I like ur tutorials. I got a question. i wanna learn: Schubert moment musical allergro vivace. Do u have a tutorial of that one? and if not could u make one of it? i would be very greatfull.
Hi. I would just like to say thank you for everything that you have done. During rougher times in my life I decided to pick up piano and you have helped me learn countless pieces. Thank you so much for having impacted me tremendously in a positive way!
HI!! your tuorial helped me a lot! now i can play all the song, but I am now having problems with the pedals! I don´t know when to use it, can you help me? regards!
@FranciscoEldahuk may I presume you read music? imslp (best classical score site) has several versions, you can see from the thumbnails that some have pedal markings.
@bbdhrggl HI! thanks for your answer! I can read music but not as complex as this one. I have tried to read the score but I find it very difficult, cause I don´t know for each pedal marking, where in the song I am
@bbdhrggl, haha although I may not do what you suggest, I think you make a good point. I just finished nocturne op 9-2 by Chopin, maybe I can do a couple things that are just a little harder then come to this in about a year or so. :)
@bbdhrggl, oh really? Thats concerning. I would really like to learn this song because I do like to challenge myself but I have no teacher to give me guidelines so I've just been learning whatever sounds good.
@Bluetooth199 there are so many SUPER (and perhaps better) classical pieces than this (all levels), why rush to this? give yourself something to look forward to :)
@bbdhrggl I've only been playing piano for a year, so I'm giving myself three months to be able to play this well all the way through. As for practicing, my time is limited so I usually only play for maybe a half hour a day.
@Bluetooth199 uh oh. students do not play this until their 6th year. jumping the gun does more harm than good. learning ANYTHING well requires time and effort to build a solid foundation. there are no shortcuts.
@Bluetooth199 Saying something like that is not only completely obsurd, but it's insulting to ALL Extremist pianists if you even THINK you can get anywhere near this ETUDE after only 1 year of playing piano without a teacher?
@Bluetooth199 I´ve been playing the piano for 10 years now (more Jazz, but still), and it took me 3 months to learn it. I´m not used to classical pieces, but I can promise you that it´s not a good idea to start so early with this piece.
@Bluetooth199 it depends. my standards are high. few "master" concert level pieces. I was satisfied to reach 70% of a Rubinstein performance. when I learned this piece, I probably practiced 3 weeks at 1/2 hour a day. which is obviously inadequate.
the top HS piano students we know practice 4+ hours a day, not all the same piece of course. mastering a piece could take them months or even a year. every note has to be perfect. touchwise. beware however: we who seek perfection are never satisfied
@DickKnowsBest I have in the past played most of the classical pieces I made tutorials for. But there is "playing", and there is "playing". From your comment, you know what I mean. Perfection is impossible and not a goal, yet, my playing was never to my standards. So it lingered as a hobby.
The slow tempo and pc editing makes sightreading a breeze. Thus the daily output.
@bbdhrggl I remember u saying that somewhere. cuz i thought to myself "oh that's too bad cuz she plays really well" I bow to ur skills!! mind i ask when your birthday is? not the year if you don't want to say your age.
Soooooo... I've spent about 1 and 1/2 hours today trying to learn this song... I can play the melody and the left hand at just under twice the correct speed without much problem. The problem is... I don't seem to understand this rhythm. In theory it's a basic 6/8 rhythm. Sigh... I can play both hands together with little problem, but I feel the song start to fall apart after a few seconds because I know the my rhythm is off. Any advice?
@BustTheNotes looking at the printed music will help a lot, because you can see how the LH and RH notes line up, and the important accent markings. the score is free at imslp. if you don't read music, just look at one measure at a time. not the entire score. or else it will be intimidating.
please don't learn what this woman does with her right-hand fingers between 0:32-0:45, it's unnecessary difficult and not the most beautiful way to place the fingers.
I've been playing piano for a year now. after i leanred fur elise i decided i would tackle this, and after about 5 months of practice and watching this video ive learned the entirety of this piece! thank you so much!
@KadeshLeMort I learned how to play the entire piece in about 2 months (i dont read music, had to memorize it off this video) and for the past 3 months ive perfected it. id say im doing just fine.
@KadeshLeMort What long? Everyone is not as good players as you are. Even though I have been playing for longer time than "writermoma" I'm sure it would take me at least half a year to just learn both hands and get them together...
@writermoma what kinda prodigy are you, this is like one of the hardest songs I've ever heard and never even imagined playing it yet, I've been playing for 9years, and I'm fairly good, or so they say..

