Guys, understand that Proton Jon didn't do anything wrong by telling the viewers of his video to play the rom hack! He gave the link to the hack and the tools which are needed to play the game for those who wanted to try it! He didn't force the viewers to play the game, he just gave an opportunity for those who are interested in the hack to play it and see what's it all about! @903someone I see what you're saying. I think the problem is all the "retsupurae-able" videos that spawned as a result. The problem isn't that he offered the chance to play the game, I think the issue is in the video responses that were of much lower quality.

Great video I subed, now I have had an idea make a walkthrough as a response to Protonjons video but this time done I promise because I have done lots of walkthrough video check them out it would really make me happy
The only point I have to make about all this is that people have been posting shitty videos on Youtube long before ProtonJon invited a bunch of amateurs to make their own videos.

Oh, I laughed heartily at the end with Les parodying Jon. And the sad thing is, that'll probably inspire people to play Kaizo Mario World like they did Super Mario TKO.
Sadly, I used to be that kid. I used to film with my camera and give shit commentary. I finnaly caught myself and waited till I had good internet(for high quality) and got better at commentary. Oh ya, and got a capture card:P
I would love to do lets plays, but after seeing this video, I will wait until I can at least get some proper equipment. This video has less to do with Proton Jon and more to do with the fact that not everyone should make LPs. Also, I think that this was a bad move by Proton Jon, but I still like several of his videos.
@Dom270385 A standard PC or laptop does it's job. However, thing is, those LPers that are somewhat succesful are a bit more experienced players who are a bit older. They therefore have not only a lower voice, but also are often fairly better at commenting. Even if ProtonJonSA wouldn't have opened this challenge, children would still try to imitate LPs. But it's of course true what LesBeardly said, if you are not going to respond to your fans' comments, don't open a challenge

The thing is....... you don't have to watch the videos if you don't want to..... so why do any of these terrible romhack vids matter to you? I'm not "flaming" you but why does it matter really? I mean you're not that good considering I haven't heard about you and I'm pretty sure at the beginning you didn't have the best quality and production standards as you have now. Again not trying to be a dick, Protonjon may have screwed up but you screwed up even worse.
There's no excuse for an LPer in the modern era of let's playing to make a low production video. There's so much knowledge available. And really, if you're going to tackle something, you should research it at least. Even looking at a video, you should be able to know if something you have is of acceptable quality.

The people who posted "old LP's" were the ones who created the format - yeah, they were experimenting, but they solidified it. If you're going to LP a game, look to see if anyone else has done it first. "Don't like, don't watch" doesn't matter - they suck either way.

Why do so many get hung up on the Asperger syndrome? First of all LesBeardly isn't making fun of him, he simply says he thinks the video is of bad quality. Secondly many people with Asperger don't like to be treated as handicapped. Everyone's different. I agree that it's not nice to make fun of the syndrome itself, because they can't do anything about that. But saying you can't say anything negative about them because they're different is very denigrating. It only makes things worse.

This video makes me want to make a ‘let's play’ parody where I show off my new shoes, eat crisps while swearing at my keyboard, pause the game for 15 minutes to take a crap (while you hear me taking it), give a half hour explanation on the technical details why the recording is so crappy, have my mom call me for dinner, load a save state over and over only to die 100 times the exact same way and when I finally succeed say "That was too easy!".

@SourJovis videos like these can be good, look up luizprower. he does camcorder lps but i find them good and entertaining. there used to be someone else called bpblu who was like luiz but...well he isn't around anymore. but yea, there are entertaining camcorder, and what i'd call, "good, bad" lps.
@dewybmt Actually luizprower and bpblu fall (fell...) into a category lps I'm not too fond of. It's lofi alright, but these people are too funny of themselves to make fun of. Still the concentration of jokes is not high enough to watch entire videos. I like lps better if they don't try to be funny but are so bad that they are (like the ones mentioned in this video), if they’re hilariously over the top (SirRonLionHeart), or if they're serious and high quality (LesBeardly and HCBailly).

