  • sick videos dude, liked and subbed. And your so right man, people dont know how to play bf3 they probably think its cod

  • The CITV station works great against helios if your on the russian side, when playing on Norshair Cannals

  • the one on the tank isn't that effective because tanks are easy to spot out and take down. The soflamms are better because even if u do know where they are you can't really take it out that easily.

  • @swissltpgaming True but then everyone would camp with recon and soflam

  • dice should give the recons who use soflam the same points as the engineers so more people would use it

  • all is good but that childish american brostep at the beginning. eww

  • @baz2uka its called dubstep and it isn't childish. It's actually mainstream now if you didn't know.

  • I truthfully hate the SOFLAM, it's not enough that I have jets, choppers, mobile AA turrets, and ground units with stingers/IGLAs attempting to constantly shoot me down with chain guns or missiles. Not only that but it essentially requires you to have ECM Jammer unlocked in order to survive the SOFLAM which is utterly ridiculous considering how difficult it can be to level up air vehicles for some players; the vehicle unlock system in general is a dumb idea IMO too.

  • Great tips :D

  • All it needs is a motion sensor

  • bring back the at4!

  • the thing I love about the soflam is that, even if your team isn't running javelins, chopper whores will freak out when they're painted and focus all their attention on destroying it. This is really useful on Nosehair against the 2 Little Birds. If it is well-placed, it's not easy to destroy from the air. So, for a period of time, the choppers are focused on something other than killing your team. You see in Stone's vid that, when the choppers get painted, they almost crash trying to get away.

  • Do targets painted by the CITV station also count as painted for people outside the tank or just for the driver and his guided shells?

  • @Holymalus everyone

  • does the soflam paint targets even when youre not manually using it?

  • @beast2711 yes, but only if the target is on sight, it doesn't turn itself automaticly, but you can control it from miles away.

  • one question: sometimes when I try to designate some targets, I'll only lock on them with the square, but no diamond will show no matter what. And it seems that locked targets that have no diamond won't show for javelin users..,In the clip you can see it sometimes (when targetting the chopper at 0:40 , for instance). does anyone know why does this happen and how to avoid it?. Thanks :)

  • What should a do when I exit the soflam, keep the laser pointing in an open area (hopefully spotting random vehicles while un manned) or point the laser away so it doesn't get spotted and detroyed?

  • I hope the ppl on Console see this video. And start using this!

  • I have one question about laser painting....

If you exit the soflam it will keep painting all enemy veh. that come in his Point of view? Or you have to renter every time?

I know the soflam will not turn by himself but if its stationary just pointing one direction, will it paint everything?

And could you make a little review of laser painting in air vehicles? Thx!

  • Thanks for that it's very under used especially the soflam I have been using recon equipment for a long time now and share the frustration of the new to the soflam gang one thing I always do now is if I notice say from flying the mav that someone is using the soflam I will change to javelin and take the targets offered by the generous recon guy most of all I hope to encourage the guy to keep using the kit something to consider while running soflam is to deploy it right in the action remember i

  • I just unlocked the soflam last night. gonna talk my engi. squad mate into using his javelin more often. we already do the guided shell/citv trick quite often. thanks for the soflam pointers!

  • yes yes yes.... thx stone

  • This is an informative video but it kind of just encourages ass hats to camp in the stupid tank even more.

  • @impalor1979 Well so what. Maybe its your platform, maybe it's cause your lucky. I don't know, quite honestly I don't care. Just cause it maybe not happen to YOU doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. However, you could be right, or could be right. We'll never know. But all in all my professional and veteran opinion says they are overpowered and completely unrealistic.

  • This has been another public service announcement brought to you by: StoneFaceLock & The DCRU.

  • this shit's so OP

  • That's all i use any more. Javs and guided shell. It's so easy and picks up a shit load of kills.

  • I hate the SOFLAM. The reward points ain't worth the time spent painting targets. It's only useful if you have a real problem with the skies And when I say "real" I mean nothing moves without getting shot by enemy boogies. If you want to be effective with it, you have to have a teamate ready at all times.

CITV on the other hand, makes a tank a bigger threat than it already is. Especially if the gunner's got Reactive Armour. A 3-man crew with proper perks and teamwork renders the tank BF king.

  • love the chat at 1:22

  • Th CITV + Guided Shell is really good. As for the SOFLAM + Javelin, it doesn't work too well. If the range on both was was longer and the SOFLAM had more vertical range of motion it'd be better.

  • By the way you can paint targets with the chopper too helps a lot.

  • i always rock the javelin but no one ever uses the damn soflam so frustrating to see your twam getting owned by chopperwhores

  • The problem with this is that Few people use the soflam, then few people use javeling/guided shell, wich means the soflam becomes useless and few people use it ...

