Gradually work your way up. You'll be a better rider than all of the clowns that buy liter bikes as their first ride with chicken strips taking up half the tire.
@opmike343 Don't mean to sound stupid here but what do you mean by "litre bikes"? and "chicken strips" I'm a new rider don't really know much about them, Should do soon though, Going to study bike mechanics at college :) and it's always good to know a bit more before I start :)
@SeriouslyShane Liter bike is engine size of 1000cc(cylinder volume is 1000 cubic centimeters/1 liter), chicken strips are from not leaning the bike enough in the corners so there are unused strips on the edges of the tires because the rider is "chicken"
Had Lots & Lots Of Litre Bikes & The Factory RSV 4 Is Without Doubt The Best !!! Then The Mighty Gixer 1000 K5 But Thats Just Me, Mind You All Modern Sportsbikes Are Awesome !!!! Just Get Out There & Njoy.
@RETICS1 in the BMW vs rivals vid I think they used the RSV4 Fctory APRC which makes a world of difference compared to the base RSV4. Also, it seems that MCN was blinded by the coolness of the crossplane crank in 2009 so they gave everything to the R1 when it really probably didn't deserve it.
I have the BMW myself, and I have read everything, and looked at every review. The Aprilia is king of the track. I am pretty sure the BMW would pull it on a drag strip. When you start comparing any of these liter bikes you are splitting hairs. They are all so good, and are all always improving. They all are so much better than they were even a few years ago.
ive had both, u get what u pay for. The biggest question is do you want acceleration or handling? The aprilia is an ultimate track bike! dont listem to another youtube know it al, watch a few motogp races and let APRILIA show you why its bikes msrp has risen over 50 percent in the last !years
the R1 don't have the same prestige components like ohlins rear shock absorber & front forks, which is available at the rsv4. and the results, the R1 wins.
in case, if the r1 heve same components of the rsv4, what is the ruslts than? Rediculous? ;)
Yamaha has always left its competition in the dust both in motogp and on the street. Just because the italians tack on a few extra thousand dollars on to the price tag doesn't mean their bikes are superior in anyway. In fact for the money you pay for an average Duc or Apprilla, you could buy an R-1 have spend the rest of the money in mods that would smoke those other bikes hands down.
You cannot buy a bad modern superbike these days. It's like splitting hairs, unless you're a professional rider/racer who can really tell the subtle differences.
sick of italian overpriced shit. aprilia??? lool? in 1994 aprilia want to make a 250 supersport bike and ask for a japanese motor. suzuki give them RGV250. it is not the first time when japanese give italinas their motors. few years ago i heared on news that Eu reduce taxes for japs motos because japonese give europeans license to build some of their motors.
it's always those brutally expensive and brutally speedy italian engine that i can't afford even if i brutally rob any bank that wins and brutally slay japs crap! shit i own those japs crap!!!
@ArthurMedeiros12 what's the point of a bike so long, so heavy and so poweful that is not even used on GP? on a track a Hayabusa is trash against a 600 or a 1000 LOL
someone mentioned MCN hates Jap bikes. I wouldn't use the word hate, but they do prefer Euro bikes over Jap bikes. Except the new R1. They seemed to love the R1 since Yamaha introduced the new version.
And speaking of on-track performance, I should mention that Ben Spies won a title in WSBK on his R1 -- both rider and bike new. Which means Biaggi can't use the "RSV4 was a new bike that still needed development" excuse.
They wanted the aprilia to win cause they hate jap bikes for real. Thats all that is lol. Jap bikes always better. He had that sound in his voice like damn man, i dont really want to say the jap bike is better. lol. These guys are a trip. The rsv4 is a nice bike though. I have nothing against it myself. I do like that 1098 also. Awesome bike. I just hate how they put down all other bikes but say nothing but good things towards there kind of bikes.
Funny the Yamaha didn't win any bike of the year nods for 2010 from a single media outlet and Yamaha didn't win a single race in SBK World Superbike this year. I wonder why that is?
LOL @ all the bitching going on here. Fact is no one makes a bad open class sports bike, I would hapily own any of em.... And still be faster than all u C*#TS HEHEHEH
The more I watch videos by MCN, the more I like Motorcylce USA. These guys don't know how to make a good review, they can't analyse the bike integrally, and they are certainly not drivers of the same level and pedigree of Motorcycle USA. The only fair competition for the RSV4 is the BMW S1000RR, or the new ZX-10R.
bouth bikes are gods.. just a question of stile and adaptacion ..in our days we dont have nothng "much better.." so my friends dont say mine is much better than yours !! zx10, R1, 1198, S1000rr, gsxr1000, cbr1000rr, RSV1000, the tecnology of these bikes are.. the best you can get in high-sports bikes! is an option of a small details for a good bikes!
These guys are stupid. EVERYONE WHO KNOES WHAT THE HELL a aprilia is Knows they are NOT street bikes, and by testing it on the street its unfair,Hes reasoning is wrong, If your gonna compair price You mite as well as bike a 600 and turbo it.
Don't forget, they have the UK spec R1, if you're from the US, the R1 is gutless from 1st through 5th gear because of the timing retardation of the ignition. So it make sense that the R1 is close, if not better in the low to mid band RPM.
@epiphonesg007 Looks are subjective, I prefer the R1 to the RSV4. I'm not doubting its success this year in WSB, but then Yamaha won last year. I don't actually like the looks of the RSV4, to be entirely honest. But I'm not "right" as there is no right and wrong here. Faster is down to rider skills, purely. HP and top line speed are fine, for someone who knows how to use it.
You guys are spot on!!! I know because I rode both on the track and the street with race tires and warmers. The R1 is smoother and more low end grunt and great handling. The RSV4 has very good handling and cool V4 sound. But the RSV4 is way more money. Not to mention when u need repair work done on the RSV4 you have a long wait. Like the total engine recall. But if you have boat loads of money get the factory RSV4 . If your looking for a kick ass fun bike to ride for way less money get the R1
i own both of these bikes, its up to the individual, the comment about the aprilia being gutless in the lower gears / rpm's is horseshit, personally, i think that the aprilia is the better bike, it puts by up going through all of the gears while the r1 is really only gooing to put me up through the 2nd gear. again, its up to the rider.
@getpoop5509 is the aprilia really cost that much more? and is the sound as good as they say it is? i think thats the only thing i heard them give the aprilia in this video.

