The effect is perfectly visible. Just look at the near horizontal lines with strong contrast.

Actually, the HF S-10/100 camcorder seems to have a similar issue, since it also tries to downscale from a high resolution to 1920x1080. And that happening on a camcorder is even worse than what this video shows, IMHO.

If you look closely, the one on the right is considerably sped up. It leads me to believe it's just the 20fps option on the T1i sped up to 30fps.

If I'm not mistaken, most of photography expert called 500D as a "High-School" version of 5D Mark II.

It has the same DIGIC4 Processor, so that's why it look hardly different.

Video on the left is 500D 720p@30fps

And on the right is a 500D 1080p sized to 720p and 20fps speed up to 30fps.

There is no 5D mk2!

But even 1080p on 500D is much worse than on 5D mk2.

Very good comparison!! The quality difference aren't big. But 500D is shooting at 720P / 1080P?

if youre gonna be anal about it, its the youtube compression probably, but I just dont see the point by having redicilous quality, when... in medium like this, it will be wiped out anyhow...

humm.. yeah, that's what I'm saying. In this test both cameras look the same, so what's the point of getting a 5DmkII for video if the 500D looks the same on this quality?