  • @zoq2 Thats why the info has got to go out there. The more ppl that use soflam, the more useful the the jav is gonna be. The more useful the jav is gonna be, the more ppl who will use it. This isnt gonna happen overnight, but the only way its gonna be useful is if we try to get the ball rolling.

  • another good idea is if you are the driver of the tank run javelins. sometimes the CITV can paint things that are too high up for the tank turret to lock on with guided shells so you can just pop out use the javelin and get back in the tank.

  • never got a jet, but plenty of choppers with guided shell+citv

  • I love the citv station

  • idk if u already did a video about it, but make a vid mentioning the scout heli laser painter+guided missle combo

  • lol at chat

  • You gotta love the CITV station, you can see land mines, claymores, etc plus it acts as a radar station so you and the driver can see enemies on the mini-map in the immediate area. WIN-WIN! Attack flags while in the Main Battle tanks to allow the points you gain from PTFO-ing to go towards your tank unlocks.

  • people are greedy, if it doesnt get them kills they wont do it

  • I see more and more soflams these days, so for those of you who main engineer (like I do) bring the javelins so you're ready to fire off a rocket as soon as you see the red square appear. You see it, even though you don't have the jav equipped so you KNOW someone is painting for you. The first time the recon sees a painted target go down, he'll keep spotting for you. Everybody wins. Let him know if you are out of rockets. Text chat goes a long way when working with randoms/strangers.

  • Both soflam and CITV are awesome. Like you said, you can own the skies from the ground. I find the CITV better than the soflam and I find it's best to have only two people in the tank instead of three. The gunner/CITV position, I feel, should be used by one individual. A friend and I ran CITV and guided shell on Nosehair and I went 21 & 1. CITV is also great for tank to vehicle combat. A good tank team is almost unbeatable as long as you keep C4 off the tank. Nice video Stone.

  • The only bad thing about the SOFLAM that stone didn't mention is when a target that has been designated is taken out you are supposed to get points but you don't right now it is glitches. These points are sort of like a kill assist and equal the amount of points that have been taken off the vehicles health

  • Hey stone, I would be sick if you made a playlist of all your sick dubstep tunes and put them up for download somewhere? :P Pleeeeeaseeeee

  • Dice should give higher points for laser targeting assists, maybe 50 points, just like supression assists, instead of 10... this way much more people would use soflam and citv...

  • You don't have to equip the CITV It's allways on, And it's also verry useful for beeing able to spawn on tanks that are "full" sence verry few people have it unlucked.

  • I think that choppers are able to paint targets as well. Last night on noshahr canals the other teams vehicles were being painted from their base. We were the americans, so no tank, and I didn't see any soflam.

  • Nice stuff stone hope i see more random teammates running Soflam or Javelin

  • My god im never gonna get the ecm jammer in time before more people use this tactic :( Im already running into game where they do this. Im just gonna get shot down all day...

  • When you said soldier I immediately imagined a medium armour class holding a spinfuser >__> I've been playing too much tribes-

  • i still not very clear about why using a javelin instead of a stinger could be better while helped with a soflam does the javelin ignore the vehicles flairs? what makes it better

  • @xxxbigredxxx717 Yes. Flares do nothing to the javelins. Flares can only temporarily "unpaint" itself, when I mean temporarily I mean like less than 1 second. Painting is powerful unless they have ECM jammer, which very few people have.

  • @StoneFaceLock thanks 4 the reply stone definetly will be using the Javelin and my citv station/soflam thanks for the advice aswell

  • @xxxbigredxxx717 javelin and guided shells are also a one hit kill on air vehicles and they do top damage on ground targets too

  • @xxxbigredxxx717 You can't lock onto choppers and jets with the javelin without someone painting the target with soflam or the CITV station. But once you can get a lock, the javelin is pretty much one hit kill on chopper and jets, which is why some people who like to pilot are asking for a nerf

  • @xxxbigredxxx717 Also, the javelin guided by the soflam or CITV is a one hit kill on choppers. How many stingers does it take? 4? 5?

  • ive been playing on a Op firestorm conquest server recently, and it seems that whichever team has soflam/soflams up and javelin engies usually win, because all enemy air becomes tangled up with their rockets pretty quickly... so its like a cat and mouse game of finding and taking out enemy soflams, so that our air can take out ground vehicles :) it is a lot of fun

  • If you paint the jets and choppers can I, if in a jet or chopper, shoot my guided and hit the Soflam painted target? Never had that in a game

  • @myeekeepee Yes

  • Most snipers think it is a webcam.

  • The SOFLAM description says it will work automatically, but I haven't found that to be true. Is there something you have to do to turn that feature on, or? Great vid!

  • @135tp It will work automatically, but it's stationary while you are not using it. Meaning it can only spot a fixed point in its line of sight. Really only useful on a busy road spotting tanks or jeeps.