I would love to do lets plays, but after seeing this video, I will wait until I can at least get some proper equipment. This video has less to do with Proton Jon and more to do with the fact that not everyone should make LPs. Also, I think that this was a bad move by Proton Jon, but I still like several of his videos.

@Dom270385 A standard PC or laptop does it's job. However, thing is, those LPers that are somewhat succesful are a bit more experienced players who are a bit older. They therefore have not only a lower voice, but also are often fairly better at commenting. Even if ProtonJonSA wouldn't have opened this challenge, children would still try to imitate LPs. But it's of course true what LesBeardly said, if you are not going to respond to your fans' comments, don't open a challenge

And really, if you're going to tackle something, you should research it at least. Even looking at a video, you should be able to know if something you have is of acceptable quality.

If you're going to LP a game, look to see if anyone else has done it first. The whole point is that PJ asked a a bunch of kids to pollute Youtube with playthroughs rife with technical issues and non-existent commentary. "Don't like, don't watch" doesn't matter - they suck either way.

Why do so many get hung up on the Asperger syndrome? First of all LesBeardly isn't making fun of him, he simply says he thinks the video is of bad quality. Secondly many people with Asperger don't like to be treated as handicapped. Everyone's different. I agree that it's not nice to make fun of the syndrome itself, because they can't do anything about that. But saying you can't say anything negative about them because they're different is very denigrating. It only makes things worse.

Still the concentration of jokes is not high enough to watch entire videos. I like lps better if they don't try to be funny but are so bad that they are (like the ones mentioned in this video), if they’re hilariously over the top (SirRonLionHeart), or if they're serious and high quality (LesBeardly and HCBailly).

Dude, he's right. I've wanted to do LPs for the LONGEST time now, but I've stayed the fuck away because I don't have any of the right equipment, or the money to buy it.
The point is, doing LP's without the proper equipment is the equivalent of shooting a film from your camera phone and hoping it'll be a Hollywood blockbuster.
And ProtonJon encouraged a shitload of kids to do just that.
He's still awesome, but that was a crappy move.

considering ncs is what around 30? i doubt he even feels up to getting famous. or maybe he is. who knows. he by far seems less attention hogging then chuggaaconroy at least. he's entertaining to listen to because he at least makes it seem like he's doing videos for fun since he actually shows a lot of production effort went into his videos and he doesn't go calling all his games "black sheep". so NCS is quite humble, he does give thanks to viewers, whether he makes money or not, i don't care.

@dewybmt No, NCS does not which is why I stopped watching him. Granted not all of the games Chuggaconroy has done are "black sheep" although Super Mario Sunshine which he LPed is because it wasn't well liked. In terms of being humble, Chugga wins. In terms of production effort, just watch some of the Okami LP and wins there too.

@starwind3438 bull. cheap effects and transitions doesnt mean good production effort. it just means he tries to be fancy. when i say production effort i mean how hard he tries to make the video entertaining. not pretty to watch and get distracted. chugguaaconroy isnt humble or really entertaining, he's annoying because he tries to be really really over-energetic. and to be honest while i say ncs is better than chuggaaconroy that's not saying much, i just find him tolerable so i watch his videos.

@starwind3438 but honestly like i said if he is trying to just get fame than oh well at least he's still entertaining, chuggaaconroy sucks and is annoying yet acts like he's really funny. he's like that one guy of the group who THINKS he's funny but really you just wanna get in his face and yell YOUR NOT FUNNY! but at the very least if NCS is in it for fame at least he can still make it LOOK like he cares. chuggaaconroy's jokes and material are stale and just unoriginal.

@dewybmt Wow. I feel like I'm talking to a 12 year old that has no logic sense. Chuggaconroy's videos have more production effort in to them that NCS's. In other words, Chugga has better editing skills. He adds text every so often to give additional information about the game. NCS does not and doesn't give credit to people that correct him on something. Also, NCS sounds like a redneck.

@starwind3438 just cause he doesnt give credit doesnt mean he sucks, would you give credit to every last person spamming the comments saying the answer, the same people who often spam them with useless info on the most basic stuff to the point it's annoying?
