jet Grind Radio and Rez! Wouldnt that be possible on WiiWare???

Either way Jet Grind Radio DEFINITELY deserves a MotionPlus-supported sequel!

  • GC games shouldn't be on wiiware.

  • I can chain this whole level... but I think I was lucky to get a 55 chain. Now watch guys like this chain the later levels... its insane! oh and learning to chain just this Stage took me sooo much practice.

  • Aaaaah....Hhhhaaah....*shudder* Makes it look easy....

  • actually radiant silvergun is harder because in ikaruga all you have to do is match the color bullets depending on your barrier color.

  • @masterkill107 hahaha....that's easier said than done when you get to level 4-5...

  • .....HE CHAINS THE WHOLE TIME!

    Q.Q I feel so insignificant...

  • Wow, how very strange.. I was rescued from a place named Ikaruga.

  • Oh god, such fond memories of this game. I used to have it on the GC (Until I stupidly sold it), and I had loads of fun with it.

I have to say, Ikaruga is my best Shump game ever played. ^^

  • Wth this is on gamecube??

I cant believe it the graphics rule in HD

  • @Imperia96 Well, the game was by Treasure, after all.

  • this is the dreamcast

  • nm it was GC

  • Could some one help me? I'm looking for a game that is similar to this game play but older like in a 16 bit style. I cannot remember the name but it started with the letter "R" and it had the roman numeral "II"

I asks this because I used to play this type of game with my father when we used to go bowling. They got rid of it before I wrote down the name.

  • R-Type 2, maybe?

  • they got rid of it because u wrote the name down, how the hell does that work?

  • Its probably the Raiden Games! I had those games in my bowlodrome too

  • Dear God , Thats it! Thank you so much sir. ^_^ I've been looking for that game for a long time. Thank you.

  • I think you're looking for something named R-Type?

  • Are you definate it starts with R? you could try Darius/Gradius on the Snes/Nes

  • @MrMegaman690

You mean Radiant Silvergun? Coming to XBLA next year btw.

  • Trying to find ikaruga players. I've done a Chapter 1 Dot Eater run through that ranked 87th on xbox live. I think it's a good non-superhuman run through, but how can i improve it? Check my watch?v=ja4HMLe1i2g

  • The CHAIN counter doesnt appear on my screen, why??????

  • go to options and it will ask you in the video settings if you want it on

  • WOW ur crazy good. Very Impressive.

  • Holy shit how many systems is this game for?

Dreamcast, Genesis, GC, DS, Xbox 360?

    HOW MANY MORE O_O

  • This isn't on Genesis or DS. \:|

  • Ikaruga on Genesis and DS?

    I freaking wish.

  • It's on the Dreamcast, the Gamecube, and X-Box Live Arcade.

  • Treasure...as always legendary

  • This is a rare game for game cube. same w/ skies of arcadia.

  • That boss was cool looking

  • Or a game of reaction and reflex.

  • lol that's a good one!

  • Holy. Shit.

  • Thinking of Dusting off my Dreamcast just to play this again.

  • absolutely amazing

  • Ikaruga

    It doesn't pwn for gameplay

It pwns for it's music and it's visuals..

    but the point is..

    IKARUGA KICKED ASS!

  • I knew a guy who had this. Took him a few weeks to actually beat it on EASY and he was a pretty good gamer. There are only like 5 levels. Put this shit on hard and you can forget it. Fun as hell though.

  • 1:39 - 1:43

    Pure badassery

  • Nice terminology Monodi91,

    I like that part too.

  • please tell me this is a TOS.

  • Fuckin amazing stuff. Gamers who master this are like zen-gamers. Hardcore!

  • I don't get how this works at all... but I still want it.

  • Mad skills, man... Wish I could get this good at this... or any game.

  • HOLY SHIT

  • @henryyydarkkk

I think you speak for must of us here.

  • What was his rank? S?

  • vvv NOOB

  • OMG that music! It's... it's... mecha birdo!

  • its her brother comming for revenge

  • I loved this game.. it reminds me of r-type

  • ive played games like this before but this one confuses me. arent you supposed to be dodging the attacks? and why does the ship keep changeing?

  • You change color to be able to absorb one color of energy or defeat enemies with a different color of Energy.

  • That is the ICONIC switch system in this game. It permitted you to absorb attacks and use the power to launch your super attack. It was also the games BIGGEST double-edged sword. You still had to dodge like crazy, cause if the wrong colored attack hit you, you were toast!

