Actually you can sue for millions, but the chance of collecting are small, insurance companies will portion out % of fault, and a person walking out between two cars would be 85-90% AT FAULT. Not in crosswalk or light, and if the driver at speed limit, insured etc. Tragedy yes, but LOOK before you cross a road!
