Some people actually like buying higher quality products. I don't really see any issue with paying 10 dollars for just a hardcover version, the paper being a better quality is a bonus. Books are exactly the same. Hardcover novels cost slightly more than their paperback versions.

If that's the case then I disagree with him about it being stupid that they'd charge extra. Some people simply want something that will last longer and just be overall better quality.

When I buy books I always try to get the hardcover versions just because they tend to last longer and getting the cover bent on paperback books irritates me. Same deal here

@S3raphyx Sometimes it's the principle and not money that's the problem. Every company is trying to make a quick buck anyway possible. Futurepress recently released a strategy that even has more pages, much higher quality paper and hardcover, and amazing in-depth guide but they only charged 24 bucks vs ff13-2 35 bucks for their guide.

Some companies maybe can afford to either make their products high quality for a low cost and also sell at a cheap price, other companies maybe can't afford to make their products for a cheap price and have to sell higher for profits. Some are obviously just greedy like you said. Lots of factors can play into it. I don't know these companies but it seems reasonable to me.

Piggyback doesn't do all the guides. there's also Prima Games etc, but especially in Germany game guides are very rare (for example no guide for Zelda Skyward Sword and no guide for a Kingdom Hearts game after KHII) and you have to buy the English ones if you want one

for a German language guide release the game has to be a game like Final Fantasy XIII-2, Mafia II, Assassins Creed, Deus Ex, Grad Theft Auto etc (mostly games with a rating of 16 an higher)

great unboxing bro, final fantasy 13-2 is only one disc on 360 and more then 90 percent of 360 games run in 1080p they don't upscale it to 1080p maybe to 1080i but thats it, more then 85 percent of ps3 games run 720p so to get the better resolution is 360 i dont know why ps3 games dont run full 1080p like 360 games