  • I think you change colors to absorb attack, you turn dark to absorb dark attacks and vise versa

  • its funny how most of the bosses only take like a minute to kill lol. sweet game =D

  • Hmm have we even seen u at the World Cyber Gamers or Game Kings?

  • those bad dudes just got schooled

  • holy fucking shit!

  • Good lord... All those chains! 0___0

  • Agreed.

    Sheer perfection...

  • Man, the most I ever got in the little prologue to Chapter 1 was around 380,000. After that I totally botch it, mostly because I try to play too aggressive and try to get quick kills as opposed to building up my super meter.

  • very nice dude!

  • Man, Treasure is a master when it comes to innovation.

I also suggest Panzer Dragoon Orta. It's an old game, but it's LOADS of fun. And it works on 360.

Note: Panzer Dragoon Orta is made by Smilebit, not Treasure.

  • the demo is tough but the full game is insane

  • JESUS CHRIST

  • extrak

  • Good thing I'm DLing it right now. Looks wicked sick, better than Touhou.

  • Not a bad game.

But is a joke compare to Mushihimesama

  • holy shit Mushihimesama is nearly unfair

  • lol complete ownage. I got this game several hours ago and you just prove how much i suck lol

  • You can purchase it on xbox live arcade. I was floored to see it there the other night. its 1200 points, thats less than 15$.

  • 1200 points? I bought it 3 months ago, it was 800 points

  • You are officially my new god. Unbelievable.

  • for christmas i'm undecided about buying ikaruga for gamecube or Metal Slug Anthology for Wii. Any suggestions?

  • well i have rented Metal Slug for wii and while its fun it does get tiring after a while but if your a run and gun type of guy then go for it. oh and u cant use classic controller on metal slug only wiimote nunchuck and GC controller, and usin the GC controller is fine it only allows u to use analog stick NO Dpad which was disappointing. but its ur decsion. IKARUGA FTW!

  • thank you so much for your answer! and another thing: is ikaruga a short game? thanks again!

  • it has 5 lvls which is pretty short to most people but is a challenge to be reckoned with, very good shooter and overall if you are a point junkie then this one will last you, and Co-op OH YEAH!

  • Nope...5 chapters...And you will die and die and die and die and die and die and..DIE! ^^

  • EVEN IF YOU WIN YOU DIE

  • hahahahahahaha

  • So true, but why in the final chapter you die when you win?

  • Suicide attack to kill the final boss.

The ship's weapons overload, and both the final boss and the Ikaruga explode.

The world is saved, and the pilot ascends to a higher plane of existance.

Yes, this game has very strong spiritual overtones.

  • thank you.

thank you for ruining the ending for me.

  • It's been atleast a fucking year.

    You've had your chance.

  • I got the game about three weeks ago, you tool

  • lol, why were you watching the video then?

  • How ever will you be able to enjoy this non-story-based game in full knowledge of which cliche ending it has?

  • Once you mastered Ikaruga you can finish it in 25 minutes. But damn The replay value is one of the biggest, Im receiving my xbox this week from the RROD and forget about Halo or gears of war I WANT TO PLAY MY IKARUGA :D

  • 1:40 OMFG LOL

  • 1:40 was fucking RIDICULOUS. You're seriously Jesus at this game.

  • It just takes practice! That zig zag is one of the first bits of chapter 1 that takes some time to learn. Most of the chapter from that point on is actually a lot harder to do!

  • Haha I'm sure you've played through this countless times. You obviously know the entire level as it comes through haha. You really show how the developers intended the level to have been ideally played by chaining the entire thing.

  • gotta love the way how every thing slows down when the boss blows up one of the best games for the dream cast.

  • One of the best I've played on Gamecube and one of the most imposible to get

  • Imposible to get???

I am downloading a ISO of this game right now!

    Do you want the links?

  • Those would be nice thank you very much, but what I meant was, that on the console was imposible to get. And the 2nd best way to enjoy this game is on GC and the first is with a arcade Joystick

  • he's probably talkin about the retail version..

  • ....wow...wow..

  • This is really great.

  • This game was originally released on Sega Dreamcast not on Gamecube.

  • Actually it was originally released on Sega's NAOMI system.

  • i'm talking about the original release on a console, because below there was a comment that the original version was on gamecube. NAOMI is obviously not a console but else a Arcade Machine like the name "New Arcade Operation Machine Idea" but you should probably know that. :)

  • Hmm... 71 secs is my best boss time for that level...

