I just use FB mostly to talk to people from around the world. Friends and family around me I don't add to my FB. I have 2 FB accounts. One for all my family and friends, where so much gossip and drama has gone on that I don't go on that one anymore, and the other one, the friends that I met from a Guitarist website, and a couple others. I have only some 23 friends on that one, the way it should be. I really only actually talk to just a few out of that bunch too.

Yeah you say that it generalises but you fail to realise that sample sizes that small are pretty standard for every sociological study, and it does say something. You may have already accepted those phenomena but until then noone had done a study about it..

You can't make any generalizations from this study. You can not assume anything from this study. Until they do a sample size in the thousands at random across a large demographic of people, their study will not be valid.

The law of large numbers does apply... A sample size of 100 is no problem. A normal distribution or a t-distribution with 99 or so degrees of freedom are almost exactly the same. The problem here however is that the sample is not representative. Students are not ALL users. That's for sure. But students are a lot of users, so it might be kinda representative. Also, some studies say that using students does not really harm representativity (I've heard about it, but I'm not sure). Anyways...
