It's not about "brutality". The Slipknot's music as I hear it = repetitive thrash riffs accompanied by the trivial electronics. Technically, any nu-metal band is still metal even though 50% of its roots lie in metal at best.

That said, there's nothing wrong about liking Slipknot. My point is, I listen to pop punk now and then but I'd never go to Gauze video and leave a comment like "not bad but NoFX have accomplished more than these guys ever would". It'd be totally out of place.
