If the white rock goes on A1 that is check. The Black King has to move on B6. So White has got a free move. Pion on H6 goes on H7. Then Black can do aything, maybe exchange the rock but white find the Queen
I saw a move i believed was better at first sight, in place of taking the bishop on d5 by the white rook. Then i realized its just an inferior alternative, but ill write it anyway. The only positive is it gives black a third consecutive chance to make a mistake, which is not the best thing to count on either way :).the move is rook f3, threatening checkmate at rook f6, where whites best move is bishop c6, then white rook f7, and move the king to help on h7 or 8, winning the rook. If white ever
Excellent. I saw the checkmate positioning but making a rook instead of queen was a beautiful twist. I have seen such a theme before but didnt see it here. Good lesson. Thank you ChessQueen
