I don't get it, does she fall and he catches her? if so, then how does she get sick? I'M CONFUSED! Is this the first time she really meets death in his human form?
that´s so beautiful...i always loved the traditional sissi trilogy, - sissi and franz were always such a great couple! but sissi and death as a couple is also totally romantic :D i didn´t know that song yet since i only have the CD and haven´t yet been to the musical. love you for putting it up :)
I think it's interesting that we in part 1 are introduced to Elisabeth, and the image we get of her is that she's a horrible woman. But now we meet her, and she's a sweet, innocent girl. And it's all about how she changed.
@chocobasse10 I don't know if the Prolog makes her seem horrible. It makes her seem like a misfit. And Lucheni does make her sound bad (but she doesn't sound REALLY horrible until Kitsch, and she doesn't seem like a bad person to me until Wenn Ich Die Spiegel War, and it depends on the actress. Unfortunately, Maya made her really mean by looking at her mirror the whole time instead of her son).
@lightcloud435 Its strange in the musical because its a physical manifestation of Death and he's HAWT. In this scene it seems like she is intrigued by this guy who saves her and she doesn't fully realize who her Dark Prince is. Maybe the reason for this scene in is to show that she loved Death first before anyone, and to foreshadow the rest of the story. Also, she's outdoorsy and "natural," and in litterature there's connections between "natural" people and cycles of life
@mimineko828 but she says 'yes i know, you are Death' so i think she does realize even if she didn't quite understand. If it is as you say, then her intrigue would cost her a lot of misery for the rest of her life with him always hounding her no matter how many times she says 'no, go away' haha
@lightcloud435 Yes, she does say that. I still think its not really a desire to die but being intrigued by it. She says at the end she wants to write poems and stories. Maybe he inspires her. Also, as a character he's a lot less stuffy than her relatives, since in this musical he's actually a person.
when Luigi says 'Chresta beleza' = i think it's rather 'Cresta bellezza' what can mean something like 'beautiful hair/head' because 'bellezza' means 'beauty' and i'm not sure if he says 'cresta' actually, but if yes, then it means 'head/comb/crest/cockscomb' (maybe it emphasizes that Helene is so beautified today...)
i'm not Italian so i'm not sure, but i'm making Polish subtitles and i've wondered how to translate this (i translate all the Italian phrases that Luigi says in my subtitles)

Hmm.. I must wonder why he brought her back.

this is really the only scene I like Sissi, the rest of the play, she just whines and complains about the life she trapped herself in.

Death looks and acts alot like the Goblin King from Labyrinth maybe that is why I love this musical so much. Yay for sexy men in tights.

@starprincess1000000 Luring me out by mentioning Labyrinth (love that film)
Now I'd really like to see Bowie in the role of Death... I think he'd do it well!

I have a silly question: how can Elisabeth all full of life as she is, yearn for Death like that? (admittedly he's quite something!)

@lightcloud435 I think what she yearns for is the freedom that Death represents for her.