@BloodyBloodPeker and there are some far more difficult than those he mentioned, such as works by Godowsky, Prokofiev, Scriabin, Ravel,... the list goes on
@vourier m13-16 and m17-21 accent differently. my tutorials illustrates the notes and counting only. almost everything is loud or I get complaints that the notes are not clear enough. so do what the score says.
@CallMeChanii you can divide each measure into two parts in which there are 4 notes for the right hand and 3 for the left. You should play 1st notes of the right and left hands together, then 2nd note of the right hand,2nd left,3rd right,3rd left and 4th right

Hi, did you learn this song by playing slowly in the tempo like that? Or did you have to master both hands separately than bring it together. because I heard practicing polyrhythmic scales would help, but I want to know if there can be another way.
@DelinArt i'm not a real piano teacher. many teachers recommend separate hands first. I believe it is up to the individual. I practiced tons of scales/arpeggios when young. i never learned to play this piece well, because I "fought" the notated fingering. That proved to be my stumbling block forever. Shows the editors know best. Playing slowly with the metronome, then gradually increasing the tempo is always a good way to practice. Good luck :)
@DelinArt try practicing like this for example in measure 5 play only C# E E E of the left hand and right hand normally, that way you are only playing the notes that go with the right hand. This will help you get a feel for what needs to be accented.
Slowly add the between notes and before you know it the poly-rhythm will make more sense. Playing with a metronome might help too. I'm also in the process of learning this piece so I feel your pain.

@jammielaplace I am so sorry about your mom. I am working on the Ocean right this minute, finished up to measure 36 (of 83). Playing it at a pace to fit 15 minutes. Each 32nd note is at 89 bpm. Is that going to be too fast to learn from? Stop me before I keep going.
@bbdhrggl Any luck with the Ocean etude from Chopin Tutorial?, Dont mean to Harrass you About it jus Let me Know if You Decide to Put it Up please, Thank You
@bbdhrggl i Totally Agree with Otaka732, I really wanna Learn this Piece for My Mom who is Sick w\ Cancer and Adores This Song..I'd be Much appreciative if You could Make a Video Tutorial on Chopin's Etude op25 no12..Thank you
@jammielaplace sorry, I rather you be lying about your mom to get me to do the tutorial. Kids have done that before. Yet, I'll see whether I find time to do it tomorrow. It is a long piece.
Measure 21 to 24 - You are so lucky to have such beautiful, long, thin fingers. I have so much trouble there.
I have another question on my channel that I will ask you privately, if you don't mind please because this song drives me insane because of the 8 against 6. Ugh! I can do it slowly, but once I get up the speed, the hands want to play together. Ugh! I love Chopin, but hate playing what he has written, although beautiful.
@lllllllllllllll88 it is actually more difficult to play such 8 against 6 sections slowly. the fact you can play it slowly means you will be able to play it fast. when I practice new pieces, I use a metronome to increase the speed a tiny bit at a time, it works.
@bbdhrggl - Thank you so much, and you are so correct. I need to be more patient as I mentioned in my email. Increase the speed a "tiny" bit at a time is key. I increase the speed too much because I can't wait to get it to tempo and it usually falls apart. Thank you again for your assistance.
And also, I loved what you said about if people think their hands are not for piano, and the video example you used of the guy playing with his feet. I always say that and you woke me up. lol
Still struggling to get cross-rhythms right... Any tips or tricks?

@jammielaplace I am so sorry about your mom. I am working on the Ocean right this minute, finished up to measure 36 (of 83). Playing it at a pace to fit 15 minutes. Each 32nd note is at 89 bpm. Is that going to be too fast to learn from? Stop me before I keep going.

I always say that and you woke me up. lol