  • @StoneFaceLock Ok, thanks!

  • Does the soflam glow red at all times or only when you are looking through the binoculars?

Also, I assume you can't paint 2 vehicles at the same time?

  • @velvethammer33 Yes the soflam glows all the time and no you cant paint more than 1 target at once.

  • @velvethammer33 also does it auto paint when you're not in it

  • @funnyfonzi3 the soflam will constantly paint enemy vechiles that come across it when your not controlling it, so to save time point it near the enemy carrier or airport then you can snipe and designate at the same time. this doesn't work with the CITV station

  • Have you guys seen the javelin squad vids? That is a good set up.

  • As a Jet pilot the CITV Station is highly overpowered. I mean c'mon in real life Tanks don't have that sort of equipment or laser tracking system. And it's kind of just a tool for people who ruin the game by staying in the tanks 24/7 getting that unlock, and once they do they just troll around with it. In comparison to other vehicles in BF3 the Jets are HIGHLY under-powered, and I wish they would have done something about that.

  • @hupboobajuice They probably do, to be fair. But hey, Battlefield 3 isn't supposed to be focused on Realism anyway

  • @hupboobajuice i play bf3 all the time, and i fly jets, choppers, drive tanks, and never i have been shot down by a CITV or a tank while im flying. no one hardly uses it, thats why dice is thinking of increasing the range of CITVs and lock on points....and in all my time of being in a tank, i just shot down 1 chopper with a guided shell...it requires a lot of communication and team work, and if you not playing with friends, that combo is pretty much none existent...

  • I wish they rewarded that more, the person shooting the jav or guided shell gets plenty points, but 10 points for the paint? Kinda sucks, especially if the person who shot the jav gets a quad from your paint.

  • @ImyurZero Ya no joke. They need to increase that so there is more incentive to paint targets.

  • wish there was a way saying to the whole team that your running a soflam so that your teammates know to use the jav on console

  • Maybe most snipers can actually be useful now with this bit of info.

  • @keyserv2 Yes, absolutely. If snipers want to chill away from the action, at least run a SOFLAM.

  • can i mark a chopper or a jet with CITV and another person lock on to it with a javelin. or CITV only for guided shells in a tank?

  • @impalor1979 CITV is for ANY weapon, including Javelin. Even if you don't have the javelin pulled up, u will still see a huge red square in your HUD. Then u can switch to the javelin and fuck shit up!

  • soflam can also lazer paint targets even when you are not controlling it

  • @liettutis Very true. Although it's best used down a road for tanks, air vehicles usually get out of its sights easily.

  • Wish more people ran these man. I would most definitely run with the Javelin if more recons used SOFLAM.

  • @videosurfer69 xbox GT: Gzine

  • @gilyardk Sorry, only play on the PC.

  • The CITV also when in therm vision will act as a proximity scan for infantry just in-case you didn't know

  • @Sneyeperis No shit? I didn't know that, good information. Thanks.

  • one question i do have is how does the stingers react when a target is painted. i know they can still only lock onto air but . . . . . .?

  • @JBiskitz81 stingers don't use any "3rd party" painting, meaning they don't work with CITV or SOFLAM. I could be wrong about that but i'm pretty sure.

  • @StoneFaceLock By any chance, do you own DRMB? I sent you an email, about an article before Xmas. But you haven't responded yet, well I finished the article if you want it? Took some time to edit;)

  • @Battlefield3Vault No I don't own/run anything DRMB. I'm only friends with the people who do.

  • Thanks Stone :D

  • U know I go on winning sprees in TDM just MAV'ing for the team pretty much the whole time. Unless the spawns flip on me and I have to PP 2000 on em. My schedule is so random that I play alone alot and I don't get to play much rush.

  • also useful: helicopter pilot with laser painter and gunner with guided missiles. The gunner can shoot a lasered helicopter, flares won't work. Perfect teamplay

  • Great information. Thanks, Sean.

  • You were trollin' the chopper hard.

  • Please don't use the dubstep EVER again.

  • @Battlefield3Vault Can't comply with that.

  • @StoneFaceLock Hi, i guess you dont give a bloody fuck, but would you give a fuck to take a really quick look at my channel? Love you, big homo.

  • @StoneFaceLock Dam you Stone! No worries, just a suggestions. I just really hate it, but I guess it maybe some people's cup of tea's. If that make sense, keep up the content Stone.

  • @Battlefield3Vault ya man I understand. Thanks for the love.

  • @Battlefield3Vault Hi Welcome to StoneFaceLocks channel! You must be new here.

  • I want to paint it black

  • :)

  • i hit thumbs up before watching it simply because i know this will be great info that many ppl need to know ! keep these tips vids coming !
