Debt collectors are indeed bottom-feeding scum, but those who try to collect on old, time-barred accounts are the lowest of all. You knew full well that old, expired paper was legally unenforceable when you bought it, even if it was for pennies on the dollar. If the consumer knows this too (as more are learning all the time) and tells you to pound sand, then you lost the gamble fair & square and have only yourself to blame. Accept it and move on, but don’t bother sniveling about “deadbeats”
