@McflyJonesSkywalker Yes- Ivan Reitman will be directing it. However, Bill Murray has to sign on to do it in order for it to get made as he owns part of the rights for the franchise. Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd own the rest of the rights and have signed on to reprise their roles. Ernie Hudson has expressed interest in signing on to reprise his role. It is unknown if Sigourney Weaver is even coming back, but there is speculation that Rick Moranis will not as he is currently retired from acting.

@torstn The two I mentioned often get negative reviews. I do not think they were horrible- but I think they were made much later than they should have been. If too much time passes- the world changes and the actors get way older. Therefore, a sequel made over a decade later does not seem like it fits in with what was previously made. I feel like it can only be a true sequel if it is made close enough to when the previous stories were released. "Ghostbusters 3" should have come out in the 1990's.

@JLC31383 I think it works if the time passed plays into the script well enough. Cultures change as time goes by, but that just opens the door for comedy gold if done properly. I think they'd have to go with a "passing the torch" kind of movie though for the new ghostbusters.