  • I...want...this..game!!!

  • Ok, I'm trying to hone my skills at the moment, but I can't get my head around how at 0.20m only the black guys get shot by the homing lasers. I've tried it like 30 times allready and those white bastards get shot as well and I always miss some of the black ones! aaargh, terrible game :P (is this done with the pal or NTSC version of the game?)

  • It looks to me like the NTSC-J version, because the homing laser can actually hit the boss, and not just his satellites, and the Japanese monologue is still there at the end of 1-1.

  • Hmm, I have the PAL version and yo can hit the boss with the homing laser, and if i remember correctly the text was in japanese as well.

  • That was supposed to be a reply to malik11000, don't know why this always happens to me.

  • Btw: Holy shit, now I know how to get to the S++ rank, damn, mad props man, haha, this is what Ikaruga is all about. Ranking up that score to inhuman hights!!!

  • man this game rocks. i heard a lot of praise about the original gamecube version (which sadly was never released here in australia) so was excited to hear its on xbox live arcade :)

  • Damn!!!!! I Just started playing this game and that is just ridiculous!! Well played indeed.

  • i just got this game and wow was my mind blown. i really need to figure out all of the rules for it. This guy has "clearly" played this game a lot.

  • Oh. My. God.

I have to get this game!

  • you can get it for 10$ in the Xbox360 version

  • you sure do

    its a great game.

  • butsutekkai for the win! one of the greatest boss tracks ever (and yes, i first heared it in i wanna be the guy...)

  • My goodness, the stupidity of these fanboys, it's ridiculous. Real gamers enjoy games and don't bash other genres, and real men sure as hell aren't insecure enough to start spouting off insults at a whim.

  • This game is one of the evidences where video game is art. Not just a platform for other form arts but purely game itself.

  • I second that!

  • try the hard level and then do another video. In this level of difficulty ,it's a bit to easy

  • I have to call fugazi on this.

  • omg how can they think and react that fast

  • practice. you would be surprised how good you can get at this game if you play it for *cough* about 6 hours straight. it's that fun.

  • Reacting has nothing to do with it. Games like this and the Raiden series are all pattern memorization. They know exactly when and where the next enemy is going to pop out.

  • i never said anything about reacting, that was azn8o8 who said that. but you're right, it's all memorization. i don't know a single person who could beat this game for the first time on Hard through a sight thread (first time playing). it takes practice to learn the best route and polarity changes.

  • Not always true. Thats how most people do it. But then again it is not impossible for this to be played like this with just fast reactions and no memorization. Just depends on the person. Someone with ultra reactions could most deffenitly play like this without remembering it.

  • Yea, playing through level 1 and 2 is just a natural flow that is so easy to remember the patterns and chain things(I get A++s then B++s), but then it gets a little more complicated. Im stuck on chapter 4 now and rather than memorize the patterns i have found it easier to just focus on surviving and putting the points second. Executing those patterns perfectly involves so much polarity changing and high risk maneuvers that it makes me wonder if learning it would be worth it.

  • I swear I heard this song from another game, but I can't remember which. It might be a megaman game... but I just know I heard this elsewhere.

  • you mean the newgrounds crossover game of IKARUGA and megaman? That how I found out about this game.

  • I've got this for the Dreamcast and recently picked up a used 21" CRT TV just so I could play it with the TV turned cocktail (I don't trust turning my new TV upright).

  • Damn, this guy beat Buppousou 9 seconds faster than I can manage =|

  • I got this game on Xbox Live and hooked it up with a VGA cable to my 20" LCD monitor, which rotates 90 degrees. Very cool, although hooking up the audio was problematic.

  • i bought this game today, freaking crazy hard. cant make it more than a C+, let alone S++ as he had.

  • wow. that was freakin ridiculous haha dang... that fool's good. wow..

  • This looks cool, but a crazy difficult :) I wish I'd bought it back when I had the chance. Ah well.

  • This looks awesome! That preformance was also beautifully done well.

Too bad it doesn't have a PS2 version however...

oh well, nice to see others having fun with it!

PS: Try playing Soul Calibur 3 while listening

to this mystic soundtrack... woo, creepy and

    coolness entwined!

  • i can never do that string of chains at 1:20, i always do a few and leave the rest to preserve the chains.

  • how is it pronounced? E-ca-rooga? or I-ca-rooga?

  • EE-kah-roo-ga
