Fake... An Iridium phone always takes at least ten seconds to setup a call. You don't just bang on the keypad - you have to hit the send button. You hold the phone up to your ear and you hear beeping while the phone sets up the call. Then you hear the phone ringing. About the only way you don't get an Iridium signal is if you have a building over your head, or you're in a deep valley. Shame on Inmarsat for stooping this low.

The only time she tries to call is at 2:40 (mic interference). Iridium sucks and takes MINUTES to connect to the satellite when u dial, let alone complete the call... Globalstar (only competitor) does not cover too far into the ocean. There is not much investiment in satphone technology, destined to die cuz the signal is never strong enough to make calls indoors, even by the window in tall buildings.

This was an obvious commercial and spoof. If you notice the vessel was always under motor power even when she was miles offshore, the backstay was way too loose, for serious sailing, and someone is obviously holding the camera as the camera was not moving in unison with the boat. Anyway take it as simple entertainment nothing more.

Besides that, the boat she's sailing looks more like a Beneteau 10R, rather than an open 70... or is an open 70 for the volvo ocean race?
