I was especially struck by the brilliant acting of Robert Downey Jr in this film. At the time I saw it, I had really only known him for him rather sillier 80s movies and his criminal record. There were moments in this that opened my eyes... this little punk was an exceptional actor. Just as surprisingly was Meg Ryan. I've never seen her play a role like this, with such truth. At the time, I didn't think, "Wow, that's Meg Ryan." I did later... it stills amazes me. She was flawless.
Great upload, Mimo. I haven't seen this film and ordered right away. What an astounding cast. Sam Neil is always good and Polly Walker too. She was deliciously wicked in the mini-series "Rome." Good to see Hugh Grant doing something else. His last many films were such rehashed fluff. But as for Robert Downey, well, his choice of roles says a lot about the man. What an interesting character in his own right, so talented and productive.
