I remember that event when Shawn couldn't work that night in Winnipeg. The PPV bombed big time (according to Hart's book) no HBK no Undertaker (face broken) Bret Hart worked the dark matches only. The buy rates were down. I heard the taping of RAW went good in Brandon MB then again they taped 3-4 shows of segments to fill the month up until the Survivor Series

@Quentin242451 Well if you'd like to know hours before the IYH "Great White North" PPV started, my brother and I were walking by the old arena, coming from the mall. We seen some cars & missed Bret Hart go into the arena, I was 13 & chatted up the security, he let us on the parking lot & we met all the superstars, agents & Vince McMahon ("we welcome him,thanked him for having the show here in town"-told us "thanks...coming to the show?" -we said "yeah") we talked a bit each one, it was all good

@Quentin242451 who was there you? or me?...back then security wasn't so tight like how it is now. That Sunday afternoon the talent has to arrive early to prepare for the card. The heels we didn't talk to much they stayed in character...well tried, it was kind of hard of them when they arrived together in the same vehicle. That were we learnt the term "kayfabe" Lot of people have the chance to meet the wrestlers at the airport, hotels, in this case it was the Winnipeg Arena parking lot.

@Quentin242451 Another time in 97 at the livevent, some teenage kids nearly had me kicked out of the event, when they were yelling at the curtain or Gorilla Position making Pig noises to Henry O Godwinn (he was furious, & also yelling on the other side) back & forth by cursing, saying incest jokes. All of a sudden agent Dave Hebner burst out the curtain started yelling at me, (while the other teens ran off) seat holders near by telling Dave it wasn't me, security caught them & ejected them out.

@MasterOfTimeForever It's legit. He was really ambushed in syracuse by a couple of marines. Word is he got a little too flirty with one of their girlfriends and they waited for him to leave in the Parking Lot. Bulldog and the 1-2-3 Kid tried to help him out but they were both held at bay. He was pretty much a bloody mess by the time it was over.

@CactusG26 Yeah, it was a pretty bad scene. The Kid tried to help him out but he was too drunk and outnumbered easily. And Davey was too pilled out of his mind to even fight (but tried to anyway.) I thought this was an angle a long time ago, but it was legit. Shame he used it as a excuse to get out of dropping the belt to Douglas.

Douglas was huge in ECW yes but in the WWF he was a nobody and Shawn was the company`s number 1 guy... and considering his age at the time (he was 28-29...) he had no reason whatsoever to put over anybody much less a guy that wasn`t even in mid card status...

@CactusG26 Yeah, you got a good point there. HBK was red hot in 95 and was on the virge of becoming the face of the WWF, so why drop it to some guy like Douglas? It didn't help that Douglas was rubbing everyone (mainly the Kliq) The wrong way with his arrogant attitude. Maybe Shawn and the Kliq did sabotage his career but Douglas did bring it upon himself. Maybe it wasn't a shame, HBK dropped the IC Belt and moved on to bigger and better things, The WWF Title.

@EricV1 you`re right maybe Shawn and Nash (the Cliq`s core basically because Hunter was still a new guy back then...) pulled some strings against him but like you said Douglas brought it upon himself... he was always a big mouth that never knew when to shut up... and sometimes to get ahead you need to put up with people that you don`t like or even hate.... wrestling is no different than any other business in that aspect...

@sbrooks187 Nah, he didn't press charges. I think it was announced on the very next Raw that he was jumped that police were investigating the matter. But Shawn has said before he isn't going to waste time with them.