fairplay mcn your so full of shit, if the aprillia is lacking the grunt as you say why the hell can we clearly see it pulling on the r1 , outhandling it, looks a damn sight finer, n sounds better, get new testers cos this chap is as bias as hell
i think they paid you to say that the r1 is better i have the rsv4 and its way better than the r1 the r1 looks silly and the handling you cannot even compare it.
@SicSeb Again, subjective. I happen to think the RSV4 is "butt ugly" with its face. You can't define what is right and wrong for looks, as they're down to the individual. For Italian bikes, I just can't seem to "like" Aprillia, I'm more of a Ducati man. It's all subjective though. Although the looks of the newer R1 took time to grow on me, they absolutely have. There's a beauty of design in functionality going on.
alright no matter what they say look at max biaggi his rsv4 goes past everything in a straight line the r1's the dukes everything and on acceleration the rsv is much better but like they say for the factory bike its over the price of a r1 but if u'v got the money the aprillia is so much better iv ridden both on track and definately prefer the rsv.
i own an rsv an it shits on any jap bike out there. the japs are good in a straight line but start winding through corners and the brembo brakes and ohlins runnin gear on the italians nails them.if ya budget can stretch go the italian.japs are a dime a dozen.
@rama6maiden The one I saw at my local Aprilia dealer looked pretty much like the standard can. I think it was the official Aprilia Racing optional extra for the Factory version, like they did with the RSV 1000 Factory.
The review did sound a bit biased in favor of Yamaha.
but the RSV was foremost for racing. WIth that in focus, you have sacrifice street appreciative things like low-end response. In fact, the first few hundred RSV Milles were homologation models; basically race bikes with lights and signals. This comparison should've been a Yamaha R1 versus Aprilia Falco R or Aprilia Tuono. Same engine as the RSV, just tuned down for street people.
@runxxeroxx suzuki knew that no matter how nice of a 1000 they made Yamaha would allways be one step ahead so rather than continue to lose against yamaha's R1 they made 1300 that is a very nice bike but a pussy move if you ask me.
I think this argument on "charm" is a rather pointless one, firstly it is entirely personal and secondly people seem to have this bee in their bonnet about the Japanese lacking charm. The R1 is an historic machine, there are R1s still running around out there that are older then most of the people posting on this thread. This "charm" argument might have meant something in the 70s, but these days it is an irrelevant claim by Europe to still have something over the Jap bikes.
@nonekeer well isn't your opinion biased, italian fanboy............try riding a Japanese, you will see how superior these machines are even under extreme riding
They are both beautiful machines and winner in their own rights. The rsv4 is a fountian of Italian passion and flare. Dropdead gogeous in every aspects but lacks the practicality, usability and reliability of the pinpoint precise r1. I reckon that the r1 will be faster but I'll take the aprilia anyday cos it reminds me what biking is all about and make me feels 12 years old. But if I have those money I will surely go for the Ducati Desmosedici rr.
I still don't know what to buy etween these two.....I mean aprillia has a style, looks as godess ,R1 has many good things too as a engine, gearbox, and finaly R1 looks pretty too ,but still......RSV4R is hotter to me
I own an Aprilia RSV and really wanted to get the RSV4. The price difference really didn't bother me. I ended up buying a 2009 R1 for $9999. The main reason is that there are no Aprilia shops within 100 miles of me. I have to drive almost to West Virginia from Baltimore to get my RSV serviced. I had to put emotions aside and make a logical decision.
if you were to put all the high end components that the aprilia has to the R1 then there will be no competition. and not everyone has a r1 face it people there is no competition to the big tunning fork.
@MrVrod02 true that...... except for maybe harleys :P

WHY NOT TO TRY EXCHANGE BIKE AND THEN COMPARE?
pa3kkent1 1 year ago
u cnat compare a yamaha r 1 with that rsv 4, is like compare a porsche with a mustang.... style
milksugar00 1 year ago
@milksugar00 Sure you can. They are both on the group 1000cc bikes and they are sportsbike very race orientated. No reason for no comparison...

This guy trashes the Aprilia? HAHA - ya very bias - this is the ONLY review I have seen that puts the R1 ahead. Aprilia FTW.
762lenny 1 year ago 2
fairplay mcn your so full of shit, if the aprillia is lacking the grunt as you say why the hell can we clearly see it pulling on the r1 , outhandling it, looks a damn sight finer, n sounds better, get new testers cos this chap is as bias as hell

@vicsang1 Aprilia is garbage and just a waste of money. It's a loser to any bike.

yamaha doesn't have the handling of an aprilia. i have a R1, the only reason i don't have rsv4 is coz i can't afford one lol

i think they paid you to say that the r1 is better i have the rsv4 and its way better than the r1 the r1 looks silly and the handling you cannot even compare it.
maybe you drove it on the road mode.

@yveskhadra yeah rsv4 is monstrous ! r1 is just popular...

In a few years boys will be missing the HOWL of older r1's and that tight sounding scream :)
eamh2002 1 year ago
The new R1 is buttugly, that's for sure. The RSV4 definately looks a lot better. Wish I could drive them both though =P
SicSeb 1 year ago 3
@SicSeb Again, subjective. I happen to think the RSV4 is "butt ugly" with its face. You can't define what is right and wrong for looks, as they're down to the individual. For Italian bikes, I just can't seem to "like" Aprillia, I'm more of a Ducati man. It's all subjective though. Although the looks of the newer R1 took time to grow on me, they absolutely have. There's a beauty of design in functionality going on.

wabashofutah 1 year ago
alright no matter what they say look at max biaggi his rsv4 goes past everything in a straight line the r1's the dukes everything and on acceleration the rsv is much better but like they say for the factory bike its over the price of a r1 but if u'v got the money the aprillia is so much better iv ridden both on track and definately prefer the rsv.
DARTHRAVER56 1 year ago
i own an rsv an it shits on any jap bike out there. the japs are good in a straight line but start winding through corners and the brembo brakes and ohlins runnin gear on the italians nails them.if ya budget can stretch go the italian.japs are a dime a dozen.

is it possible to make an akrapovic exhaust look like the stock one on the aprilia??
rama6maiden 1 year ago
@rama6maiden The one I saw at my local Aprilia dealer looked pretty much like the standard can. I think it was the official Aprilia Racing optional extra for the Factory version, like they did with the RSV 1000 Factory.

red and black jumpsuit guy is the best reviewer ever
rcpilot825 1 year ago
The review did sound a bit biased in favor of Yamaha.
but the RSV was foremost for racing. WIth that in focus, you have sacrifice street appreciative things like low-end response. In fact, the first few hundred RSV Milles were homologation models; basically race bikes with lights and signals. This comparison should've been a Yamaha R1 versus Aprilia Falco R or Aprilia Tuono. Same engine as the RSV, just tuned down for street people.
BahnE28 1 year ago
@BahnE28
Falcos and Tuonos are also based on old RSV mille V2 engines.
RSV 4 is a completely new concept, cant compare it to a Falco...

@RunningFromthe80s ah, right right
BahnE28 1 year ago
Bull Sh... we talk about R bike,if you wan useful bike bay Hayabusa or BMW 1300
it's fast but is for public road,Aprilia is for race track which is first end only purpose
When you tested R1 vs Suzuki end Honda,R1 win be cos is much more for Race
track then Suzuki or Honda?!
runxxeroxx 1 year ago
@runxxeroxx suzuki knew that no matter how nice of a 1000 they made Yamaha would allways be one step ahead so rather than continue to lose against yamaha's R1 they made 1300 that is a very nice bike but a pussy move if you ask me.
Yamaha for ever!

TheDuerden 1 year ago
R1 is the winner.
RSV very beautiful bike, not as reliable as R1,hard to find shops/dealers fro service etc...
tramagacity 1 year ago
The aprillia is a beautiful machine. The R1 doesn't have the looks,... The aprilia gives you the feeling of real biking.
although my top 3 is: 1. Ducati desmosedici
2.aprilia rsv4
3. Mv agusta F4
nonekeer 1 year ago
@nonekeer well isn't your opinion biased, italian fanboy............try riding a Japanese, you will see how superior these machines are even under extreme riding
300428179 1 year ago
They are both beautiful machines and winner in their own rights. The rsv4 is a fountian of Italian passion and flare. Dropdead gogeous in every aspects but lacks the practicality, usability and reliability of the pinpoint precise r1. I reckon that the r1 will be faster but I'll take the aprilia anyday cos it reminds me what biking is all about and make me feels 12 years old. But if I have those money I will surely go for the Ducati Desmosedici rr.
dhsnfuducndausfvusdf 1 year ago 3

RIDE AND WEAR ITALIAN PEOPLE, but I still do like the R1..If i hadthe money I would go RSV4
keesog 1 year ago
if you were to put all the high end components that the aprilia has to the R1 then there will be no competition. and not everyone has a r1 face it people there is no competition to the big tunning fork.
